Back seat is a little tight otherwise I love my Jetta. Great gas mileage with the TDI

Dude - What an awesome car. I used to drive a 95' Jeep Cherokee. Quite a step up. 43 miles to the gallon! Smooth and quiet ride. This our first VW but we can't wait until we get our next one. You sit in the driver's seat and you think, "Man, I'm drving a pretty posh car!"

With fuel prices rising, this is the only way to go. Why bother with hybrids when a tried and true TDI is there. It is fairly quick, gets over 40 mpg in mixed driving, looks and feels like a luxury car. This is my fifth VW and I currently have a Golf, New Beetle Convertable, and the Jetta TDI. The others are wonderful but this may turn out to be the best. I traded a V6 4Motion Passat for the TDI and feature for feature the New Jetta is way aahead.

After driving around a '98 Camry (smooth ride) it took a while for me to adjust to the 2005 Jetta which is stiffer - but more fun to drive. The car handles really well. You can feel the turbo kick in around 2,000 and the powerband keeps up until about 2,700. The interior quality is nicer then all the small cars I've been in (Civic, Corolla, Focus) and the layout is straightforward. I currently live in Germany (although the car is American spec, bought in the U.S.) and the car handles very well on the autobahn at speeds of 90 - 110 mph. 90 mph = 3,000rpm. Sharp looking car!

The Jetta TDI 2005.5 is an exceptionally well built car and is a top performer. The diesel engine is quiet and smooth. Acceleration is crisp and road handling excellent. I do quite a bit of back road, very windy driving and it handles the road wonderfully. Fuel economy so far on a brand new 1 week old engine is 45 mpg! in mixed city driving. Top speed going to work is maybe 50 mph. Avergae speed is 40 mph.
