Used 2005 Toyota RAV4 AWD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5M) Consumer Reviews
We RAV Toyota
My wife and I drove no car but Toyotas in last 30 years. RAV4 AWD is another great hit. Traction is so good that we no longer shovel snow on the drive way. Acceleration is remarkable given the size of the engine. Antilock brake is so effective on all road conditions, shine or rain.
luv my rav
I waited a while to switch to an SUV and as soon as I saw the RAV I knew it was the one. I am a loyal Toyota driver but did try other SUVs for comparison and I made a beeline back to the RAV. Toyota also offers very very good customer care. They are real people friendly. My first car was a Toyota Corolla SR5 in 1987 and I am sure my last car will be a Toyota.

Break Failure
My wife bought the 2005 Rav4 4 years ago, and has had to replace the rear breaks 3 times, going on four now. Everything else about the car she loves, but the constant issue with the rear breaks is causing us to sell. In their infinite wisdom, Toyota cheaped out on the rear breaks making them disk breaks, not drum breaks which they should be. We live in northern Vermont, 3 mile up a gravel road and my wife has to drive over a mountain pass everyday driving to work. Needless to say, we need working breaks, and the Rav4 has not provided it. The dealership has worked with us a little bit, but we still have speny about $2000 over the past 4 years on breaks alone. Very disappointed Rav4 owners!
Thought more of a Toyota
My wife purchased this without test driving other cars. Fell in love at first 10 minute drive up the street. Almost 1.5 years later she has been constantly begging to trade in for something with more space (the folding back seats do not lie flat), better gas mileage, and a smoother ride. For a vehicle built on the corolla platform it rides more like a hummer (military version). She is so dissapointed, that she will not consider another Toyota.
Great vehicle
I just purchased the rav 4 and it is great. I am 5'2" and it is the only small SUV that I drove and felt comfy in. It handles really well with great pick up and steering. It does take getting used to if you were used to driving a sedan as it is top heavy, but the rav4 doesn't lean as much as the other models I drove. I love the sporty look and the interior gauges are easy to read and fun to look at.
