Used 2006 Toyota Avalon Consumer Reviews
Great Luxury Car at a Reasonable Price
My new 2006 XLS drives much smoother and has a great overall feel compared to my prevous 2001 Avalon and all the other competitors that I tested in its class. The 2006 also seems much roomier, especially in the back seats. Gas mileage is exceptional for a car with its size and accelaration.
An Excellent Vehicle
This is, without a doubt, the nicest and most enjoyable vehicle I've ever owned. It has everything I look for in a car; comfort, agility, and power. The exterior design is understated, yet stylish. The interior is extremely quiet and the controls are clean and logically laid out. The ride is smooth but not spongy. It has excellent acceleration and power while also providing respectable gas mileage. I enjoy driving this car in town; however, it really shines on the highway. The 12-speaker audio system is outstanding. The Limited comes with some "gee-whiz" features such as the heated/ventilated seats and power rear shade. I may not use them often, but it's nice to have when you do.

Mixed Feelings
I looked for some time at sedans for less than $35K. I immediately fell in love with the Avalon and bought the Touring for a bit more of a sporty/youthful feel (I am 35). Surprisingly, I have had numerous problems with the vehicle. Broken trim, complete replacement of moonroof (2x), Tech bulletin replacement of catalytic converter, replacement of faulty A-pillar (front passenger) trim. I went into this aware of Toyota's build quality so I want to believe I bought a bad instance of a great car. A bit disappointed and am considering trading it in on an alternative vehicle.
Good for summer, bad for winter
Nice when the weather is warm, but truly awful when the snow is falling. The car's computers can't seem to figure out what to do in snow. Bad traction and very inconclusive driving response. Shame on Toyota! Remote start doesn't allow me get in without turning off car, and it doesn't allow me to get out of car with the engine running and lock the doors. Duh?
We Love our Avalon
We love our new Avalon! It drives and handles beautifully. It is extremely quiet inside the vehicle and there is plenty of room for my three children in the backseat.
