93 sundance 2.2 2 door hatchback

Being a 17 year old, I was looking for a car that would get me from home work and school, nothing fancy, so I saw this little blue beast on the side of the road. I picked it up for a couple hundred bucks and expected to have a little beater that would last a month or two. I later found out that its a pretty solid car, its pretty quick for a 2.2 and its pretty dent resistant. I was amazed at this little car and I wish I would have bought one sooner. Driving it as much as I did I learned it can park in any spot and can keep up with my friends' eclipse and grand prix.

I have owned many, many cars and trucks over the years, but this one takes the trophey! This lil car has served greatly and now I am givining it to my Son in law to use because his car has died and he needs a good dependable car to get to work and back. I was the second owner of the car and for paying $5000 for it back in 1998 was alot to me, but as I look back now, well worth every penny. I never had a problem with it! it had great power and super gas milage (35 mpg) with that 5 speed... It handled great! Kept it tuned, changed the oil, and gave her a bath, and she treated me well! Even in the Sub-Zero temps in Wisconsin, Started every time. Now I passed her on, and she continues........

Plymouth? More like Cadillac of Cars

I bought this car to get me too and from work with 112 000km on it. It skips into 2nd gear with big whine on the tranny. It dosent always shift into 4th gear if I can get it up to 80km/h that is. It has always gotten me to work on time thou. Only had to replace one radiator and there does seem to be an alignment problem causing odd tire wear on the front wheels. Currently still driving it with 170000Km+ on her.

Great First Car

I got this car in 2001, for my 17th birthday. It had 80,000 miles on it and ran me wonderfully for the next ten and a half years. I kept up with the maintenance and fluids and all that, which may have contributed to its lasting so long. It did have an almost bulimic hunger for motor oil, it went through it very quickly. Finally sold it in January of 2012, it had started demanding larger repairs and I decided to just upgrade cars. Good car, though. I always felt safe driving it, the pick up was surprisingly good, it was decent in the snow and it never once left me stranded.

Very reliable car that just won't quit!!

Like the Energizer Bunny, this car just will not stop. I have had to rarely put mine in the shop for surprise repairs. The only major component that has been replaced is the compressor; but what do you expect living in Houston and those awfully hot summers. The gas mileage gets better as the car gets older. One trip from Texarkana to Houston I had the car fully loaded down, with the tail dragging I only used half a tank a gas. Mind you I was doing roughly 80 mph the entire time. This car is like a good wine, it gets better with age. I'll never get rid of mine.

My brother in law passed this car on to me after the dealership only offered him a couple hundred for it. Boy, he's now missing out! He went and bought a new Ford focus. I think I got the better deal. This car now has 160K on it and does noit look to stop. I have had to do repairs such as radiator and general maintenance but I did not expect to have this car long and I'm pleasantly surprised!

I bought this car to help a friend that was moving, never meaning to keep it. That was at 140,000 miles. Now at 199,640 I'm still amazed that she won't die! Oil changes, plugs and belts, plus an alt., a battery and a new timing belt--in 6 years. Cold starts at 20 below 0 (she's an Alaska car). Great beater, starter car, whatever--and still gets 27 mpg!

This car takes you where you want to go. When I bought it (1993 @ 65K miles) I have always feared that this car would break down on long drives, but this car just goes on and on. I had to replace the water pump, changed the belts and pretty basic maintenance. It has pretty basic equipment, the stereo system is OK. I love this car.

I bought this car in 1996 and it's still running strong! I am very surprised at how dependable it's been. The A/C doesn't work (needs a new compressor) but besides that I've only had the usual maintenance costs. The car has great pickup too, more than my 1998 Saturn. This is a great go to work car.

I bought this car about a year ago for $1500 and have been pleasantly surprised with it's economy and reliability. I had to replace the battery and front brakes along with oil changes and spark plugs, but have been happy with it's performance overall. It has a lot of nice features for a car it's size and is very comfortable and fun to drive. It runs like a top on the highway and is very easy to drive in th city.

I bought it new when I was 16. The only problem I had was the transmission- during the end of the warranty (Chrysler replaced it for free) and the bearings. My car was stolen in 2003 and gave the occupants quite a ride as they led a high speed car chase around philly. It also held up well when they crashed it through a fence and playground. But being a '93, it was deamed "totaled". I miss it! :-(

The Plymouth Sundance/Duster and Dodge Shadow are great cars. They cost much less than other cars in their class, and they have an available 3.0L V6. This engine packs a wallop. It is a very good, reliable engine. I have had no major problems with my Duster since I bought it. Also, I have not driven a car in this class that is more comfortable.

I have enjoyed this vehicle above any auto that I have ever owned. It has an attractive yet understated look that makes it an attractive car to be seen driving around town. It is easy to handle in tight situations such as one might find on a long cross country trip as I do each year.

My wife and I bought a new 93 Sundance a few months before we were married. We needed new car, with air and automatic for her, but we also needed every $ we had for a down payment on our first house. The Shadow/Sundance felt more substantial than a Cavalier or Tempo. We sold it 11 years later with 155,000 miles. The 2.2 engine never let us down. The air conditioning lasted about 9-10 years, but by then the car was too old to get it repaired, and there was a little bit of rust and a bit of peeled paint. For what we paid for it, it was all we could have asked for, and worth every $. Our subsequent cars were larger and more expensive, but not as good a value dollar for dollar.

Great Little Car!

Bought this little car for cheap, no car payment transportation, only had minor problems that were age appropriate. I've bought a battery, tires, and had the radiator flushed professionally. Its a great little car, and exceeded my expectations. Car gets 27-30 mpg, has an attractive body style and has been very reliable. Its cheap to drive, to insure and the tax/lic. when due are extremely reasonable. I've had the car 2.5 years, now has 120,000 miles, still performing above my expectations!

Lot Of Fun Without Breaking The Bank

Got this car at around 33k miles, now it's at 109k. No way I'd trade it in if I got a new car, I wouldn't get what it's worth & it's fun to drive. Aside from the whirring transmision about all Dodge's from the mid-90s have there's been nothing odd abou tit, maintenance has all been what one would expect for a 10 year old vehicle (minor brake work, new suspension, replaced tires, etc.). My only regret is that Dodge went hybrid with Mitsubishi so there's no performance upgrades from either company, the V-6 one I've got with Mopar/specialized aftermarket upgrades like the Neon gets now would've torn up some pavement.

Fun Car to Drive and Lots of Repairs

I bought this car with 8,000 miles on it back in 1995. Had it until fall 2003 when the head gasket failed and the head got cracked. Had 120,000 miles on it at the time. Not worth the 700-1000 to fix it. Replaced the automatic transmission (a common complaint witht the 94 Duster) at 30,000 miles, replaced the rack and pinion system at 40,000 miles, air conditioner failed at around 70,000 miles. Despite all the repairs it was always a fun little car to drive, great cornering, and great power with the V-6.

My Plymouth Rocks!

I bought my 2.2 liter 4-door hatchback from a rental car agency in 1995 with 35k on the odometer. Plain Jane and reliable as the day is long. I now have 162K miles on it with no major mechanical problems. It refuses to quit. Paint is peeling and hubcap fell off when I got new tires, but mechanically this thing always starts and always gets me to my destination. I'm 6'4" 220 lbs and I fit very comfortably in it, which is one reason I bought it. I love it and I hope to get at least 200K miles out of it. Handles great in the snow and gets about 26 mpg on the highway, not bad for an old beast.

I've had the car for 4 years with no major mechanical problems. My father and my brother have also owned one. My fathers lasted for 240,000 miles until the body rusted out. It's not the best looking car, but you'll never have to put a dime into fixing it. Also you can beat the car up pretty good with no mechanical problems.

It probably was a good vehicle at the time. I have owned numerous Plymouth vehicles before and none ran this badly. The head was cracked in 4 places then the catalyc converter went kapoot. Maybe it was where I bought it from. Although it started everyday this winter.

I HATE THIS CAR. It was the first car I ever owned (which I regret). My parents got it used in 2004 with 115,000 miles, and I have had nothing but trouble with it. The air conditioner doesn't work (a sin in super humid southern Illinois), the back left speaker is blown, the driver's side window doesn't roll down, the paint is literally peeling off, I have a rust hole clear through the front of the hood, and the passenger side door doesn't open from the inside unless you hit against it REALLY HARD -- my brother bruised his shoulder. It is not reliable AT ALL. I wish I could tell you how many times I've been stranded on the side of the road, but I don't remember anymore.

I bought this car with 15,000 miles from the Avis rental. It has been SO reliable. Too bad they are no longer made. I have to purchase newer car since this has 126,000 miles with minimal repair over its lifetime. Time for an upgrade and I am sad to see it go. It was driven across country twice and from NE to Florida five times...

I bought my car from a private seller four months ago. Other than minor things like tune ups, it has been great. It is currently reading 265,000 miles on the odometer. As of now the only thing wrong with it is the oxygen sensor and the valve seals are bad (which is typical of this type of engine with high mileage) which causes white smoke to come from the exaust. Other than that it runs great!
