Used 2006 Toyota Avalon Consumer Reviews
Loss of engine oil with no warning light
I purchased my car almost 3 yrs ago, everything was great until it reached 33000 miles; suddenly the engine produced loud noise, it was a complete loss of engine oil with no warning light in the dashboard. The dealer was very familiar with the problem before I even spoke. He asked me if it was the loss of engine oil. I would like Toyota to look into this problem. Otherwise the car is great and I love it.
A few problems
I'm really surprised at this car. It looked great, and the professional reviews were AWESOME. But I've had problems -- lots of minor ones. I wonder if the magazine reviewers get specially prepped cars from Toyota? My Avy has transmission hesitation, a few squeaks and the front windshield now that it is cold CAN NOT stay free of ice or snow. In Iowa, that's a BIG problem. I find the front seats uncomfortable for longer trips. The back seats are nicer.

So Far So good
After having the Mazda 626 (2000) the Avalon Limited is quite a jump. The jump has been good I find the interior to be roomy and comfortable. The car is big. While it isn't a sports car, it is nimble. Noise is very low The rear seating room is immense. Control location for driver is convenient.
Great Luxury Car at a Reasonable Price
My new 2006 XLS drives much smoother and has a great overall feel compared to my prevous 2001 Avalon and all the other competitors that I tested in its class. The 2006 also seems much roomier, especially in the back seats. Gas mileage is exceptional for a car with its size and accelaration.
An Excellent Vehicle
This is, without a doubt, the nicest and most enjoyable vehicle I've ever owned. It has everything I look for in a car; comfort, agility, and power. The exterior design is understated, yet stylish. The interior is extremely quiet and the controls are clean and logically laid out. The ride is smooth but not spongy. It has excellent acceleration and power while also providing respectable gas mileage. I enjoy driving this car in town; however, it really shines on the highway. The 12-speaker audio system is outstanding. The Limited comes with some "gee-whiz" features such as the heated/ventilated seats and power rear shade. I may not use them often, but it's nice to have when you do.
