2005.5 Jetta
This is a great car. Never thought a VW would be so fun to drive. It's faster than the earlier version and it has a ton more room in the back seat. The leather is much nicer as is the location of all of the controls. Can't think of a thing about this car that I can complain about and I have 3,000 miles on it.
Gremlins everywhere!
The new Jetta in impressive with its list of luxury and safety features. However, I have just over 10,000 miles on it now and have had constant minor problems. The radio was replaced due to a recall, the speakers rattled and had to have a repair made (the dealer broke the outside mirror control stick when fixing the speakers), there is a "ticking" noise under the dash which was a heating/AC modulator gone bad, and it still sounds like a tank when you first start it. Maintenance is rather expensive due to special oil and filter. The dealer has been terrible with getting parts in and fixing problems. I'm not sure if it's a dealer problem or if VW parts are hard to find. Take a long test drive before you buy!

Still loving my GLI
I have 52,000 miles on my car, and it's still doing great. I had never owned a VW before this one, and I've been very pleased so far.
Nice Car, Poor Gas Mileage - Get the TDI
Bought my new silver Jetta in July. Was really looking for a TDI but they didn't have any and I decided to settle on this one. It has the leather, 6 CD changer, XM radio, heated seats, and adjustable seats which is all very nice considering I live in Nebraska. I used to have a Passat. The styling and feel are very much the same and quite pleasing. The car feels high quality and as a manual it's fun to drive. My only complaint is the gas mileage. I've checked it now for two months and I'm consistantly getting 20 miles/gal, which is very disappointing for a small car. That's pure town driving. I've driven the TDI. If you want the mileage get a TDI. You won't sacrifice any perfomance.
Great Car for the Money!
I had test driven the Lexus IS 250, BMW 325i, Acura TL, and Infiniti G35 - the Volkswagen Jetta GLI offers everything those cars offer (minus some obvious horspower with certain models) at a great price. I was very impressed with the quality, power and standard features that this car offered - at a fraction of the cost of what the other cars sell for. Even though the cars I test drove are not thought of as in the same category as this car, for the money it can clearly stand beside those other cars - and make you a believer in this car like it did with me. You should at least test drive one, you will not be dissapointed!
