My 2.5 Volkswagen Jetta

Getting a Jetta was the best decision I have made when buying a car! I love this car. It suits me perfectly. I love the way it looks, the way it handles and how much more luxurious it is compared to previous models. The only thing is I wish it had a more ponies under the hood. For some reason my fiancee's Beetle, with the same i-5 engine and and only 150 lbs lighter, has more punch! Other then that, and a few warranty issues, it has been my most enjoyable car yet!

GLI = FUN

I picked up my GLI last week after seriously considering the Accord Coupe V6 6MT and the Altima SER 6-speed. The GLI blows both cars away when it comes to the "fun to drive" factor. Yes, it has its typical VW "quirks", a minor rattle in the dash that will get fixed at its 5,000 mile service, and the stereo system is not terrific, but you don't buy a GLI to listen to music. Punch the acclerator in 3rd gear, listen to the amazing 2.0T spool up and say goodbye to almost anyone in your way. Watch out for the flashing lights though...

Problems....

I am currently trying to sell my Jetta now that the transmission has gone out and will cost $3,000 to replace. In addition to the transmission my trunk never closes the first time around, I avoid using it just so that I don't have to attempt closing it 50 times before it clicks. The first day of a new job, the key would not fit in the ignition. I had to have a tow truck come down and the dealership said I might needed to replace the ignition. The interior radio and window buttons have bubbeled and peeled, and as of today five of my six CD's are stuck in the CD player. I am really disapointed and will most likely get a horrible return on what I thought was a great investment.

GLI All the Way

If you don't know about the the 2.0T FSI engine, then you need to do your reseach and see what you have been missing out on. You'll pay a few more pennies but the fun it puts back into driving will make all the difference. I haven't let the wife drive it yet after she peeled out of the dealership in the test drive vehicle.

faulty headliners

We own this vehicle..I would not buy another..one month out of warranty with 20,000 miles on it the headliner started pulling off. Went to dealer,they stated they would order a new one. well 8 weeks later and now they won't return our calls. Stopped by and we were told they couldn't see were one was ever ordered. They should have been up front and stated sorry can't do anything about it. Honda does courtesy warranties on stuff like this. No more VW for us. We are in our 50's and our cars are very well taken care of. This is unacceptable. They have a problem with their headliners falling down..
