2018 Tacoma TRD Sport
I bought the manual trans. I drove the Chev. Canyon before I bought the Toyota. No comparison as far as quality. The Toyota was solid and quiet, far better quality. There something wrong with the transmission of the Chev. Canyon, jerky, noisy. Have 9400 miles on the Tacoma, no issues. Drove flawlessly in the harshest winter conditions.

Another vehicle same problem.
Left review for 2017 that I had. They actually replaced with 2018. The 2018 still has the same transmission problems where it feels like you're going over bumps constantly. Not pleasant while riding. Its very annoying as it bucks all the way sometimes worse than others.
poor transmission performance
I bought this truck new after a lot of research. I wanted it particularly to pull a 3200 lb travel trailer, well within its advertised capabilities. The truck was reasonably comfortable, for a truck. Although it has the double cab, seating in the back is not that great. However, none of the other features matter, because the transmission was crap. The truck was truly awful, due to the transmission -- it was always shifting and shifted like a jackrabbit. This occurred driving in normal conditions, not even towing. You shouldn't notice the transmission shifting every few minutes. Even cruising on flat interstate, it was always shifting. Going down a hill, it would suddenly shift from 6th into 2nd, redlining the rpms. It also labored to pull the 3200lb camper. I took it to the dealer but they said it was ok, and would not work with me on it. After having it for 3 months, I traded it in for another make and model of truck. It was a huge disappointment and I'll never try Toyota again.

The Best Truck in America
The Toyota Tacoma 4X4 SR5 double cab V6 with the 6'-0" bed is a great sporty truck for price, looks, quality, performance, and value. I would not drive any other truck. I have owned six Toyota Tacoma trucks since the 1990's. I have never had any problems and nothing has ever broke on any of the Tacoma trucks that I have owned and driven. These Tacoma trucks keep getting better and better every year. The 2018 is the best yet. I am impressed with all of the improvements and upgrades over my last 2014 Tacoma 4X4 TRD Sport double cab with the 6'-0" bed. I could not be any happier than I am now.
