Used 2018 Toyota Camry Sedan Consumer Reviews
Disappointed..
I was very excited for this vehicle and I have mostly loved this vehicle up until about two weeks ago.. I have had some issues with the car taking extra time to accelerate, and a few other issues like my phone not connecting to bluetooth or my contact pictures showing up for the wrong people when I make calls from my favorites list. I considered these issues minor because I love the look of the car, it mostly drives smoothly, and it is great on gas. However, about two weeks ago I headed up to the dealership for a routine vehicle service and on the way up there one of my tires burst! Mind you, I bought this car brand new near the end of August and this was in October. The dealership kept telling me it was my fault, and that I had hit something which caused the tire to burst. Then, they told me one of my other tires was close to bursting too, even though I clearly had not hit something on that one either! $570.00 later, I had two brand new tires on my brand new car and my alignment fixed (somehow was messed up when the tire burst?). When I told my husband what happened at the dealership, he spoke with one of his friends who bought the same model Camry from the same dealership and one of his tires had burst a few weeks before as well! I really want to love this car, but this situation is ridiculous to me. I had only owned used cars before this vehicle, and I never had any issues like this with any other car..

Love the car, te sunroof leaks
I absolutely love everything about this car..................except the moon/sunroof. It started leaking water from the rain two and a half weeks after purchasing the car brand new. The dealership told me that's normal and they all do that. There were drops of water on the inside of the sunroof and the rubber seal was still wet the next morning after the rain had stopped. My girlfriend has a Ford Edge with a panoramic moon roof that has never leaked any water. Very unhappy with this.

Not Recommended
Purchased a 2018 Camry XLE V6 pretty much fully loaded. Because of some significant items I would not purchase the vehicle again and don’t recommend it. (Revised 2019-02-13) First, the drive train is unacceptable. This is the forth Toyota vehicle I have had with the V6 engine, and the only vehicle in which the transmission both up and down shifts can be uneven and jarring. At times when the vehicle accelerates slowly by the driver gently depressing the gas pedal there is a noticeable pulsing of the vehicle acceleration. Doesn’t matter what mode the transmission is in. Dealer reset the vehicle computer so that the system can "re-learn" the driver inputs - no improvement. Second, the Radar Speed Control is poorly implemented and is a serious safety concern. If a leading vehicle turns off the road to the right the Radar Speed Control drops out and the vehicle brakes- and immediately after braking the brakes are then released - if the vehicle is on a hill it can start rolling backwards. This is a serious safety concern with the possibility of being rear-ended when there are following vehicles. Also, when using the Radar Speed Control and approaching stopped vehicles the Camry will continue at constant speed or accelerate until the only recourse is emergency braking. Additionally, when attempting to resume travel via the speed control there are instances when the speed control suddenly disengages. Dealer says speed control is working within specs. This disappointing, because I otherwise like the vehicle. It’s comfortable, has good performance and handling, 34 MPG when highway cruising at 70-75 MPH, I like the panoramic sunroof, it has a good sound system, I appreciate the automatic high-beam system, the heads-up display is good, good AC/heating, and I like the touch screen. Other less desirable items: This Lane Departure Control is not very useful. When the vehicle drifts toward a lane stripe the system does not alert the driver until the vehicle is significantly over the lane line and into the adjacent lane. If corrective action is taken by the system the vehicle swings from one side of the lane to the other side of the lane and never centers in the lane. Better than nothing, but … After remotely starting the Camry engine and then opening the car door, while in possession of the fob, the engine shuts off. If someone has the fob then they can do whatever they want – so why shut off the engine? We have many streets with a 25 MPH speed limit, but the Radar Speed Control will not set that low. The touch screen has a Valet mode to protect the screen and sound system and the glove-box can be locked and the key removed from the fob. But there is no way to lock the trunk and prevent entry when the Camry is given up for valet parking. (I believe previous Camrys had a trunk lock feature to disable opening the trunk with the fob?) Most other 2018-2019 vehicles with an active speed control will, after automatically braking when a leading vehicle stops, automatically resumes when the leading resumes its forward motion. Why doesn't Toyota includes this as a user option for the Radar Speed Control? Most items in today’s vehicle are software controlled. Toyota should provide software fixes for the transmission, the Radar Speed Control, lane departure, and remote starting. A minor hardware and software change to the trunk lock could probably fix the trunk valet issue. Don't like the high monthly fees for Toyota remote services once trial periods end.
