it all depends on the owner

I had my 06 vw jetta for almost two years now and I can say that i am really satisfied with this german machine. I watched many many reviews on it and I know everything from grille to trunk about the car. I've read reviews from consumers on here saying that its a money pit but it all depends on the owner of the vehicle. I haven't had to many problems with car and I can honestly say it was well worth the price. I would recommand knowing a good vw mechanic rather than going to a vw dealer service for price reasons.

I've had this car in my possesion for 13 days, the dealership has had it the rest. There is a problem with one day time running light staying on after the car is turned off and the key is removed. I've had some funky stuff happen with the dash warning lights coming on and "nothing is wrong" So far, the Jetta had been a very bad experience.

The 2006 Jetta is a fun car to drive with good handling capabilities. The gas mileage is great compared to my SUV trade in. This is the main reason why I wanted a smaller car. I like the looks and the way the interior is designed. I have the navigation system which is ok. The radio sound system is weak and the satellite radio always seems to loose connection. The wind noise is very lound on the highway you need to really turn up the radio. The front seats are very uncomfortable. There is a bar in the driver's seat that hurts my rear end. This is the biggest negative for me.

A Must Have

I have often kept the VW name in the back of my mind over the last few years leading up to my purchase, my only concern in buying was that the Jetta's I had driven (friend's cars) seem to have poor power and marginal interior comfort. Since these cars are mostly built in Mexico and South America, I was also concerned at the initial quality of the VW. I spent one month looking for used SUV's in the $15,000 range and never really considered buying a new car. I had stopped at a VW dealership looking for a slightly used SUV or sedan, but I couldn't keep my eyes from wondering over to the 2006 Jetta. I kept thinking "boy I wish I could afford one of those." To my complete suprise the cost was only $17,984.
