Which 2026 Model Y trim does Edmunds recommend?
Picking a Model Y is simple at this point because there's only one version: the Long Range. You just need to decide whether you want the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive or the Long Range All-Wheel Drive. We recommend getting the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive because it's less expensive and has more range. But if you want extra traction for wintertime driving on snowy or icy roads, the Long Range All-Wheel Drive is certainly the way to go.
2026 Model Y trim level differences
The 2026 Tesla Model Y is a fully electric small crossover SUV. Tesla initially sold it in the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Launch Series configuration. Since then, Tesla has introduced the Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive versions. Tesla has also said a less expensive version of Model Y will debut later in the year. We don't yet know what it will be called, or whether it will be for the 2026 or 2027 model year.
