My 3rd Acclaim
This is my 3rd Acclaim in about 10 years. I love these cars. They're reliable and excellent in the snow, not to mention inexpensive to operate and maintain.
Pretty good car
I've had a '92 Plymouth Acclaim for the last ten years. Had some problems with oil sensor/oil leaks early on; later, just getting it to pass emissions. It's held up pretty good despite a fair amount of neglect. 3.0L V6 has lots of power. Interior features are good -- mine came with the power doors, etc. Been having some overheating problems the last few months. I might be getting another car soon, but I have to say this one has performed well over it's life. Probably would've lasted longer in better condition if I'd been a better owner!
GoingAndGoing
We could always count on this car with very little time in the shop. Plenty of room throughout the car. Great for shopping or traveling and with 23mph city and 28 highway not too expensive to use. Yes the valves tap but they've been tapping for 60 thousand miles with no problem. My wife loves it and had it repainted last year. The original paint job was coming off but with the new color it's almost like new.
Dependable Car
Have owned this car for 12 years now, and with 80,000 miles and counting, it's still doing fine. Starts every single time, even in sub-zero temps. Even with the 4 cylinder engine, it has plenty of get-up-and-go, even now. Rides like a dream on the highway as well. The body has a weakness for rust, and the worst thing about it is that the primer was not applied properly and big sheets of paint started peeling off the roof at about 9 years old.
92 Acclaim 6 Cyl
this is my 2nd acclaim - my current is the 6 cyl - SO MUCH BETTER than the 1st - 4 cyl with almost 95,000 miles i am averaging 20 mpg - power, this engine has power and a smooth trans - rides smooth and looks GREAT inside and out the heat is HOT, the air is COLD - typical Chrysler product i am hoping that with routine maintenance, i can get the odometer to 150,000 - worry free miles -
