the good - looks decent, good rear storage, lots of room for kids in back seat, decent towing capacity the bad - noisy engine, uncomfortable seats front, poor drink holders, well hidden heated seat controllers, stupid blue light over rear mirror, small controls for stereo and cruise. the ugly - the stereo is poor, but above all .... it RATTLES ! various cheap plastic components rattle under all conditions, the ceiling, the doors, the dash, the windows, the trunk, front heat deflector.
Don't expect more than what you pay for
Subaru 2.5x Special Edition. I bought the 2010 Forester based on safety ratings and reliable all wheel drive. It drives great in heavy rain. The interior is roomy enough for a tall 6'3" man to fit comfortably front and back. The cargo area has an outlet for a fan and fits the dog and dog bed perfectly. Like the other reviews mentioned, you hear road noise. I had my non-Subaru mechanic take it for a spin & he said it was because the engine itself is so quiet. The interior fixings aren't great, but the car was about 10k less than what most of my friends have paid for American SUVs. Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase and hope to keep the car 10- 12 years.
Attention auto industry : follow Subaru!
I drive a lot and when I'm in my car, I want everything to be perfect. My last car was a Lexus GS350 and I couldn't stand the rattles. I've heard some complain about rattling, however I've found that if you just tuck everything away in the back such as the center seat belt, rear cover, etc., there aren't any rattles at all. I love my Forester and I'm a Suby fan for life. Funny thing is, I used to despise Subaru. Now I think it would take a lot for another manufacturer other than a high line manufacturer to wow me like Subaru
Rattle trap
Should have know better as my 06 Forester rattled from the day I drove it off the lot. Within a month the 2010 Forrester passenger side door started to rattle and then the drivers side door. Dealer can't find the source. It's now to the point where I feel like I'm driving a popcorn popper. The vehicle gets good mileage, handles well, has great utility and is great in Vermont winters but the rattling takes the fun out of driving it. I'm going to start a "Share the Hate Campaign" on You Tube! I'd look at Honda or Toyota even though a little more costly than the Subaru. I contacted Subaru Corporate and their response was "Contact your dealer." No responsibility. They just build them!!
