I really enjoy driving the car and it has not given me any problems mechanically. It handles curves in the road and different driving conditions with ease. However it does do some weird things electrically, which initially were amusing but now are getting me down. The ABS light is on 90% of the time but the power windows are now working only occasionally. They used to start working again if I adjusted the mirrors (what the?) but now two of them are frozen. I hesitate to replace the motors in them since the do work occasionally and it feels like the problem is electrical rather than mechanical.
Love VW....hate the dealers

I have a beautiful dark purple 1995 Volkswagen GLX, with a spoiler on the back and a Neuspeed chip. I love the car, but have had NOTHING but problems from Vyletel Buick/Volkswagen and then Suburban Volkswagen in Troy. I took it in for an oil leak and they "blew up" the motor" (their words). Told me I had a new motor in it's place and it still leaks oil, if not more. Aside from my back driver's side window not working and some sort of leak with the power locks (one hears them for a while), I am still happy

Have had NO engine problems - everyone always tells me the car looks only a couple yrs. old at most - partly due to great quality paint (and my upkeep) - Excellent gas mileage - never broken down on me once - I am trading it in soon to get a new car because this 1 is going on 8 yrs. old, but I have LOVED it!

Have had minor problems, but mostly because of the mileage. Have replaced all wheel bearings plus front axles. Brakes have just been replaced as well. Otherwise...not much. A strange occurence: the fuel injector stopped working one day, took it out, and put it back in on a hunch and it has worked for 4 months since. Also have had the door lock freezing problem (minnesota).

I bought this GLX w/ 111,500 miles. Currently has 135,000 clocked. I just did the clutch, I've had to do the waterneck and trunk lock. No trouble hitting 130 MPH. Average 27 MPG at 75-80 MPH highway. 22 City. Comfortable, Dependable, GREAT A/C. Only negs are the cup holder,body creak, and the VW DEALER, not the used dealer I bought it from. THis was VW # 6, Passat #1. Very happy so far. Still don't know why the sunroof closes when I honk the horn though.
