the new 2003 4-runner
i spent several months looking for my 4- runner in order to get the best deal.i met some real jerks and some seemingly nice people. this vehicle has been more than what i expected. nice smooth ride. still working on the mileage. it is inching upto 20 mpg. i am only up to 2700 miles
4Runner Sport Tops
We looked at some Jeep Cherokees and Dodge Durangos.... not even in the same ballpark, muchless the same league. Everything about this vehicle has been impressive, from the quality to the surprisingly good fuel mileage. For someone who never wanted an SUV, I have thoroughly enjoyed this workhorse.

This has all the marbles
After doing, months of research on buying an SUV I finally decided to purchase 2003 V8 Limited 4Runner. This vehicle is exceptional in every possible manner; however I'll mention a couple of things that this vehicle could benefit from: 1. Add memory seats to driver side (most competitors offer this now days) 2. Add more storage bins Besides these, the SUV is fantastic and I highly recommend it.
Worth the money
Had it for 30 days/2K miles and very happy thusfar. Good power for a V-6, nicely appointed inside & out, very solid. Nice to have an inventory to choose from, too (unlike the Pilots)! Gas mileage has been pleasantly tolerable (18.5 - 20 mpg). My only complaint is, why do five 4Runners sitting side-by-side on the dealer lot have 5 different makes of tires? I got Dunlops but wanted the Michelins on the almost identical vehicle right next to it. Dealer wouldn't budge "for legal reasons". So far, extremely pleased & would recommend it highly. Unless you're definitely towing something, save yourself some money and don't pay extra for the V-8. The V-6 is plenty.
My Trusty Companion
Nearly 6 years and 60,000 trouble free miles later, this truck is still very solid and drives like new. I take meticulous care of my vehicles and the 4Runner has certainly returned the favor. The interior has held up well and the drivetrain has been bulletproof. Unstoppable in inclement weather and supremely capable on 4WD trails. I purchased this vehicle for its off road prowess and it has never let me down. Very comfortable highway ride with decent handling and fuel economy for a truck based midsize SUV. The 4 speed automatic transmission, though smooth, could use an extra gear. (This changed with the 2005 V6 models however, as a 5 speed auto came standard).
