Leased the car in May, so far so good. Handles and drives better than the Murano that we had before. More comfortable interior. Pick up is a bit of an issue, but using the sport mode allows one to get onto the highway with no issues. u

RUN FARRRR AWAYYY!

I bought my car in december of '17 and have nothing but problems.... car net never worked when i bought it( informed them 2 days after purchase never offered a replacement, winded up taking 23 days to repair), blind spot detection system started having error after the 2nd day driving, engine power failure, forward collision sensor failure all within 4 months of driving. It has been in the shop for 54 days since new to have the body control module replaced twice, the radio replaced, blind spot system replaced, had to pull down my headliner for antenna inspection which creased it so i had to have it replaced, new interior plastics due to them deforming(cheap), bluetooth goes out when streaming music, i have a dent from the factory that i keep getting the run around to replace....dealer scanned my car and for some reason the scan report shows 1400 miles less than my odometer and VW cannot answer why. The new transmission sucks its like a jittery 16 year old learning to drive a manual, a lot of lag in power from a stop i have almost been hit trying to navigate traffic , power loss around 4k when passing at 50 mph and when it downshifts WOW nothing smooth about it and now I have a noise when accelerating that sounds like the turbo has a small plastic bag stuck in it. VW of America is a horrible company and their cars are going down hill this is the 2nd new car i have bought from them in 15 months, traded from a 2017 passat that had many electrical safety issues into the tiguan. Now tied up in litigation because VW wants to give me another tiguan,no, or 4k as a settlement. looks like court is in our future. VW told me they were giving me 4k over my trade to incentivize me into a new VW. Also i was told that i was only rolling over 7634.55 instead of 11,200 because of the added money from VW so I took the offer figuring i would come out on top with less negative equity well come to find out they listed it as a rebate and now with rollover, rebate and deduction for miles i could owe 18k to VW for a lemon claim. Dont waste your time or your energy playing roulette with a VW.

If You Care About Rattles, Look Elsewhere

The car drives wonderfully. Premium feel. That's shattered after about 30 seconds in motion. I've got a loose cable, or wire, either in the door or under the seat making a tapping noise constantly. I've got two b-pillars that tick constantly for no reason, and then the glossy window trim pops in the sun. I've also got rattles in the door, both in the back and near the tweeter. The dashboard rattles in the cold, the AC vents rattle. It literally rattles when stopped if the sun is out. The radio is decent, thank god otherwise I'd go crazy. Unless you don't care about rattles, or can't really hear those noises (like my partner), then look elsewhere.

The People's Car

The 2018 VW Tiguan is an easy SUV to drive. It is comfortable - it turns on a dime.... and it looks good. The visibility is the best of any SUV I tried. There is not a blind spot in the car - and it has the safety feature of a car to the left or right - with light up cars on the side mirror. I haven't learned all the features yet - but the Navigation System is the easiest I have ever used - and this car has a compass built in. So far - it ranks as one of my favorite cars I have driven.

Tiggy has been perfect for us

My wife and I bought our 2018 VW Tiguan SE in March of 2018. We have already put 15,000 miles on it because we took a trip to San Antonio TX from Central Arkansas and we drove to Florida for our Anniversary. From the first moment we bought it this car has been incredible. The fuel economy is better than advertised. The quietness of the car is the best we personally have ever owned. The takeoff is a little slow but in my opinion, very adequate. The ability to speed up while at speed is really peppy. The car pulls hills in Arkansas very well for a 4 cylinder of this size especially. We have had no noises, no engine trouble, no problems of any kind. I was hesitant to buy the car after so many negative reviews and I'm glad to report no issues at all with my car. We absolutely love it. The only negatives I can think of is (1): I don't like the auto stop feature and we turn this OFF as soon as we get in the car. I think there should be a way to turn that feature completely off but I don't know of one right now. (2) The cupholder is too far back so that you can't get a cup of any size in the back spot of the cupholder without it hitting the center console storage area. But other than that, I can't think of another negative. Tons of positives including: The coolest entertainment LCD screen for our iPhones which works almost flawlessly. You can throw a gps navigation up on that center console and drive and follow it SO easily because the apple car play feature is what I have wanted for many years. The gas mileage is great. The incredible amount of storage space is mind numbing. The back seats have TONS of room. The 3rd row is just for small kids really and for those times when you just need to make someone else fit. We usually use that space for more space which there's plenty of. The speed of the car while in traffic is more than great. Hardly any road noise at all while driving. The color and look of the car are incredible in my opinion. We have never owned a VW before but love this one. I feel bad for those who have had a bad experience and I'm baffled honestly about that because our car, at 15,000 miles plus, has been nothing short of amazing. I hope everyone else can get restitution and VW will make it right. I really wish I could get the 2019 model after reading the reviews on it hah hah but I'm happy with what we have. Update on 12-31-2019: Tiggy is still working great and we still love the car. I just replaced the tires after 37,000 miles and I got a 4 wheel alignment. Car works as well as the day we bought it. Update on 01-01-2021. Tiggy still running great. Replaced a headlamp the other day but everything still works great as always. 55k miles on her. Update on 01-04-2024: I had an alternator go out and I had to have some sort of gaskets that were leaking oil fixed. The alternator I did myself and it was difficult to get that baby out because of the AC line being in the way. But I consider that normal maintenance. But the gaskets going out with the slight oil leak getting fixed was not normal and should not have happened. Other than that, our Tiggy is still going strong. I will say, that the gaskets should be made much better however and that cost me over a grand to get fixed. But, considering no other issues, I'm still very happy with the car. Hope it continues on. Update on 01-06-2025: Car still runs great and we're very happy with it. The sensor that tells you that you're out of window washer fluid still constantly goes off. It will go off 2 days after you fill it up. Minor annoyance. Oil doesn't seem to leak now although it could be a very minor issue from time to time. I guess it has over 130k miles on it now but it still runs very well. I'm still surprised at how well a 4 cyl turbo can run and I hope the turbo doesn't give me any issues...so far none. The 6 speeds and the transmission have always been flawless. The start stop system still needs a way to completely turn it off but we still continue to turn it off manually every time we get in it. I hate those start stop systems and refuse to participate in dumb lol. Yep, my opinion.
