Outstanding highway car
I travel about 30,000 miles per year in my job. The Avalon is an ideal choice for this type of use. Definitely a Lexus in a Toyota wrapper.
Why did I wait so long to buy an Avalon?
I have owned many automobiles over the past 70 years of my life including: 39 Ford Coupe, hot-rod Plymouth (yes, there were such things, Fords, Pontiac and Oldsmobile big engine daddys, Cadillacs, Camrys, and finally, the most pleasing automobile of all: My Avalon XLS. Wow!

Great Car
I went in looking for a Toyota Highlander (own one) and came out with the Avalon. I purchased the ES model with only option being power seats . The dealership, price, But more importantly the Car sold me.
Toyota is the best
I love the Avalon!
An Excellent Value & Lots of Room
The Avalon XLS is driven primarily by my wife, but it is our family car when we go places together, and then I usually drive. With an on-the-road price of $33,000, it is an exceptional value. Our friends in the back seat consistently applaud the 40+ inches of rear leg room -- same as in a Mercedes "S" sedan. Totally reliable, too.
My Review
I used to own a 1993 Acura Legend and was totally satisfied with it until a friend from my college days bought a 1995 Avalon XLS. Was in-audible, and the transmission was the smoothest sounding I had heard, even from my finely maintained Acura. I guess it was from then on I decided to purchase my own Avalon, but I had onyl bought a new Acura but two years ago. I recently sold my Acura and had been saving money so I decided to pursue my dream, I bought a 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS equipped with all the original Toyota goodies offered. I did end up paying a hefty price but it was well worth it. I chose all the options available.
I'M IN HEAVEN!
I feel like i'm floating on a cloud. The ride is so smoothe. There are no "blind" areas. My previous car was a Gran Prix. It had all of the bells and whistles, but had a very hard ride. I get a new car every 5 years...Can't wait to see what Toyota has in store for 2008!

The ride is very comfortable. The accelation is very smooth. The rear room is spacious and relax.
2003 avalon xls
Test drive before you shop Lexus ES300 or Infiniti I35 sedan. Very Quiet and roomy, good acceleration, feels like a Lexus inside. Exterior Styling bland but functional. A Japanese Buick, with higher quality than its American counterpart. Low maintenance and insurance rates.
Great Car
We have owned buicks, oldsmobiles, hondas, station wagons, and have test driven all of the larger sedans, including Mercedes, Maxima, Mazda, and Lexus, prior to buying this Avalon. They either have too much road or wind noise. I cannot tolerate the least of those. For the money, I do not think there is a better buy. It is truly the smoothest quietest ride we have experienced. We tried them all. I am very picky about wind and road noise. Sales people do not like to deal with me.
