Dissapointed #1
If it has not happen by now the headliner will come off the cd will stop working properly and you will hear a fan noise when the car is started. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 and a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder and this never happen. I wonder what is coming next and I don't what to keep this car any longer. That is my last VW that I would own.

Horrible experience
I owned a 2001 Jetta that ran like a dream, never had any problems even though it was 6 years old when I bought it. I bought my 2006 in 2009 with 28k on it. Right around 50k miles the check engine light started coming on and no amount of money would fix it. I took it to 3 different mechanics but as soon as I fixed one thing another problem would arise. Do your research before you buy a VW! If you find a good one, they are great cars. Otherwise it'll be a nightmare.

The best car ever produced
I’m gonna keep it real here, I’m a 23 year old who makes very questionable life choices. I have a 2006 VW Jetta 2.5l, and I’ve sent that old girl through hell and back, and she keeps going with a smile on her face. I’ve dogged on it for hours through fields, buried it to the hood in a mud pit, and continued to daily drive it all across the state with no issues and no maintenance besides semi-regular oil changes. Sometimes the engine light comes on and I throw a little oil in and it just goes away. Just last night we got a huge snow storm, and I couldn’t leave work until about 3am. I fully expected to be snowed in and would have to call someone to pick me up, but I decided to at least try it with the Jetta. This car drove like an absolute TANK through the snow. I swear to god, 3-5 foot high snow drifts, literally no road just massive snow drifts and the Jetta was just tearing through it doing 40 mph no problem. I drove an hour home through mostly snow drifts and not once did the Jetta so much as hesitate. The snow meant nothing to it. The snow was a puny object with no purpose but to be obliterated and moved out of the way by the Jetta. I finally make it back to my driveway, and mind you, this is a long gravel driveway with wide open fields on either side. The final challenge, and the hardest one yet. Did the Jetta even bat one of her pretty eyelashes at that mountain of snow lying ahead? You bet your sweet cheeks she didn’t. Together we plowed ahead through this seemingly insurmountable obstacle, and it was a sight to behold. Snow being flung 20 feet in to the air in front of the car because the snow level was nearly above the hood, couldn’t see a thing but I just let her eat and kept her straight, and she got us home safe. Thank you Volkswagen, this car has been an absolute warrior, and I will make sure she goes out like one too.

Isn't necessarily aging gracefully....
I bought this car 1 1/2 years old in 2008 with 10,000 miles to replace my totaled 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320. I was over the cost of Mercedes maintenance and the Benz-Chrysler era reliability issues, however almost 5 years later this car has proven equally reliable, and because I can't find a good VW mechanic I'm still stuck with dealer servicing. I have paid every penny for maintenance of what I paid for my Mercedes...only in a car that cost slightly less than half of what the E320 cost brand new. Its very comfortable, drives nice but there are too many odd failures that have happened to me over the years including having to replace the suspension and fuel pump at 55,000 miles
before you buy
Bought my '06 in the summer of '07 with 200 miles on it. I just rolled over 142,000 but it has been at a hefty price. If you plan to buy a VW, be prepared to go to the dealer for everything, because everything is specialized and expensive. (my uncle is a mechanic and he wouldn't even change the brakes for me). Only reason I still have this car is because I'm so upside down in it...
