Used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan Consumer Reviews
Love the Car and the PRICE!
I test drove a 2006 Jetta Value Edition 2.5 and the Volvo S40 on the same day. There is a huge difference in price, but very little difference in features and ride. I love my Jetta - I bought it TODAY. Talk about a headturner. The manual transmission has some pep, and the traction control and airbags make it the perfect snow driver.
Solid, fun, different.
I've had the Jetta for 3 years and am very satisfied. It's a good sized vehicle for me and the type of driving I do: trips around town, sometimes with people and things, and the occasional road trip. After 48K miles, I'm hard pressed to find any faults at all. It's reliable, fun & sensible, but not boring and bland like the Asian competition. The 5spd and 2.5 motor have plenty of torque to compete off the line if you are a skilled rower. The interior build quality is Teutonic solid, ergonomically correct for the driver. Pax might find it a bit "stiff" (mine have, but I don't care, because I'm having fun driving). Looking forward to at least 100K unless I upgrade to an Audi before then.

Suprised
Traded in a BMW 540i for my 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Value Edition. What a surprise! This car is just as comfortable, has a larger trunk, wonderful sound system, and great looking with 17" wheels. I drove it to AZ from TN and it hanled great in all weather conditions and road conditions. I get an average of 45 mpg.
Great Car!
I test drove numerous other compact to midsize sedans. The Jetta outperformed all but the Passat in my opinion. For the price and the added features, I chose the Jetta. The handling and performance are incredible. The only downside is a slower acceleration off the start. Once it gets going though, be sure to check the speedometer because it does not feel like you are going that fast. I also found the added room in the interior to be very accomadating. I am 6'6" and I am very comfortable in the car with lots of head and leg room. The added features are great a well. The trunk is huge, the stereo system is awesome.
A Wolf in a Runt Sheep's Clothing
I was in the market for a Honda Accord or Nissan Altima, a $199/Month Lease...same as most people that are as frugal as me. So I go test drive a VW. Holy Moly! This is a Value Edition? What does the regular one do? The 6 Speed Triptonic automatic transmission is very responsive. I know cars and VW is way ahead of its time offering a package like this as standard. The car is still a deal well into the $20,000 range. I got mine at a huge discount because I liked the Beige. The 6th gear let's you go 50 - 60 mpg at under 2,000 RPM which translates to huge gas efficiency. The service that backs this car is up to par with a BMW or Mercedes complete with loaner car. Save money and enjoy driving again. This car has it all.
