400,000 Mile Bonneville
I purchased this 1992 Bonneville from my brother-in-law,who purchased it new. My wife still drives this car every day to and from work. It now has 407,000 miles on it. I had the transmission rebuilt at 375,000 miles. Never been inside the engine. Has had 3 radiators, 4 A/C compressors, 4 alternators, and other minor things. Still runs great, plenty of power, still handles well. My wife says that she intends to get at least 500,000 miles out of it before she gets herself another car. This has been a very good car for us. Thanks, Pontiac.
my first car
i have had my bonneville since my 16th birthday and it is an extremely reliable vehicle. built like a mini tank. i have put a rebuilt tranny, radiator, brand new ac compressor and accum, all new brakes and tires. but the engine wont give out. it has 180k and still going strong. I love this car and would definitely buy another. When the engine does give out i plan to rebuilt the car from head to toe and use it as a classic show car by 2020.
The Pontiac Bonneville SSEi Supercharged
I've owned a 1992 Bonneville SEEi Supercharged for about 8 years now. I recieved the vehicle with only 32000km on it. It is now running just as strong at 245000km. Over-all the car has been trouble free. I have every option in my Bonneville except for the power moonroof and CD player. It is painted in Dark Forest Green with tan leather heated seats. This car has been used in almost every situation possible; It at one time or another was used as a family car, sport car, trailoring vehicle and used in my wedding. This is one of the best investment I have ever made for an automobile and encourage anyone to purchase one.
great
i bought my car a lil while ago and it needed a little work. so far i have replaced the fuel pump, ignition moduel, coils, cranksensor, brake lines, and rear wheel bearings last owner didnt take car of this car at all but now that ive given a little tlc shes running beutifully and all in all shes a great car i recomend them for anyone.
good car for the money
my bonneville is very relible and fun to drive. my wife drives it to work 35 miles a day. great gas mileage 26.9 mpg.some problems with the abs system but overall good car for the money.
Stil have her
I bought the car for my wife in 1992, she drove everyday to work and we took it on every vacation. In 2000 she got a new car and I took over the Pontiac. I drove until 2005, when it was passed to my daughter at age 16, my daughter drove it for two years, until she got a new car, it was then passed onto my 16 year old son. The car is still going strong and still looks good, still drives and handles like a dream.
A great car!
I bought my Bonneville in 1997 with 70,000 miles. It now has 254,000 miles and it still has the original engine and transmission. Neither has been overhauled. It uses no oil and consistently gets 28 miles to the gallon. It has probably been the best car I have ever owned. It is safe, comfortable, durable, and quite economical to own and operate. I will probably keep it until it stops running and then replace it with another GM automobile with the 3.8 liter engine. This engine is powerful, smooth, and stingy with gas.
Best car i have owned
This car is great. Just bought it with 88,000 miles on it. Its the best car I have owned, the seats are comfortable enough for a cross country drive, the fuel economy is great, it rides very smooth. I would reccomend this car to anyone and everyone!
Bonneville SSE
Excellent car! It has been reliable and safe for nearly 3 years and endured lots of hard driving.
Bonne's beat all!!
I bought my 92 bonneville in 1997 when it was 5 years old and had 80,000. I drove it until 2006 when I turned it over to my teenage daughter. As someone else said, the air conditioning hasn't work since I got it and too expensive to fix, not a big deal for me. Other then that this has been a great car, of course things break, but never anything big, mostly just regular things like brakes, starter, and alternator. The car is old so you have to expect to replace some things. Before this car I had a 1985 Bonne that had over 300,000 miles on it and still ran like a dream. Unfortunately the body couldn't keep up and rusted so bad I had to put it out to pasture. I now have a 2003 bonne!
176,000 miles on bonneville
I own a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville se with 176,000 miles on the car and runs like a new car still and it it great on gas and I am getting 18 mpg around town and on the highway I am getting 27 to 29 mpg. I have own a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville se with 191,500. I sold the car because I need some money. And after that I got the 1992 Bonneville se I have now. It is a good family car for someone who want a safe, good on gas, durable. I would say go out and buy one you will be very happy with it and the room and the big truck space you have to use.
my baby bonneville
I Got my car in Sept/2007 and i got it with 174,050 miles on it and it has 190,300 on it right now and it running like a dream. The car is very roomy for it size and make a really good family car. It has child safely lock in the back doors and windows so the kids can not open the doors from the inside. It get good gas mileage and and can fit 5-6 people including the driver.
4 Dr Trans Am!!
I have owned Trans Ams all my dring life. This car is great, and drives almost as well as my Trans Ams. Better than the older ones for Sure. We drive it to the LA basketball games, 100 miles on way. Always gets us there safe and fast. And i mean FAST. Going 90 to 100 mph on some trips is nothing to this car
Very solid car
I bought this car in 1996. Never had any major problems with it.Over the years I had to chage the altenator, starter, and master brake cylinder, thats it. Car has great power and decent preformance. The only thing i dont like about my car is that it has the fuel economy of a Ferrari.
Great car!
This has been a very reliable car. It is now 11 years old, and I have had it for 7. For the most part, it has only required general maintenance. Only in the last few months has it required some investment. Also, I was rear- ended in it by a delivery truck, and the trunk absorbed the brunt of the impact. After the body work was completed, she was as good as new!
1992 Bonneville SSEi Review
Vehicle is a pleasure to drive in all types of weather. It has good fuel economy and has proven to be very reliable.
energizer rabbit
Great long lasting car! I have 252,000 miles on her and she still rides great and gets 400 miles to a full tank of gas. No leaks or anything major. Alternator replaced, plug wires need replaced regularly. I love this car and the 3800 engine.
I used to own a sundance.
I used to own a sundance that had no luxury, to my ssei which is fully loaded. Now I actually have speed, and this car is very reliable. It has enough room to be able to fit 5 people comfortably, and I really enjoy the automatic enviroment button. So instead of having to mess with all those buttons, I just have to hit one. Groovy. Two thumbs up, and all the stars in the sky!
GO BONNIE
Bought car in Nov of '96.This has been a great car.Style, performance, and reliabilty are all great.130000 miles and runs as good as when we bought it at 40000 miles. No big problems, besides normal maintenance items.I did have to replace the pressure valve modulator for the ABS,but otherwise trouble free! We are having a hard time looking at mini-vans because this car has treated us so well.
My new gift!
I have had my 92 Bonneville for just over a month now, and I absolutely love it! I have never been in a position to purchase a brand new vehicle, but this is as close to mint as they come. I purchased this car for 1200, and it was owned by an expert mechanic of all phases, and he cares for all his cars like they were his children. It was his wife's vehicle, and he gave me the most best deal that anyone could ask for. Engine and trans are smooth as silk, and everyone refers to it as "the sexy beast". Interior and exterior are almost showroom(aside from a few nicks and stains) and the only thing that does not work is the ac. It is in the electrical. Intend to keep it for as long as I can
92 SE
I have just about replaced everything you would expect considering the high milage and age, but I love this car. However, I have always had the sound of air rushing in drivers side, evenb though there is no draft that I can detect. Road noise has also gotten almost unbearable. I have been driving on a bad wheel cylinder for about 2 years however, I cant believe it hasn't totally gone on me, its a tank.
Bi Al's 92 Bonneville SE
Im 51 & have owned a few cars in my day. This is one of the best that stand out from the pack. Does not drip, smoke, or burn (or even use)oil. Starts so fast and positively that I have had only 1 other car that was as good, a Ford Torino 351 Cleveland. Fast enough to be respectable and very smooth and quiet. Interior is superior design and comfortable. Lighting package and orange color choice is very informative and designed to please with subtle things like lighted key locks, all gages, fog lites, etc. Radio in Steering wheel is awesome and safer, cruise is simple stalk & pushbutton, all that you really need. A great car highly recommended! Big Al.
Solid Car
An overall solid car. owned for 2 years A few repairs including a new alternator, water pump, new brakes. The usuall older car fixes. Owning the base model with a few upgrades including tachometer, aluminum wheels, and few other guages to list them all is not that bad.(Less stuff to wear out)This car has a bad problem with rust especailly the rear wheel wells and rocker panels. successfully drivin through about 10 Buffalo winters where they dump more salt on the road than there is snow. Comfortable seats Good for first car. Because I Cant afford an LS1 Trans Am
92 Bonniville
Bought this car in 1995, with approximately 26,000 miles. Has been very reliable car, with little exceptional maintenance required. Had transmission (4 spd O/D automic) rebuilt at approximately 146,000 miles, and have just replaced water pump and timing chain at 150,000 miles. Car continues to drive well, and looks good. Can't complain for an 11-year old car. I plan to buy another Bonneville a little farther down the road.
1992 pontiac bonneville ssei
lot of expensive repairs!!! but a very nice car so its worth every cent!!! A very solid drive train.
My twelve year young beauty
I bought the car new in 92, drove it then passed to my first child when he got his license. He gave it back later and then I drove it again. I then gave it to my teenage daughter to drive and enjoy. Now it is time to sell it to another lucky owner and I hate to let it go. My wife said hang on to it but alas 125000 I think it is time to move one. This has been one of my all time favorite cars. I liked the way it handled (with the touring package), the wayt she looked (lots of compliments) and most of all her dependability and safety.
Great car
I inherited this car from a little old man 3 years ago with 40000 miles on it. While I have replaced standard items like the alternator, water pump brakes etc, this family car has performed well for around town commutes and 300-500 mile road trips. It has a sporty feel and can climb the mountains in Western PA with the best of them. It's great in snow also. Looks are classic and I have no problem driving it as far as it takes me.
Bonneville great
It's great I'm buying another Pontiac. I was never disappointed.
Still Going Strong
The moment I sat in this car on January 31, 1992 I knew it was special! I bought it that day. It has been a pleasure owning this car. It's the most reliable car I've ever had & it has nearly 227,000 miles on it. Even though it's almost 13 years old, the body style is still modern and looks good. In fact, I like the way it looks better than most newer cars and I'm deciding now whether to get a newer Bonneville or put a little money into this one and drive it till it won't go any further! I would recommend this car to anyone.
92' Bonneville, the perfect commuter car
I bought my 92' SE in November of 2003 for 2,300 from the estate of a relative of my Dad's boss. Only 65,000 miles on the odometer and lots of options. This car has proved to be a great car for this full time student/part time cashier. Great gas mileage and reliablitiy for the 200+ miles a week I drive. The handling over icy roads is superb! I drove 10 miles over ice in blizzard 2 weeks ago without a problem! It was the first time I'd ever driven in any accumulation of snow. It has great take off. Just a touch of the gas and you're gone! Its not a sports car but the insurance is cheap and it serves its purpose! Definitely a car I plan on driving for at least the next five years.

92 Bonny SE won't die out
Bought used with 100k, right away the tranny 'slipped', mechanic said tranny needed replacement? Got a full TUNEUP (plugs, wires, etc) instead! NO MORE TRANNY SLIP! Saved $3000! It now has 218000 with original tranny, SHOCKS, and engine; no oil loss, great power. No sign of dieing from this old goat.
Bonnes for Life
I purchased my Bonneville or Bonne as I call her, from a friend of the family. I have been driving this car for 4 years and even though it has over 200,000 miles on it, it's still going strong. I love my Bonneville! I've had zero problems with it and boy does it have power for an old car that's been around the block a few times. Whenever my friends and I road trip they beg me to take my car because it is soooooooo comfortable. They don't make them like they used to. They're not attractive cars, but once you've had one, you'll absolutely be in love. My friend once said it was like a couch on wheels. It is extremely spacious!! I love my Bonneville!!!!
Worst Car Ever
This is the worst car that I have ever owned. Had problems with it from week one. Had to put three new alternators on it, 2 wheel bearings, 1 water pump, 1 computer, and 1 transaxle. When the transmission finally went, that was it. I am glad that I have finally gotten rid of that lemon. Not only that, the plastic interior fell apart quickly too. It is not a kid friendly car. The only good thing about it was the engine and how it handled on the snow.
A Remarkable Car
I purchased my 1992 Bonneville in !996 and it had 70,000 miles. It now has passed 238,000. This has been the most reliable car that I have ever owned. Yes, there have been the expected repairs and regular maintenance. But the engine and transaxle are still fine and it uses no oil and leaks no transaxle fluid. This car has plenty of comfort and power and great economy... 29 miles to the gallon. Considering the safety, reliability, and economy of this automobile, I will continue to drive it and replace the engine and trans whenever that occurs. It is stylish, safe, and the savings on insurance and registration make whatever repairs are required minimal.
no title
Very well rouded car, lotta get up and go. Handles nice and has good gas mileage, it has nearly 192,000miles on it and still runs like a tank.
Tough 6 cylinder with 3.8L engine
I've owned this car for 9 years. The engine is awesome and still going strong at 240,000 miles with minor oil usage. When they made this engine, they made it to last. Interior items broke along the way. A/C died only after 2 years use. Too expensive to fix. Just a little rust starting on the passenger side rear wheel well. You see many of these cars on the road still today (white, like mine!).
I Miss My Car
I think it was funny reading a lot of the comments because I was thinking yup that sounded like my car like when you step on that gas it felt like you could almost out drive anyone even thou it was an older car. If you wanted to know if it's reliability I have to say its great I was a new driver I'm 19 so it was my first car it did awesome in the snow for my first time driving in it. Also I just got into a car accident with this car because a drunk driver ran through a red light so we hit head on to her and I'm thankful for this car because if I had a smaller car I might not be here right now it was a tank and I'm gonna miss it. So if you're looking to buy one it's amazing.
11 Years of Good Use
My 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SE just turned 11 years old a few weeks ago - still going very strong. Other than one alternator, it's been pretty much trouble-free. Turned out to be an excellent purchase. Bucket seats have held up amazing well and are still very comfortable. Paint faded very noticably and quickly on the body- molded exterior mirrors.
My Bonny Bonneville
Great car! Fabulous 3.8/4spd automatic. Regretfully moving on at 190k after years of cheap commuting. Pulled the ABS fuse due to weird behavior and had several annoying coolant leaks. But the rest was routine accessory stuff (alternator, starter, water pump etc). Best piece of Detroit heavy metal I've seen.
Best car yet
I have only owned this car for a year but have become a Bonniville lifer. I have only had one problem with this car, that being the shift button stuck in and wouldn't allow the key to be turned fully off- cost $50. It is a joy to drive. I will need to buy a new one in about 3 years as my son and daughter have laid claim to this one when they get a license (we have 3 other vehicles, but they want this one). It's a great car.
My beautiful bonneville
I bought this for $1000.00 and has been the best 3.8 liter i have owned, this is now my 4th 3.8 liter in the 25 years i have been driving.. This car has been great and i hope to find another one to buy, love this car .... I have now 245000 miles and still drive from jackson michigan to gainesville florida every other month....And i wont think twice about doing it...
bonneville
My car is a 1992, great car. Can out drive the best of them. Inside is falling apart though.
WorstcarEVER
Everything major that could go wrong with this car did: transmission ($1000), a/c ($1500), radio ($300), master brake cylinder ($400), interior electrical ($450), front end (twice @ $1000 per), alternator (twice @ $500 per plus multiple tows). Ride was typically American mushy and could never get the seat totally properly adjusted. Power fair, handling like jello.
sse is 4 me
208000 miles and no major problems. Replaced tires, brakes, struts and alternator, all maintenence items. I change oil about 5000 miles and still tow a pop-up camper once in a while. It is driven at least 60 miles daily and I would trust it to leave today on A 1000 mile trip with-out worry. My last car was a 1987 Bonnivile which I sold for $550 with 217000 miles on it. I plan on driving my 92 for at least one more year, GREAT CAR!
Graet car
160000 mile sand car has been quite reliable..only minor maintenance items repaired, tran and engine are solid.that first review should find a honest mechanic(if you can )he is paying 5 times what you should!!!
Love it!!
This was my first car. I absolutley loved it. The pick-up in my car was infamous around my area. I really enjoyed the way the car handled. After nine or 10 years, it began to show its age, but it was still able to keep up.
