Used 2018 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Consumer Reviews
Great truck
I got this truck for two main reasons: reliability and the styling. Both of which I believe were best in class. It's not for everyone. If you need the full size truck get the full size. I'm doing enough city driving that it'd be an inconvenience. Tough to tell if transmission issues are a problem. It takes time for the software to learn your driving habits. I've gotten use to it. You just need to be more purposeful in how you control the car. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and can't wait to put mods on it.

Love the truck updated 2025 after 60,000 miles
Still true after all these years. Perfect mid size truck. Not a selling point, but I ended up loving the RADAR cruise control and lane departure. Of course, the blind spot warning feature cost extra money and was not in that basic off-road package. Towing package and electrical outlets are awesome. Love the rail style tie downs - wish there was a rail in the front of the bad too. Only two negatives - navigation is weak and difficult to use. Entertainment is poorly organized and not user friendly. However, the sound quality is just fine, and I'm a music enthusiast. Back seats are versatile and comfortable for an adult. It's a fun vehicle to drive, even on long trips. It's well built, and the V6 has plenty of power.

Typical Toyota Fit and Finish
The Tacoma is a nice truck, amazing fit and finish, all the criticisms about the transmission are justified, I bought it to fit in my garage better then an F150 and am going back to the F150 or maybe the new Ranger because of the transmission and the way it shifts....it is almost embarrassing and painful to hear and feel it shift.

It is a truck not a car, real driver buy manuals.
First, remember that it is a TRUCK, made to do truck jobs. If you want soft riding, go buy a car or a suv. The TRD Pro is awesome, it saved me from having to do all the research and installation of off road parts. Second, buy a manual. Shifting gears makes you feel more in tuned with the truck and it is your fault if you are in the wrong gear not some pre-mapped automatic (I owned an 2017 automatic before I ordered the Pro, also use the ECT button). I also own several other older truck models that you can not wear out (82-270,000, 84-290,000, and a 92-350,000) all are simple, rugged trucks. I have had no reliability at this time with close to 16,000 miles on it and my dealer has been the best. I got a good deal and their staff and mechanics are the best
