2023 Base Macan vs Macan S
My wife and I went round and round for weeks about the base vs the S. I actually wanted the Cayenne but it's her primary car and said she preferred the Macan. I said, if we get the Macan it's gotta be the S. We'll I lost out on that decision too. She wanted the volcano gray base macan with the leather pkg and some nice wheels. I gotta admit the base macan is absolutely fantastic. I'm sure the S is nicer and more powerful and amazing to drive but we are 100% thrilled with the 4 cylinder. It's all the comfort and speed we need. It's my wife's car and she loves it. I try and drive it every chance I get. It's a pleasure to drive and you will be happy with either car.

Excellent vehicle but not perfect
I bought my 2022 Macan S after a 6 month wait after ordering. I paid MSRP for $92K and change before tax. I have never owned a car that received so many compliments. Of course being a Porsche will get you that but my main compliment is for its Miami Blue color with 21” Spyder wheels. Performance wise my Macan leaves no wants. That engine mated with the PDK transmission and the suspension with PASM makes it more of a sports car than a compact SUV. The Sport Chrono package in Sport Plus turns it into a beast. A GTS spec’d out the same as my S would have only cost me $6K more (with a couple of free options) but it would have only given me .3 sec faster to 60 mph and I was told would have had a rougher ride. Just for the GTS badge in the back. The S is the sweet spot in this model line. My negatives are few. The standard speedometer and tach dials (dark gray) have a small hood over them that casts a shadow making the dials darker to read than they should be. At night with them lit it’s no problem but in daytime it lacks in my opinion. I wish I had paid for lighter colored dials. Sometimes with the key fob in my pocket the engine will not start and a warning display sign states that the car is not reading the fob. When I move the fob around inside my pants pocket the car will eventually start. Sometimes I have to move the fob 2-3 times. The 360 degree camera is a very nice feature but the back up camera view is not a direct view and a little curvy. I don’t like that. It takes some getting used to. If you pay extra for the Porsche crest on the headrests (like I did) they don’t show very well on dark upholstery. The (haptic) buttons I really dislike like everyone else does. You have to take your eyes off of the road to activate them. I wish they would have left the real buttons from the 2021 and before models.

Macan T
Thanks to Edmunds, I was able to get the car at a fair price. Given that the dealers are marking up every car on their lot, Edmunds tools helped us get the Macan T instead of the base. Macan T is just an awesome upgrade compared to the base and not too pricey as S or GTS. It feels like a perfect match between price and performance. The features on this Porsche is what you would expect from a Porsche plus more. I am very happy with this car, before this I drove a BMW 5 series and a Z. I clearly see what I get for the extra $. If you are thinking about a macan, I would recommend it!

Love my 2023 Macan T
After 6 happy years with an Audi Q5 we decided to make a change. Researched the new Genesis GV70, the BMW X3, Land Rover models, etc, and decided on a new Porsche Macan T in exterior Chalk with Bordeaux red leather interior. Its a stunning combination and we are absolutely in love with our new car. And it is in a relatively affordable package. This SUV is the perfect combination - my wife enjoys the size, maneuverability, style and looks for a daily driver, and I love the touches true to classic Porsche design and history that I can enjoy on a date night or a road or freeway swing with my adult son or friends. The acceleration through the PDK transmission gears and the different Sport Chrono modes and Sports Response button, as well as the feel of the steering are more than enough to create that dream sports car feel for me behind the wheel. It came optioned with the 18 way adjustable sport bolstered seats and they are amazingly comfortable. The ebony gloss haptic touch surfaces in the center console are awesome. The interior is not over the top fancy but is classic and well built in every way. It is a thrill to drive every time I get behind the wheel.

Unpretentious Grandeur
Just bought a new Macan S after driving a 911 for the past ten years. While the Macan may well have a generic look, it is still a Porsche at its core... fast, tight, just the right size, and oh so fun to drive. I needed a back seat. The Macan was the answer to having it all... even though I am keeping my 911.

Not all I had hoped for
The first week of ownership now. I’ll submit another review in a few months once I’ve had some significant experience. I was lucky to find one that was sensibly speced out and not loaded with frivolous (and expensive) options The delivery experience was great, shout out Suncoast Porsche. But when I decided to get to know it better, I went to the owners manual. Imagine my surprise when virtually every topic I wanted to explore told me to go to the digital manual. Thank heavens for YouTube. It covered all I needed. But c’mon man you can afford a decent manual. Most of my concern was with the PCM system. Compared to my 22 BMW it’s way behind and difficult to use. For this price one should expect a far easier and robust system. As to driving, it’s a Porsche, enough said. I did own a Macan Turbo + and this is not that fast but I’m ok with that. Aside from the PCM I’m pleased with having found a sensibility equipped true drivers car.

Macan GTS is NOT an SUV
An SUV has no right being as much fun to drive as the Macan GTS. Do not think of this as an SUV. It is sports car wearing a box on its head!

2024 Macan S The 'S' Stands for Sweet
My progression to a Porsche was eight years in the making. In 2021 I traded a '15 Infiniti Q60 drop top for a '21 Audi Q3 S-Line. Engineering, power, and features were all there, but missing something. In '23, I traded the Audi for a new Porsche Macan base model. What a step up it was. But still missing that 'something'. Fearing the introduction of the electric Macan would mean one of the three ICE models was going to become extinct, I traded again early in '24 for an 'S" model. Nothing more to say other than it is missing nothing. Before the first 500 miles had been clocked, if gentle on the little pedal on the right, I was achieving 23 - 25 MPG which can be attributed to aerodynamics, horse power, and torque allowing the engine to stay in the higher gears. However, let the ponies out of the corral and you will not be disappointed. The turbo four in the base model just had to work a little harder. As for fit, finish, and comfort, I've not had anything that compares. The 21" wheels and tire combination, along with the 3-way shock absorber settings, give a ride that compliments the 375 HP in whatever driving mood you're in. The exhaust note is nothing but pure luscious music to my ears. Not a single doubt or regret in my view - buy an 'S' if you can find one.

Wife hates it
Yeah, my wife hates my new Porsche Macan S. To bad for her because I LOVE IT! I have owned many different makes and models but this Porsche Macan S is heads and shoulders above any of them. I love to start it up and hear the exhaust growl! It gets even better to go through the gears. The exhaust crackles and pops as the PDK goes through the gears. I might be old but driving this little beast gives this old man lots of driving fun and excitement! It handles like it's is set on a rail. It's been over a year now and I still mash the gas accelerating off the line, ok, stop light. We live in a small town (population around 35,000) where there are not many Porsche cars. The reason my wife hates it is due to all the attention my Macan gets. I get people ask me about it all the time. Lolol I have owned Corvettes, MB, Acura, Lexus and others but nothing compares to my Macan S. If you used to enjoy driving but have lost interest or it has become boring, I suggest to buy one of these. You will enjoy driving all over again! Just Do It! You will not regret it!

Top Trim Audi Q5
Regrettably got the base model and after 1 month and roughly 1,000 miles, I'm highly disappointed. Traded a 2023 BMW X1 for this and although it's better in some ways, it falls short on expectations of what a Porsche should be. Got the base engine with very light options (premium package and tow hitch) which ended up at nearly $70k after destination. Starting off with the pros for this car: High quality cabin with excellent materials and build quality Quiet and comfortable ride on both highways and broken pavement Seats are very comfortable with lots of ways to adjust and decent bolstering Responsive handling and excellent steering feel Excellent braking ability and brake pedal feel Porsche badge (yes it matters) Now for the long list of cons: Gutless engine, not something you expect from Porsche. Mind that this is the same engine on the current VW Golf GTI and Audi Q5. While it works for those cars, it just isn't enough to be in a Porsche. Great for city driving, but will need some planning for certain highway maneuvers. The programing for the transmission is also highly questionable. Power for this engine comes in at 2.5k RPM and really shines above 3k RPM. However, the transmission likes to short shift (even in sport mode) and prefers to keep the car between 1.5k - 2.5k RPM. The result is a constant race to the highest gear unless you just floor it in which then it will give a about half a second delay before proceeding to downshift. Horrible, just plain horrible MPG. If driving normally I got 16 city / 23 highway. But if driven like a Porsche, I got 14 city / 20 highway. Backup camera is a joke. The quality is just slightly better than a 7 year old Honda CR-V. Picture quality is very grainy and is completely useless even in light rain. Interior storage is nonexistent. Center console can store 2, maybe 3 kids juice boxes. Door pockets can't fit a big water bottle (not even felt lined). No sunglasses holder or coin tray. Car is showing it's age. The current gas Macan is based on the previous generation Audi Q5 from 2009-2017. Porsche did a good job massaging the old Audi, but the competition has long since caught up. This is still largely the same car that was launched in 2015, 10 years ago. Top down 360 surround view camera isn't standard even at $70k whereas it can be had in it's German competition for around $55k. Overall, this is an excellent luxury car, it's just not a very good Porsche. Please do yourself a favor and avoid the base engine. The base model is essentially an Audi Q5 - Porsche trim, but with a $10k additional upcharge for the just badge (not counting the upgraded mechanics and interior). Would recommend getting a used S for the same price. I am planning to trade this in for a CPO Macan EV in 3 years once the values for those plummet.

Love how owners disagree with experts
The experts thought they were rating an SUV but the owners knew that they were buying a Porsche. It's its own class. UPDATE: After driving other makes for decades, this was my choice for retirement. It eschews the tech junk for real automobile experience. And I'm not using it as a truck to haul stuff. It easily fits the bags for a 4 person weekend trip and still behaves like a Porsche. If you can afford check one out.

MacanCan! Macan S
There is just something about that Porsche purr…This thoroughbred can run! The Macan lives up to the Porsche brand. Went old school & ordered the walnut trim in the interior (no charge). One of nice things about Porsches is you can order to your specific wants. I am definitely sold on the brand, & will be a repeat buyer…great experience w/no regrets. Update: Feb 2025 & continue to be impressed with this automobile. Absolutely no problems. Porsche’s commitment to automobile excellence has sold me on the brand!

Really enjoying my new 2024 Macan 4 EV!
I am a relatively long-term Porsche owner - just over 10 years - and have owned two Caymans and three 911s. I really do enjoy the Porsche ownership experience and the Porsche community, as well as enjoying the driving experience. I've been wanting to transition to a hybrid or EV for a few years, and nearly purchased a Taycan, however I thought I'd just try a drive in a new Macan EV. Loved it from the first test drive! Great build quality, beautiful design inside and out, beautiful interior fittings - can't say enough about it. It truly is a Porsche first, and an EV second - my sales advisor mentioned that there really isn't a learning curve transitioning to the new Macan EV (or likely the Taycan). The Macan handles great, it's quiet, well-built - can't say enough about it!

First 5K miles review of Macan 4S
This car is about driving dynamics. Although the price is hard to justify, and it lacks the sophistication of Tesla software, the car is head and shoulders above any other EV once you get behind the wheel and start driving it. It has been engineered to drive and handle like a Porsche. Meaning that there is no one pedal driving, and all the controls are where they should be, and not buried under sub-menus in a huge central screen. The interior is all Porsche, and not Chevy-like, as in all other SUVs. The build quality is high, and the interior and exterior design is way above any other EV. No maintenance issues so far, and dealer delivery and set up were exemplary (Huntington Porsche). So if you can afford it, this is a great car.

Hell yes - GTS
I tested a variety of other brands and it really isn’t even close. This GTS is amazing it gets driven 3 times a week. I would recommend to anyone. This vehicle makes driving fun again. This is the only reason to buy it. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Rear tires will need replaced at 25K miles, because they are a different size from the front.

Awesome car
Macan T
Our 2023 Macan T performs well. The engine is a delight and handling is excellent. However, it developed an annoying issue with the RPM and speedometer needle rattling/vibrating when entering, opening the door and starting the car. Very strange indeed. The dealer could not duplicate the problem at first even after providing a video of the issue. But now, the frequency of the problem is becoming more frequent. So the car is going back to the dealer for evaluation. Other issues relate to pairing the PCM unit to the iPhone when using the My Porsche App. It has been an ongoing issue.

Macan T
The Macan T has some nice upgrades from the base Macan that makes driving it more enjoyable than out 2021 Macan Base. The only thing we do not like about the 2024 versus the 2021 is the haptic controls. Accidentally touching them turns things off and on plus the sun's glare off the shiny black glass can be dangerous.

My 2024 Macan
Drives and handles well, many button / switches which allow operating the controls without going through infotainment screen. Full leather interior is exceptional. Steering wheel and seats heat up quickly in the cold weather, and the ventilated seats are great in summer. One glaring fault, it does not have Rear Cross Traffic Alert for safety when backing up the car.
You get what you pay for
Great riding road tripping SUV that's zippier on mountain roads than its bigger brother. Air suspension makes a lot of difference, base isn't fast but certainly adequate.
