Awesome 4runner!
For me, the ride, power, comfort of this 4runner is perfect! I know at a cost over $40,000 new, this wouldn't be for me. But buying it at a great used price and it was well cared for by previous owner. It has 182,000 on it but you wouldn't know it. I think the one drawback to this would be the timing belt. On this engine damgage can occur if belt would break. From what I hear , it is costly to have done at a dealership to have the belt replaced. I plan on doing it myself however. I have driven it in slippery road conditions and it has performed excellent! Better then my 4wd Tacoma. Knowing what I know now...I would have had one sooner if the price was right.

Finally a vehicle that fits me.
I test drove all the mid sized SUVs on the market. The 4runner was by far the best fit for me. I am 6-2 and 235lbs. This is the first midsized SUV that my shoulder wasn't pinned to the door. I drove the Pathfinder, Explorer, Discovery, and the Envoy several times. This vehicle is by far the roomiest in the front seat. Could be a bit better on gas and could use a tad more room in the cargo area. But I knew that when I bought it. The heated seats are a must. The navigation system is cool and impresses your friends with the back up camera. The engine is quick and the whole truck feels very solid. The ride is quiet even at highway speeds. It cut through deep Minnesota snow easily.
Rock Solid Performer & a Keeper!
Between my wife and I, we have owned many vehicles. If we had to pick "one" to live with from the many...this would be it. Not flashy (frame/ladder design versus newer design) - don't hear much about it in the media and the limited version is a little pricey. However, this is a safe (full compliment of airbags), reliable, go anywhere, do anything (towing, off road or a wedding), solid performer. We plan on owning this one for a long time - and we can because of reliability. We have had no issues besides routine maintenance (brakes, battery, timing belt change). Sad that Toyota no longer offers this rig w/a V8. Will have to look at the Lexus variant when its time to purchase in the future.
Don't Buy A TOY!
This is primarily my wife's vehicle and she was reasonably happy with it until she broke it! She performed an emergency stop and the transfer case exploded!!! $3200 later she is back on the road but we now treat this like the TOY it is. This is the third AWD vehicle that has been in our family and the first that she managed to break. There were only 51,000 miles on the vehicle at the time but it was too old for any warranty claim. We approached Toyota USA and they made it clear they were not interested. So we lost interest in replacing our BMW X5 with A Lexus in light of this. We are now trying to decide if the TOY goes before the older BMW. UPDATE: Nearly a year since we dumped the TOY and bought another BMW. NO REGRETS!!! Never buy another TOY and will stick with real vehicles from now on. UPDATE: Still no regrets after dumping the TOY!! Never buy another.

The best mid sized SUV
This is without a doubt one of the best vehicles made in the world regardless of price. Fit and finish of my new 4 Runner is almost flawless. I recommend the X-REAS Sport Enhancement Suspension. Creature comforts abound in this vehicle. Get the V8 which is awesome if you're not worried about mileage. Its a smooth rush of power through the entire power curve! Hard to believe this SUV weighs almost 4500 lbs. I recently drove in about 18 inches of fresh snow and my 4 Runner never breathed hard. Its as quite as any Lexus or BMW sedan Ive ever owned. It has that German feel to the entire vehicle but fortunately has Toyotas legendary reliability. I could not be happier with my new 2005 LTD
