It's an amazing car. I've added a Magnaflow exhaust system, and my 5M V6 sounds amazing. Love the V6. Great passing power. Handles well in snow. Love the JBL! system. The throws are a little long, but it is overall very smooth. Only down side is turning radius and handling in extremely tight quarters.

I bought my Solara over 3 years ago at 50K. Now its at 99.6K and has never left me stranded. Replaced timing belt, brakes, window fell off track once and valve cover gaskets and struts most recently. The car does have a smoking issue still, and has oil changes no more than every 3K (castrol syntec). Just now needing a transmission checkup and probably a flush. The ac compressor makes noise but hasn't died yet. Overall it's great, minor maintenance compared to vehicles.

I bought this car in 2006 with 31,000 miles i now have 252,000 miles and the only trouble i had was the check engine light came on with a p401 code I replaced vsv valve, the egr valve and a vacuum modulator For a cost of $600.00 parts & labor this happend at 251,098 miles I have owned just about every american made car there is and without a doubt this is the best car i ever owned, i have had nothing but troubles with those cars they spent more time in the repair shop then on the road! It seems american car manufacters are more interestead in Quanity than quality. Even with 252,000 miles this car still runs like new smooth 4 cylinder 2.2 motor, smooth shifting transmission rides like a Lexus. I wish they still made this car i would buy one in a heart beat. I belive i can still get another 250 k more miles from this car without any major repairs, Oh what a feeling, lets go places, you asked for it you got it toyota I won't buy anything else but a toyota Proven reliability

Luxury on a Dime

The Solara must have been one of the most underrated cars there is. You have to go for the full SLE class to enjoy the full benefit. But I am just shocked at the value I got for such a low price. This is a semi-luxury car at a mid-price range. Anything else you get for the same feature and smoothness with a different brand will cost you at least an extra $10K. The car is an absolute beauty inside and out. There is room for everyone, front or back, and the leather quality is top notch. The engine is Lexus-like (is it?) smooth but runs like a cheetah. This is yet another major quality accomplishment Toyota provides.

2001 TRD solara- Awesome car! I love it!

I bought a 2001 se v6 solara which are very rare. Many aftermarket upgrades have been done. It has a TRD short throw shifter, TRD exhuast which adds about 5-10hp, TRD 7 piece body kit, 18 inch TSW wheels, TRD springs and struts which lower the car 2 inches, and i've also put in a K&N filter(+5hp) which also boosted the Horsepower. The car rides like a dream and handles great as well. The 5 speed transmission is a blast to drive and the car wants to get up and go. The car is very comfortable and incredibly roomy for a 2 door coupe. I do not have any complaints about the car and the car has been getting an avg. of 28 mpg combo of city/highway driving!! I highly recommend this car to all!!
