Used 2004 Toyota 4Runner Consumer Reviews
Solid SUV gets better
I had a 98 4Runner for 3 years. Returned it because the lease expired and drove an Integra for 2 years. I couldn't stand the small car and had to go back to my trusty SUV. The 98 4Runner was a very nice car, but Toyota has really refined this SUV over the years. I'm still getting used to the exterior design, but everything else has been improved. Power is excellent, interior is more spacious, the old cupholders have been destroyed and replaced by a much more intelligent design. A little more headroom would be nice and those panels above the wheels still look weird, but I've got no complaints about anything else.
Great SUV
This SUV is the best buy for the money. The V8 is supurb. I avg. about 20 mpg. It handles great on the road and it's quiet. Fit and finish on the vehicle is top notch. I was considering a Nissan Murano before I took a look at the 4Runner. I'm glad I did!. I was also looking at the Honda Pilot, but the dealers weren't budging from MSRP, plus the lack of styles and colors at the lots. The 4Runner is a great SUV, I recommend it!

One of the best SUV'S
I love my 2004 4runner sports edition. The plus side to the sports edition compared to the SR5 is the inside of the sports edition is a lot better. The drive is really smooth on the highways and city streets.
4Runner
My first brand new vehicle and I chose the 2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5. A great buy with many included options like a CD/Tape player with 6 speakers, moonroof, power everything, running boards, and leather. Very roomy for me at 6'1". Lots of leg room and very comfortable during long drives. The gas mileage is acceptable since it is an SUV. A great family vehicle and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in owning an SUV.
Strong 4000cc V6 engine 245 hp
I bought 2004 4Runner SR5 V6. Power is enough, space is enough, basic 6 speakers are good enough in bass to treble, noise level is quiet enough (67dB@70mph), the rear door closes electrically. Only thing I dislike is my (driver's) seat back, that does not fit to my back completely. And like many Japanese cars, it locks doors when you shift gear P to D and does not release automatically when you arrive and park.(you should manually open locks for rear passengers to get out) However, its safety rating at NHTSA and IIHS outperforms "ALL" other SUV's, and overall, I am 99% satisfied with my new 2004 4Runner SR5 V6.
