HERNDON, Virginia — Audi's new "Veterans to Technicians Program" is designed to help skilled former military technicians become Audi employees.

The program seeks to place veterans in Audi service departments in dealerships across the U.S.

Emphasis will be placed on recruiting veterans with proven automotive skills, the automaker said on Friday.

"The new program fills immediate needs for both U.S. veterans and Audi retailers who expect higher demand for service technicians, shop foremen and service consultants as the brand continues its growth trajectory in the United States," the company said in a statement.

Audi is looking for candidates with experience in power generation, aviation, welding, electronics, hydraulic systems and maritime systems. More information can be found online.

Audi said demand for its technicians is expected to soar 112 percent by 2020.
