Great car
We have had this car for about a month. It is much faster than our '06 Boxster. The engine sounds great. We have an automatic, which makes it a bit of a gas hog, but it shifts quickly and rockets away from the line.
Fantastic Car!
In everyday driving the Cayman is civilized, comfortable, and easy to drive. When the traffic thins out and the road opens up, it takes on a whole different personality, gobbling up twists and turns with the engine roaring like a savage beast. After a month I still haven't really used the Bose sound system. The sound of the engine is even better music to my ears. Now that the break-in period is over, I can savor the sounds of the upper rpm range... sweeeet!
Just Picked One Up...
I just got a new 2007 Cayman S model. I am very happy with it overall. It is great looking, well built, and has a nice interior. It's also very quick. It drives like a sports car, meaning a firm, but not harsh ride. I went with the 19" wheels. Some options should be standard, but that's Porsche. Its gas mileage stinks, but that's to be expected. This car has great German engineering all around, even in the smallest details.
I wouldn't own any other Porsche. CAYMAN S
I bought my Cayman S on New Year's Eve as those 2008s were filling the lot. I got an amazing price break I sold my last Z-3 M-series to Porsche on New Year's Eve where I got an amazing price for the car of my dreams.n The Cayman S. I was annoyed that BMW made the Z-4 for the (true) reason of size. People over a certain girth had problems getting comfortable....so they made the interior bigger for the standard American body type, That ended my BMW Z-3 great love when they changed the model to the Z-4. I had 3 Z-3s from 97-07. Then came my Cayman-S. My Cayman still turns heads and I still get the 'nice new car..congratulations' ..after 14 years. The car is a coupe and the lines of the design are stunning and thus so far, the best of all the designed models since 2009, It is still relatively unknown to 'non-Porsche people, and as it looks...almost customized. It is a wonder that Porsche still has not realized that Cayman should be in the 911 group. I'd take this over a 911 any day. I have had one accident that was significantly major over the years since,2008. I live 40 miles from Manhattan but it is very removed with open space and forests. I had a deer jump out in front of the car as I was driving 70 mpg enjoying the precision and hug of the road that never tires me. Okay Porscheophiles it is hard to drive this car slowly. , I drove into a herd/group of deer on the road and the car turned round and round and stopped by falling down a small ravine. The airbags h opened and I was very stunned. As I got out of the car since I felt okay, my first thought was to check the front end. It had become an accordion but...I had just one scratch on my nose after crashing at 70 MPH. Of course, I had a heart attack when I saw my car, not caring about anything else. It is my baby! Porsche was so amazed by my story that they offered to send my car to the Porsche factory and fix it so it would be as if nothing happened. That was swell as I am very 'loyal' to Porsche. In return, they had my written permission to use my story. Although I still am adjusting the power gadgets for the perfect sitting position, I have nothing else to say except this is hands down...the best decision I have ever made. Another plus. I am a performer in Manhattan and the purity of the BOSE in the small space of this car is joyful. When I drive up the exit from the highway accelerating from 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds and then stop on a dime...I realize again and again how the brakes are the best ever made. The purring of the engine is softer yet sounds like nothing else but a Porshe. The car is truly low maintenance. Since 08' ...I've only needed to replace my gear stick, tires, and the catalytic converter. That is amazing. One caveat. I would like to have Bluetooth and the new SiRIUS radio stations. Okay...I get to play my CDs. Although I've taken care of this car as it is my pride and joy, I have only a carport and it passes the winter uneventfully. As a guy who likes to feel the rush of being one with my car...this is the ultimate, perfect car, still, for me. (forgive typos..reading glasses are missing). It is now 2024 and mt CaymanS 2007 lasted from 07-24. When I was going to NH for weekends at my vacation house, I'd accelerate from 50 to......and my body would push me back. The car was still in perfect condition on the exterior and the interior was just worn here and there. Vermont has a speed limit of 75.The Police are very easy. I'b in the left lane, two car spots apart, about 6 cars and we were all driving 100-110, very safe. I was not even aware of the speed. I had finally found the area to tet the car and open it up. 15 years after obtained. Speeding up to (I can't say it...but major speed) and my baby hugged the road so that I never felt out of control. I was at 90 when I turned a corner and voila! A moose! Just maneuvered around it like a pro :). Sadly, my motor block finally had a permanent oil spill internally and that was that. I mourned. I must say though, I was 40 when I got 'Guard Red' and now in my mid-50s, the Cayman S 2022 that I bought (Pre-certified, 2000 miles, loaded) was the special metallic Silver which being older, feels right (I miss my 07-guards red). This car makes 250 HP and my 07 was 295. I did go from 6 cylinder to 4 but man. This car is even more powerful than my previous baby. When in 'Sport Mode' (07 did not have this), I am slowly finding my comfort zone as the acceleration and speed is ridiculous. Before I bought this car, I tested the 911 (entry), the iconic Porsche. I am convinced that the Cayman S 718 2022 and the GTS are far superior. My S has much better handling on the road. My old 07 was sold to a pro sports-car driver. He races the car!. Alors. In 2041 (If Putin doesn't blow up the world), I will be that old man at 70 buying his new and last Cayman. The interior is terrific. Much improved audio choices, seats 2 inches wider and more driving positions. They still have those tacky cup holders :) THe side panel is completely changed. I love the outside form but my older Cayman S had thinner lines and curved in on the side with more of a uber sports car look in the back. The car is a bit more noisy but it is less so when out of Sports Mode. Starting from gear 1 is a more smooth ride and the same as it is sliding into 2. 2 can elevate in speed at least 20 miles more than the 07. I love this new Cayman S. I'll always miss the 07. :)

It just felt right
Ah, what a car. I tested several others - STi, 'Vette, 335i, 370Z. This is the only one that felt just right. Came from a '06 Miata so I didn't want a large car. This had the power, sound, handling, looks...everything. It's just right for me. Sometimes I just wish it had a backseat so I could share the experience w/ more than 1 other person at a time. I have the Carmon Red and it's a beauty but I'm actually surprised at the smiles I get. She definitely holds her own at track days as well of course. Yes, the cup holders seem rather delicate and not well placed - that's why I don't use them. The xenon headlights are very good and I'm happy w/ the stereo. Certified warranty is excellent too!
