Unstopable Grandpa Car
This is a big boat of a car, but I love it. I used to be a Service Manager at an Oldsmobile dealership and I know how reliable these cars are. It has a fantastic engine and gets great gas mileage (routinely get 30 mpg on highway). As with any car, you will have to replace the water pump and an alternator every now and then. But otherwise, Oldsmobile Ninety-Eights are great cars.
Excellent Choice
One of the best vechicles I have owned. My Regency has 178,000 miles and still consistently get 29-30 mpg. Ride and handling are superb.
MY OLDS REVIEW
This is the best car I ever owned. Its exterior dsign was outstanding. None of the present rounded off over front so it looks like all sedans today look like the are going downhill. I have had absoulutely no mechanical problems with it, and have lubed it every 3 months or 300 miles. I have used "the treatment" carnuba presoftened car wax on it ($20 a tube) since new. I t is just fun to drive period, good mileage on tne open road and plenty of "zip"
my 2nd one
This is my second one my first one i sold to my brother in law for $500 with 295,678 miles on it 2 years ago and he still drives it i bought the one i have now with 132,244 and love it and plan on driving it a long while
Olds ahead of its time
I bought this car new 14 years ago and I have enjoyed it very much. When I was looking, my son in law suggested we check out the Oldsmobile dealer before the looking at the Lincoln's.He is very much a "car guy" and he proceeded to point out the advanced features this car offered as standard equipment ABS brakes, dual air bags, steering wheel controls for climate and stereo auto climate with driver and passenger temp controls, outside temp readout, dual front power seats both with electric lumbar support, recline feature also, over head console with dual sunglass holders, reading lights, dual lighted vanity mirrors, rear seat adjustable vents. Bottom line a great value.Very reliable and fuel efficent.
Nice ride
A large car which has been very cheap to have, few repairs, good on gas and maintance cost are low (Great first ride)
the Oldsie
I picked up my 1995 Olds Ninety Eight from an old lady a couple of years ago for $750. It was your typical grocery-getter with just a little over 100k miles on it and had spent its winters garaged. This car has been an incredible ride and for the price it can't be beat! I drive it daily now and average about 700 miles a month and the old thing still cruises down the road like a yacht. A brilliant car!
1994 Olds 98 Regency
Great vehicle. Rides and drives like a touring car. Good milage, 27-29 mpg on the highway. Very comfortable seats. Room to spare
Possibly The Best Car I Ever Owned
Rides comfortably, runs very, and starts without fail every time. Very good freeway car. It's more like flying an airplane than driving a car. The big V6 engine is fairly fuel efficient on the freeways, while giving plenty of power for big hills.
Surprisingly Good
I've had this car for four years and it's surprisingly good. It's reliable and has a luxurious ride (floaty) and interior. It also gets good gas mileage, in the upper teens in the city and mid-twentys on the highway. The only problems I've had are having to replace the fuel pump and radio. This is an inexpensive alternative to a Cadillac or Lincoln. It has bling.
Wonderful car
Very few mechanical problems. Some electrical issues.
Very dependable transportation
I've been extremely impressed with this vehicle--no real problems in the 16 months/20,000 miles I've had it. It delivers a consistent 25-26 mpg over my commute (which includes 2 fairly long, steep grades), has good power, is quiet and rides smoothly. It's not a FUN car to drive--floaty suspension and vague steering--and, at 28, I don't feel very "cool" in it...but it gets from A to B with no fuss.
My First Olds
I really like this car. It's my first Oldsmobile. My grandparents always had oldsmobiles and I have always like them. I would buy another Olds in a heartbeat.
I love it
The car is so great for the money. It has great power, and for the size of the car, its really gets up and goes. I have had my car at over230 KPH and felt completely confident. The car is extremely comfortible, and the heated seats are really nice to have. The supercharger give the car some real kick, put your foot down, and you KNOW when it kicks in. I love this car!
Great Car!
16 years old, 87,000 miles. Got it for my niece. This car is in exceptional condition for its age. Has been in storage since the original owner passed away 2 years ago. Bought it from his son. Just can't believe the condition. Handles very well. Engine/tranny are fine. Only thing she has to do is change out the cassette for a cd player. Very well built gm car!
Good Car
I am relocating across the country and I am taking this car. I knew that the minute I started to drive it! I will have it until my boyfriend and I are done with college! This car is better than most.
Wish they still made 'em.
Paid $900 for it from a dealer with 213,000 on the clock. I was happy to find one in perfect shape from Texas with "low" miles, relatively speaking. It's been in Minnesota for the past 10 years, according to CarFax. The car is a tank. I own a '94 Olds Ciera, and the quality is worlds apart. This was there best car for this year.
Not my Fathers Olds, but not bad!
Very nice and comfortable but lacks the ability to handle a heavy load like the rear drive version. For a front drive car this is very nice and has convienant controls, excelent heater and air system. The steering whell controls are excellent for the radio and climate functions.
My OldSkool Old's
This car was literally given to me. It had been sitting for two years. Well we charged the battery, put 5 bucks in gas in the tank...and prayed. After the second attempt at cranking it over, the car started right up. It has had no problems since. I've had to replace the passenger side rear window switch, and the trunk lock was busted out when the car came into my possession so that has to be replaced. I love my car. My friends and I are currently in the process of customizing it. Plans: a new CD player, a paint job, and street effex lights. The great thing about it is, my friends love my car more than I do. They love the luxurious feel of it and the fact everyone isn't all bunched up.

SENIOR CITIZEN COMFORT
It IS Your Father's Oldsmobile
I bought this car at 39,000 miles, have driven it for 5 yrs. Good, solid car BUT as with all GM cars from the 1980s and 1990s, the interior trim does not hold up. This is my second Olds (1986 Cutlass) and BOTH had air conditioners go out and had to have headliners replaced. Otherwise, I love the design and plan to drive this car until it doesn't go anymore (hopefully another 90,000 miles).
Love my car.
It only has132000 kms on it. Never painted and don't need painted. Prettiest blue I could not have ordered it any better colour. I have drove it only a thousand klicks ,but a beautiful driver.
Great car my first even
I got this car as my first car from my parents and I've loved everything about this car its got power and it handles pretty well i get alright mpg but that might be because of my lead foot. All my friends love riding along. It's a great all around car if you have the chance get your hands on one. Going around corners is loads of fun when its sharp enough to make you squeal.
Great car
Took me forever to even find one priced almost right All books on Value are WRONG and still WRONG including this site average price is 3400.00 not 1000 yes you can find one cheap abused and needing restore a clean low mileage about 6000.-8000 . THIS CAR IS WELL- BUILT AND LASTS AND MOST PEOPLE KNOW IT. THEY ARE VERY RARE NO ONE SELLS A GOOD ONE. fIND A GOOD ONE AT A FAIR PRICE buy it!!!!!
I love my Olds!
I got my Olds for my 16th birthday and it is still going strong. I have ran the crap out of it I have had no major problems. I would buy another one if I get a chance. This is a great car for new drivers, old drivers and anyone in between. Also it is very big so there is room for a bunch of people. You can fit 6 people safely (all wearing seat belts).
BRING BACK MY NINETY EIGHT
Overall, one of the finest cars I have ever driven!
True diehard car!
I still have this car and all I can say is it is amazing. I have never had any major problems with it, and other than part replacement due to normal wear it has always been vey dependable. The car now has 251,000 miles on the original engine and tranny and it still runs strong and does not burn a drop of oil. (Add to that the 29/31 MPG it gets on fuel economy, and I cant understand why GM ever stopped using this engine.) I would buy another in a heartbeat!
worth buying
I owned this car for one year an highly recomend it for anyone who spends a lot of time on the road.
176,000 miles, runs like a new car!!!
Unbelivable drive for the milage, and the last guy that drove it traveled cross country weekly in the car... Classy look for any outfit anytime... Girls love the interior(especially the back). As much space as a caprice inside
olds98 1995
i find the outside mirrors too small other than that car is a pleasure to drive .engine has enough power .comfortable seating .visablity is good, have digital dashboard ,not quit sure if i like it though i do like having avg mpg reading shown on dash .interior is roomy trunk has lots of space .so far everything has preformed ok .with all the special features that are on the car i'm holding my breath that nothing will start going bad .i'm use to working on my own cars but this one would be very difficult to work on.
Ehman's P;ds
This is the best car I have ever owned. Other than grease and oil change, the only maintenance items has been the replacement of the front wheel rotors and pads.
best car ever
i owned this car for only a short amount of time, unfortunately. after owning it for about i month i got it in a horrible roll-over accident. it got air, rolled 4 or 5 times..and was totaled, but i wasn't hurt at all; only a bump on the head and some bruises. i was so lucky to have found this car, because if i had bought any other kind i probably wouldn't have made it out. this amazing car will always be my favorite. when i had it it was so comfortable, smooth, and felt like i was flying rather than driving. definitely recommend if you can get your hands on one.
