Great family vehicle, but...

Purchased new in January 2010 to replace a 2007 Honda Odyssey that had a myriad of mechanical issues. Overall, a great family vehicle, very comfortable on long trips, plenty of power, and feature rich with the rear entertainment system, navigation, Bluetooth, backup camera, and parking sensors. But, with just over 96,000 miles started hearing noises from the transmission. Took it to the dealer and the diagnosis was a failed internal component. Replaced the transmission and it runs better than new, but did not expect a transmission failure this soon.

I'm a manufacturer rep of engine management and fuel delivery systems for NAPA Auto Parts. I easily travel 40,000 miles annually and drive a 2010 Sienna. It currently has 115,000 miles on it and it's one of the most bullet proof vehicles I've ever had. At well over 100,000 miles I've kept up on the maintenance which has been almost nothing and it's still going strong. To date the only maintenance the van has required has been oil changes, a few sets of tires, and a couple of brake jobs. I've also flushed the power steering and transmission. It just doesn't really need a lot of maintenance and continues to run strong. The spark plugs are original and still look amazing.

Sienna XLE 2010: A Giant

Sienna XLE has been given all the bells and whistles that can be given to a mini van; it has comfortable seats, mine is a 7 passenger so enough space for my wife to move around the vehicle and take care of kids while they're on the road. The only problem I have with this van is the accelerator and brake pedals are installed at much lower height which makes me change my sitting posture at least 2-3 times even if it is less than 2 hours drive one way. I have owned it for last over 2 weeks and have already put on over 1300 miles on it; 21mpg is what I am getting (all are highway miles). Overall I am satisfied with this van and will recommend it to my friends!

Bought our first Toyota sienna 2010.. Have own 5 other vans villager (awesome) venture (awesome) voyager (ok) uplander (worst ever).. So far our sienna is neck and neck with the other 2 vans.. Comfort is wonderful, with fibromyalgia and RA, long rides no longer hurt.. Seats are so comfy.. After owning the sienna for 3 weeks the tranny started acting up.. Took it to our tranni man , he put it on the comp. no issues.. He said, for some reason the trannies do act up. Some how it straightens it's self out and they have no idea why or how.. Every tranny tht has come into his shop has done this.. Well it has fixed it's self and haven't had a problem since... :)

Blind spots

I sorely regret trading in my 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport for this car. The visibility in the caravan was excellent. The Toyota Sienna has a large blind spot on the left. I have had more close calls in this car than I did in 10 years in the Caravan. Also, the trim between the windshield and the right window is wide and creates another blind spot. A third blind spot is created when it is snowing and the windshield wipers do not clear the far sides of the windshield. It is also difficult to see out of the rear window. I regret not having the Caravan accessed by a garage before trading it in. It was a mistake for me to lose the Caravan for this car. I feel unsafe.

Our sienna is a great car we enjoy it on trips the gps is a big help, had a little trouble finding a sat tuner for the radio but had one installed and it works well. The biggest draw back to this car is the flat free tires. They are not flat free the light is on more than off. There is not a Dunlap tire dealer in our area so we are left to the mercy of others. The local Toyota dealer is not helpful. I would buy regular tires for the car but they did not build a place for the spare, pretty stupid who ever heard of a car without a spare.

I traded in my 2007 Odyssey for the 2010 Sienna. Wow, what a difference! The Sienna drives like a car, is almost effortless to park, is SO comfortable, and has totally changed my mind about minivans. I wish I had gone with the Sienna originally, rather than blindly believing Hondas were superior - I was so wrong! All the features on the Sienna are nice, especially the rear camera, Bluetooth connection, auto headlights and auto rear door. This one is a keeper!

I did a lot of research before my purchase and read about and compared (test-drove) the competition. None of the other mini-vans even compare. I love the ride, my wife feels confident driving it. My little girl loves seeing out the window. A big part of our decision was the reliability and safety reputation of Toyota. There are so many great convenience features, and this sits, rides, and is quiet like a luxury vehicle. We are thrilled with this van!

Wanted a lower trim model but was boxed into the XLE to get AWD (they have an LE AWD but good luck finding one). Got the van for mostly short haul driving and occasional longer trips with the dogs. After a year, getting about 19 MPG average (mostly city) but get 23 MPG on highway trips. Ride is just fine for what it is, and it handles better than most of the other vans. NAV system is beyond awful, but I just use my Garmin instead. Will likely never use the DVD player. Backup camera is a nice feature. Runflat tires on the AWD haven't given long term issues yet, but paying $260 for a flat will grow old real quick.

This vehicle has been more than I expected. Mileage has been terrific on the highway. 27 mpg at 70 mph; 23- 25 mpg at 80 mph. Engine has great power. Van is very quiet and smooth. Seats are very comfortable. Would recommend the upgraded radio/cd player with bluetooth. The added on bluetooth by Toyota is just so-so.

We recently purchased a 2010 Toyota Sienna XLE with EVP#2 after a lot of research. Not surprisingly, the other minivan we were eventually considering was the Odyssey. Both are great cars, and very comparable. After test driving both the same day, we decided that we preferred the quieter, smoother ride the Sienna offered. We don't agree that the Sienna gives an overly cushy or unresponsive ride.

I was not in favor of buying this van. Wife convinced me due to lower step entry for her mother. Since then. I LOVE this vehicle. Compared to 2014 Acadia (ugh), the vehicle feels nimble, peppy, and very versatile. Great mileage. Everything for a vacation trip fits with room to spare. Love the window pull-up screen shades for privacy. Only routine maintenance needed, a new battery, and new tires. Minus is lack of BLUETOOTH and USB connections, and the short tire valves are so set into the rim that an extension is needed to add air. No back up parking sonar- had to add an aftermarket system which is useless. Minor annoyances. I think we're ready for a new Sienna as long as it does not have TURBO or stop/start. Those are two things that will prevent me buying any new vehicle. Turbos don't last and are very expensive to fix, and stop/start is just plain stupid and annoying. Update>> Oct 2019. Still running like a champ. No issues

The Toyota Sienna's navigation system has a "safety feature" which is not advertised anywhere, it appears to be the least talked about safety feature of any vehicle on the market. When the vehicle is moving, the navigation and phone hands free controls are locked out. They don't trust that passenger can safety change your destination with the vehicle moving. It was a waste of $2500. The voice recognition system is mostly useless, out of 10 times saying "home" it only correctly registered once. Does anyone actually like/want faux wood trim?

It's so quiet, smooth, quick, and fuel efficient. I Love my Sienna. It is the best van/car I have ever owned. I already have 1,000 miles on my 2010 Sienna I have had for a week. I have averaged about 21 mpg on the first 2 tanks which is not bad for a van and the way I drive. It is so smooth and quiet it's like riding on a cloud. Handling is just fine to me, not as sporty feeling as the Odyssey but it is very capable and secure. The Sienna has some guts for a van as well, just punch it and it GO's! The JBL sound system is awesome along with the Navigation and DVD system! I love the color, Blizzard Pearl! Brakes are strong, I had a few close calls already and it stops like a much smaller car.

I've put 1500 mi my 1st 2 weeks of ownership. I love to drive this Van. It gets great gas mileage 25 mpg hwy. This van has plenty of power off the line and plenty of passing power. It rides more like a luxury car than a van. It's smooth and stable over bumps. It's really been a joy to drive so far. I like the shifter location over all competitor models, it is low and I can rest my hand on shifter like my car. All competitors have shifter way up high on the dash. As for style the sliding door track is located just below the window and is pretty much unnoticeable, where the Odyssey has their door track in the middle of the rear quarter panel. Sienna looks more like a car than a minivan.

2010 Sienna Not For City Driving!

My new 2010 Sienna LE FWD is getting a disappointing 14 mpg's city, and 19 mpg's highway. The on-board computer displays an average of 16.4 mpg's for the 1,600 miles I've driven it. This is far short of the 17/27 and average 19 mpg's advertised. The vehicle has an extremely wide feel to it which is threatening when you are on narrow city side streets with on- coming traffic. The turning radius is wide. Turning into a narrow parking lot space is a challenge. It's hard to pull into a space evenly straight, The Van is usually angled and you have to jockey it back and forth to straighten it out. This is not an agile vehicle for tight city driving. It's a very smooth quit ride on the open road.

The Sienna seemed like our only choice given the features we wanted, mainly a good quality vehicle with AWD, 7 pass seating and 2nd row bucket seats, without moving up to a full size SUV. The ride is much better and more stable than I expected given Toyota car's usual soft, wallowy feeling. The engine power is just right, plenty of passing power and the engine never feels like it's struggling. The interior space is great, I'm 6'4" and there is still room for someone to sit behind me, however for me, the seat cushions are too short. There are features on the Limited I wanted such as HID lights, however the price premium was over $5k more, which I don't know how Toyota can justify.

After looking at all the top choices out there, we chose a Sienna. We got an XLE with the Value package 3 and several other options. My kids love the comfort and ease of use of this van. It is very smooth and quiet on the highway and easy to maneuver around town. It really is the Lexus of minivans.

I had vowed never to buy one of these but finally broke down because of where we were in life. Went through the Sienna vs. Odyssey torture test and finally decided on the Sienna Limited. The price was right and this was the closest thing we could find to a luxury minivan. Sure, for the first few weeks I felt like an emasculated male driving this thing but I have to say it is growing on me and I can see why these things are so darn popular. Our other family car is a MB GL450 - love it but we are taking the Sienna on our next road trip. Better mileage and more space. The van is just too easy to get to like.

I bought this Minivan in August to replace an aging Pontiac Montana we had previously driven. Since GM has decided to give up on minivans, we had to move on too, and love Toyota reliability. We are very pleased with the Sienna so far. It is equipped pretty nicely in the LE model with the Power Doors, power seat, etc. The Sienna drives great, has a very smooth ride and drive. It also feels very solid when you shut the doors, etc. So far we're getting pretty good gas mileage, can't complain too much for such a large vehicle. Also, this van has power, it really moves, with the most HP in its class. The Sienna is very roomy, the flip and fold flat rear seats are great! So far so good!

I bought a brand new Sienna. My wife drove the car with my mother in the passenger seat when we left the dealership. After half an hour, when my wife turned the heater on, the engine started making loud thumping sounds. My mother noticed a glow in the hood. A considerable amount of thick dark smoke started rising from the hood. My wife stopped the car immediately and turned the engine off. Thinking that the engine was about to explode, they leaped out of the car and ran away to a safe distance. The car kept emitting smoke for 30 minutes. Toyota could not diagnose the reason for the problem. Still, it insists that I take this dangerous car back.

Gas Pedal Sticks on 2010 Sienna

I was shocked when the gas pedal stuck twice on my new 2010 Sienna XLE minivan. All I could think of was to turn the minivan all since pressing on the break pedal did not stop the minivan. Toyota of Knoxville blamed the floor mats. The gas pedal stuck again after they removed the floor mats. I got rid of this mini van in February and purchased an X5 BMW. Now that is a real amazing vehicle.

I paid two grand more to get the nav system. It is horrible. It almost got me killed once when my wife and I had to pull over in busy traffic to reset it. Toyota will not allow the passenger to use the nav system while moving. They are the only nav system that does this to the consumer, and it ruins the car for me. I now use my iphone for nav. Also, nav can only be updated every two years or so, meaning restaurants are incorrect and highways changed. Plus, they charge you $260 bucks for the upgrade when it does come out. There are a million complaints online about this nav system. Don't buy this van!

I purchased this vehicle for my wife (and three kids). Test drove various models including the Odyssey. The key feature that drove us to choose the Sienna was the AWD otherwise the Odyssey would have been our choice. The Odyssey drives very smoothly and it felt very comfortable. However the Sienna is very close. I was a bit disappointed with the ride as you feel pretty much every bump on the street. I guess it is because of the run flat tires since they are so stiff. Overall the interior design in very good and it works great for the family.

Traded in 06 Odyssey and you can't go wrong with either van. But the styles are very different, and we prefer the Sienna. Sienna is quieter and rides much smoother. Sienna also has better turning radius. We took the Sienna on a 1600 mile road trip and loved the journey. And we originally wanted it without AWD, but we ran into a snowstorm and AWD paid for itself in one trip!! Our Sienna is loaded, and it really feels more like a luxury sedan than a minivan.

This is my second Sienna, so yes,my experiences with this vehicle have been extremely positive (I still have the first one, an 05). If Lexus made a mini-van, this would be it. I love the power doors, power tailgate, AWD, Bluetooth, GPS, Rear DVD, heatedseats. Honestly, you can't get a better mini-van, period. Its true that the gas mileage is not the best (12L average per 100km on the highway and about 13.5L per 100km in town) but mine both have AWD plus all the gadgets that need to be powered. I suspect you would be hard pressed to do that much better....I would have bought a Hydrid if it was available... I have mine with running boards and hood deflector and XM satellite radio.

We have gotten as high as 24 to 25 MPG a couple of times. Very roomy and comfortable ride. We can put our grandson in his booster seat in the middle seat in the second row. He has plenty of leg room and can recline just his seat for naps.

I was disappointed the new body style won't be out til next year, but there are a lot of interior improvements: soothing dashboard lighting, ipod connector, 110V A/C outlets, automatic fold flat 3rd row seats, great Navigation system, improved DVD system with sound by infrared not FM signal. My husband liked the increased HP and slightly better gas mileage. New colors to choose from. I'm very pleased.

Bought this car for my wife. XLE, AWD, JBL, Fog lamps and parking assist. Drove it twice so far and it is comfortable and quiet. The power sliding doors and rear door are a great convenience. It has been raining in NJ non stop and I was able to pull up to a store hit the power sliding door and my three year old daughter and my wife were able to jump in and close the door very quickly. This vehicle is made to be a comfortable, convenient and reliable family hauler. I feel it does what it is designed to do very well. The review says there is no steering feedback and there is body roll around corners. Come on people it is not a sports car, let's be realistic. I am looking forward to a road trip.

I purchased my Sienna XLE with value package #4. The car handles great and is fun to drive. It does not feel at all like a mini-van, but more like a smooth sedan. The interior is well laid out. NAV/DVD systems are very good, but I would like to see an option of allowing a passenger to operate the NAV system while the car is moving. I also wish Toyota would allow loading of the DVD's in the center stack like the Odyssey, but instead you have to reach in the back to load a new DVD for the little ones. I did a lot of test drives and research between Honda and Toyota. Toyota prevailed and I paid $2000.00 less for a more equipped 2010 Sienna than I did for a less equipped 2009 Odyssey.

Chose Sienna (smoother, quieter ride) over Odyssey (sportier ride and seemed less quiet on freeways). Pregnant wife got car sick once during late night travel, and the GPS conveniently tracked the nearest hotel for us. Really like the interior spaciousness, although the Sienna was a tight fit in the 3rd car garage... the dual sliding doors made for easier ingress/egress since there were large shelves along the walls of the garage. Our Sienna has every option including HID lights, DVD Rear Entertainment, and JBL (above average audio... although nothing beats Mark Levinson). Dynamic laser cruise control is probably the only option not worth buying.

I love my new Sienna! I have a fully loaded AWD Limitted Edition. Comfortable ride, and do not find it noisy at all as some others suggested...perhaps thats a subjective observation. I don't think I'll ever go back to an SUV. The GPS system is good similar to my Lexus. Disappointed that I paid for the all weather mats...they were recalled but Toyota did not replace with Standard mats.

I looked into a 2010 Honda Odyssey Base model but I was not looking for something that drives like a car, I wanted a minivan and the Sienna is cheaper and handles just fine. I was not looking for bells and whistles but functionality hence the CE version. Great van, rides smooth, has plenty of power,is comfortable and I like it. Only complaint is the Van was suppose to come with Daytime Running Lights but for some reason there was a misbuild at the factory. Toyota is going to make it right and it was brought before the regional person. All in all, a solid buy and solid van.

This vehicle is much better than I expected. I was hoping for a reliable utility vehicle, but it is that and much more. After 7000 miles, the car has been not only reliable but extremely comfortable and quiet; actually luxurious. Mileage has been much better than expected and much better than reported by many other reviewers. I have never checked the mileage on just highway driving or just city driving but I have never been below 25mpg combined, and usually closer to 27mpg.

Lexus in disguise

Did a lot of research.Toss up between Sienna & Odyssey. I am disabled and need a AWD vehicle that can accommodate my scooter and me. I have a wooden right leg and need room to bend the leg to hit the gas. Dash board is high enough with no interference. AC outlet lets me charge scooter. The color is Silver Pine Mica with a Taupe Interior. It looks like a Lexus inside with the wood grain on the steering wheel, dash, and arm rests. Folding mirrors are the best thing they ever did.Should be standard on all vans. I have every option on this van except Lasser Cruise, HID Headlights, Spoiler & Satellite Radio. I wish it had the HID Headlights Standard with the Limited Pkg.

Bought used with 80K miles. THis is a wheelchair conversion van so can't comment about 2nd row seating. Now have 100K. No leaks. Transmission and engine very smooth. 20 MPG around town and 25-27 MPG on highway. Only repairs has been replacing the starter.

Use this vehicle to haul 8 family members to vacation, fuel economy is surprisingly good, above 27 mpg highway, quiet and comfortable, nothing to complain.
