95 Neon
Great gas mileage. Getting 38 to 41 mpg highway and 29 to 30 here which is in some serious mountains -- traveling over two mountains twice a day with elevations from 900 to almost 4000 feet. Handles good and plenty of power for something that gets that good of gas mileage. Front seats roomy but small back legroom. Large trunk. Headlight lenses turned milky over the years and rubber gaskets around windows, etc. cracking. Easily shifts gears, paint not so great.
My Gem
I have enjoyed my Neon for 12 years (bought new). Gem, the car, has driven from Canada to Houston, Texas in summer heat. Never a rattle or shake on the highway! I found Gem to be very reliable.
Another Bad American Car
Way more problems than a car is worth. In 80k of miles I've had the A/C go out twice, blown a head gasket, completely remake the brakes twice and numerous other problems. You buy a cheap car you get a cheap car. I wish I had bought a Civic
NO
bought w/ 16k. lost AC @ 33k. head gasket @ 53k. numerous other problems....some expensive, some just not right! PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS CAR. (though i wrote a nasty note to Chrysler and they reimbursed me for 1/2 of out-of-pocket expenses.
The absolute worse car ever!!!
I have had nothing but problems with this car, most notably the head gasket, a/c and then the clutch all within six months. Then the brakes went, along with the heat system and the speedometer. I wish I would have went with the cavalier that was sitting right next to this car on the lot.
