Disappointed with Steering Problem

2006 Toyota Avalon Limited 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Purchased the car in early 2006. I now have 60,000 miles and I am experiencing problems with my steering. I have taken it back to the dealership several times for the steering sticking when turning left but they informed me that they can not find anything wrong. I am very disappointed with Toyota and see that many others are experiencing the same problem. My hope is that I will not experience the same problem that others are experiencing with the oil leak. Unless Toyota steps up and own up to fixing the legitimate repairs, I will never buy another Toyota. I am currently getting the runaround. Even though I have the extended warranty, Toyota is trying to get around fixing my problem.

Seriously, the person i purchased the car from was meticulous about changing the oil every 2,500-3,000 miles. I have a stack of receipts to prove this. I've owned it now for 1 year and put 25,000 of the miles on it. Ive read that VVT timing is an issue on many similar models. That is the valve timing when intake and exhaust valves open and close for maximum power and efficiency. I'm a lead foot driver and i'll be honest here. I previously owned a $100,000 exotic BMW with a V12 engine. I had that car up to 155 mph a couple times in safe conditions. This 2006 Avalon puts out the same horsepower and ive had it up to 135 mph. It has large disc brakes on all 4 wheels and very crisp accelerationonce you get to know the drive by wire throttle lag timing. That means there's like a bluetooth connection between gas pedal and the venturis opening and making the engine rev. its somewhat annoying but hey, so many other pluses in this car like the sport shift transmission. Great for downshifting on hills. Porsche has Triptonic transmission i was impressed with. Now ive got the feature in my Avalon. 300,000 andthe engine has never had a c ylinder head removed. My smooth idle tells me ive got good compression in all cylinders still. What a car! Thank you Toyota!

I bought this car after the birth of my son. I wanted a good car that would last 10 yrs. and hold its value. I’m usually a sport car/sedan kind of guy so this was a big leap for me. I have been pleasantly pleased with the car's overall character. I love the interior space and omission of unnecessary features. I added an aftermarket wood grain kit that covers the entire dash in the factory wood trip. The car now looks a lot more luxurious. My main concern is the appearance of squeaks and rattles. I would not expect this on a Toyota, especially one in this price range.

After owning this car, it is easy to see why Toyota is doing so well. This American designed and built car is like owning a Lexus but costs much less. The blizzard-white pearl paint job is beautiful. Also owning a fuel stingy Rav4, I am also impressed with Avalon's 31 mpg on the highway. I test drove a Lexus and previously owned a Volvo, but the Avalon was such a great car for the money.
