This is my first Toyota, owning mostly american cars/suv's in the past 30 years. I can say I am pleased with the 4runner overall, only having the most common complaint a loose driver seat. I even checked the 2005 and 2006 and it's true, "they all do that". Just grab the drivers seat where your thigh would go and rock it back and forth. Toyota did replaced the seat, but had no change. I would buy this SUV again, but may lean towards the limited model or at least electric seats.

Good News/Bad News

Came to the 4 Runner after 2 Explorers and a Mountaineer. The big difference is the loss of storage space. Whether it is the loss of the room under the back seat for such things as the umbrella or the sunshade, fire extinguisher etc. or that neat place in the floor at the rear for storing the tow hitch and the adapters for towing the space just isn't there. Fuel economy is running at 18 mpg at an average speed of 24 mph. The camera for reversing is a novelty but we preferred the sensor set-up.The choice of colors is very limited and they are all boring. On the plus side the fit/finish are at least on par with Mercedes.

Good Choice

Overall, I love this truck. I look for excuses to drive it around town. It feels extremely well-built and confident in even the most severe conditions. I previously owned a Pathfinder that didn't feel nearly this "buttoned-down" in bad weather. The brakes are far superior to those on the Pathfinder as well. Interior space isn't as good as the Pathy but it's definitely a sacrifice I am willing to make given all the other features the 4Runner has. It's a great choice if you're in the market for a mid-size SUV.

We love this car, should have bought one a long time ago. I've owned several toyotas and this is my favorite so far. They finally got rid of the slide out cup holders just under the cd player, and the new ones are great I can fit a large Nalgene bottle it it, they are are adjustable for smaller cups, and they don't get in the way of any of the controls. The 4runner is very comfortable and controls are all in a handy location. Plenty of power - for what I need - quiet, and the third row option is great for my little girls. The engine is larger than our last SUV and the gas mileage is better. It is also a little wider than they used to be so its more roomy.
