Toyota stopped making the Prius V several years ago. A big mistake!! One of the best models every made with outstanding features. Many of the safey features on my Prius V are out of date and much better safety features are available now. At the time of purchase my Prius had all the latest safety features. I just had my second car battery (not EV batteries) installed. I just had my 3rd set of tires. No other repair has been needed. I just had some issue with a information screen that is not coming up now. My Prius is not 9 years old so would expect the tires and batteries to need to be replaced. The Prius V 5 continues to be my families favorite car over our Lexus NX. It just has some much leg room, head room, storage, that hard to find in any other car. I would buy again if they still made them.

The gas mileage is as good as claimed: 44 city 50 highway (as long as you don't go above 65 to 70). Take the Edmunds print out with you to the dealership. We did that and used it to negotiate an extra almost $1,000 off the price of the car.

When I was 18 my favorite car was a new SS 396 Chevelle. Now that I'm 66 THIS is my favorite. Model 5 is pricey but I wanted the safety features and panoramic roof, not so much the Entune App Suite. The Prius V interior is a high step up from the basic Prius and not offensive to my passengers who own a luxury vehicle. During the positive test drive I took a model 3 over well known hazardous streets with stop and go driving. It never occurred to me to turn on the sound system until I was driving my own purchase home a week later, no complaints. I too didn't feel competent with the rear camera until I had a trusting friend stand behind the car. I stopped and parked once the red line was on top of her feet. The owner's manual states the red line is 1.5 ft. but seeing is believing. MPG increases to high 40s with mixed driving using premium grade gas, non-aggressive driving in ECO mode and no AC. The dash indicator for MPG is about 1-2 mi. higher than actual arithmetic at the pump. Comes with several detailed easy to understand manuals. No experience with ice/snow/mud. Got Toyota mud guards and after market floor liners; also dealer door edge guards and rear bumper applique, no complaints. Use padding in the cargo area, hard surfaces like seat backs scratch easily. Would like the telescoping steering wheel to extend further; good for small drivers. Tall passengers make positive comments about height and leg room, especially while using the sliding and reclining back seat. No extra-large passenger yet. Trade in and cash rebate helped; sales tax and admin fees didn't. Update: 9345 miles. Average mixed mileage 37, less than advertised. Dash MPG indicator is consistently 2-3 miles higher than true, which I reported to Service Department on both scheduled visits; no one seemed to care. I stopped using premium gas after reliable publications said to stop wasting money at the pump. Could this be why MPG gas dropped? Instead, I often use top-tier regular fuel. Exterior paint is vulnerable to road debris. No regrets after 14 mo. of ownership. The silver color is still my favorite. Update: 18806 miles. MPG 33-39. I purchased Toyota Care after the original expired. No unplanned service visits. No problems with navigation, audio, or safety features. Body & interior remain in new-condition. Tires wear well and do well in 4-5 inch snow and sleet-ice mix. I haul bagged garden soil & sand, shrubs, pavers, & recently a boxed 36x80 storm door. Toyota USA stopped Prius v with the 2017 model due to sales (4-5K 2015), still sold Internationally. This model is silver with 2-tone gray interior and still receives compliments from random people. I would buy this car again.

My New Love

I love this car! It is so comfortable and has almost everything going for it. I love the general comfort, the feel of the car when driving, the super adjustments of the front seat and the technology. The adaptive cruise control was definitely worth the extra money for the top model. I wish there was back vents for the air conditioning. I have had my car for almost three years now and I still love it. I feel like my body fits into it comfortably and gets me to an appropriate height to see out the front well. The front drivers seat adjusts up and down which is great. The visibility out the sides is much better than my old standard Prius. I have not had any problems with it and besides general maintenance I have only needed to replace tires this year.

Ridiculous Pricing

I really wanted a sunroof. To get one you had to buy the 5 with the advanced tech package putting the price in a range I found ridiculous. Thus I am still shopping. I do wish Toyota would make it easier to select the options you want because I did like the test drive and in many ways the Prius V would be a good car for me.
