Used 2010 Subaru Forester Consumer Reviews
Drives like a car, roomy like an SUV
I would best describe the Forester as a "nice" automobile. It does everything well, but nothing outstanding (which is not a knock on it). It seats five, pulls a small trailer, can handle dirt roads and snow, usable large storage area, good visibility, good highway manners, etc. A very solid vehicle.
Second Subie
I had a 2005 Forester and the head gasket blew last year at 167,000. Bought a cheap Jeep before X- mas and decided on another Forester this year. Rides like a go-cart and and gets great gas mileage. The awd is a necessity up North. The ability to press a button and lock em in is a great improvement. This rig is easy to park and will go most anywhere in any weather. Missed my old one...glad I got this one.
Good car for the money
I love the outside styling of this car, and you sit up very high. Handles well on country roads, good pick up on the highway, you have to watch your speed. Have to warn you, the carpet is poor quality, almost looks like it is wearing out already, and it is brand new. I don't like the "velvet" texture of the doors, this too is hard to keep clean. Not the interior for you if you have dogs or little kids, it would drive you insane.
2.5X Limited
I have owned my 2010 Forester 2.5X Limited for almost a month now and so far I am extremely happy with it! The Forester handles great in the snowy ND weather and rides like a dream. I love the roomy interior for both front seat passengers as well as back seat passengers. I also added the following accessories: body side moldings, hood protector kit, moonroof deflector, splash guard kit, wheel moldings, luggage cover, trailer hitch, rear bumper cover, & wheel arch kit. Vehicle is sharp looking and versatile.
my Subi
So I am a repeat customer of Subaru Forester's. I am still driving the Subi I am rating. It's slow off the line. It loves to go through the snow. I've put it through over 100 thousand miles. It's been in 2 accidents. I bought it with a trade in of my 2001 Forester. I should have kept the 2001 Forester. Both had issues with head gaskets and burning oil. I think that this is a crucial failure in both of these. That being said, the ride of these cars, their storage space, and their overall performance are a perfect fit for me. I am a Subaru customer for life. I know that they will need excessive maintenance overall. I am better informed on the vehicles needs having spent over 10k in repairs. They need some tlc. The winter tire I'm most impressed with on both Forester's is the Bridgestone Blizzak. Worth the extra cost and get them siped. I think that they should be handled with a soft foot given the issues with head gaskets. They do well overall in my state of Utah and they crush the snow. I am excited to get my 3rd Forester with the appropriate updates. I drove one when Nate Wade replaced my head gasket at a premium cost of 2600. I can accept high upkeep costs as long as I am expecting any of the major issues at all times.
