2003 Toyota Corolla LE 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

I bought my 2003 Corolla LE in June of this year and still haven't decided if it was the right decision. The handling is very poor on the highway and on windy days. There is a problem in the delay of the acceleration of the gas pedal. Not enough leg room on the drivers side. I'm short and my knees almost touch the dash. Visor hits mirror even with moving it over. Poor visibility out rear view mirror due to the headrests. It may get great gas mileage and is very sharp looking, but I have to question the safety aspects of this vehicle with the confined space on the drivers side.

2003 LE versus 1993 LE

I guess I am one of the few who think the interior fake wood trim is gaudy, and the high visibility dash is annoying. I would have considered the CE, but it is not available with cruise control - in spite of the Toyota brochure. Is Toyota is playing marketing games with pricing ? The LE does not come standard with Cruise, yet every LE in my area has Cruise from the factory. Possible gimmick to make the price appear to be less than $ 16,000 ? My 1993 Corolla LE came standard with more options that the 2003 !

Sharp Vehicle

2003 Toyota Corolla S 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

We just purchased this vehicle and the first night we drove it home, the check engine light came on. The dealer is ordering parts to replace some malfunctioning computer chips. I was disappointed to have problems with a new car so soon. But I'm banking on the Toyota reliability and hoping for the best. The dealership has been very cooperative and fair. We purchased the car because the S model looks sharp in white and is very economical with gas. We need a dependable vehicle since we put so much mileage on annually.

Nice car with some minor quirks

The Corolla is very roomy with a hugh trunk. The interior is the best part of the car, it looks expensive. However, I can not get a comfortable driving position. I am 6 feet tall, if I push the seat back far enough for my legs, the steering wheel is too far away. The suspension could use a little more refinement. The car seems to get affected by cross wind quite a bit. Sometime the car kind of float on the highway. The best gas mileage we seen was 32 at a highway only trip. Our average in mixed driving is around 29. This is not bad, but I expect a little better considering the advertised 30city/38highway.
