Sporty little sedan

I acquired this car from my niece who had put 80k on it with only normal maintenance. She was buying a new car after this one was hit by a deer on her drivers door. Other than some residual, barely visible dimpling on the door panel after pulling out the dents, the car looks brand new, both on the interior and the exterior. I've owned a few 3 series BMWs, an Audi and a Camry V6 LE. The Corolla is not in the same class but it's very comfortable and reliable. The ride was unremarkable when I got it -- I immediately researched tires and and swapped in some road-hugging Falkens -- the difference was dramatic, transforming the car into a nimble and sporty little imp. Toyota makes great reliable cars but they need to get their act together on the tires. I've heard complaints from owners of newer Camrys who got poor tread wear out of the tires that came on their cars. This little Toyota with its 1.8 engine and upgraded tires performs well for me and I'm a type A driver. Passing speed is fine on the freeway, but then I'm only judging it with at most two adults in the car. As with every Toyota I've been in, the seats are great. I'm 6'2 and 250. Only negs are having to bend head low getting in but comfortable with good headroom once settled (actually better than the old Camry) and changing a tail light was more annoying than it should have been due to sketchy instructions and fear of damaging plastic components. The sound system on my base model is very good and plays burnt "archival" cds but not as good as the higher end cars I've owned. This is my 3rd Toyota overall and with just routine maintenance I'd trust it to go anywhere and get me back safely.

This car maintains great 30+ MPG even with a full load of groceries, kids and a dog (don't ask how we do do it). Oil changes are the only maintenance we have done to it since we bought in 2010. Very reliable.

I bought my 2010 basic Corolla A/T 3 months back and I must say that I am loving it. I was initially considering a Yaris, but the Corolla was just priced well enough for me to switch. I am a city driver and am getting 30mpg average. But when on freeways, staying around 55-60mph gets me over 45mpg easily. The engine gives decent acceleration and the brakes are not touchy, the standard speakers (4) are decent and the dash-board layout is straight-forward, and overall the exterior is respectable.

The seats are full of lint

I had a honda civic since 2006 and I figured I would try something new. In Sept I purchased a Corolla LE.. The car seems ok but the material for the seats is horrible. It is a gray material and it picks up lint. I mean it is really bad. The car is two months old and the seats are filled with tiny pieces of lint. I called Toyota and they said that is the first that they have heard of it. I am very frustrated. I can't remove it with a lint roller. I have to pick each piece individually. WOW!!! all those things I heard about Toyota are true.... bummer!!!!
