Used 2007 Nissan Xterra SUV Consumer Reviews
Coil Packs
We bought our Xterra very used...... 161K miles but was told that it was a solid vehicle. It had already had the transmission work done. Within 2 days of taking it home the Service Engine Light came on..... I figured it was a gas cap sensor..... WRONG..... It has been back to the dealership 3 TIMES. The first time they just reset the SEL as it came up as a random misfire..... SEL came on within 60 hours of it being home. wasn't even driven!!!!! Back in.... sent it home with replacing one coil pack...... 48 hrs later SEL is on AGAIN..... Had a friend plug it in and the code read...."Random: Multiple Cylinder Misfire"..... REALLY. I drive it 10 miles a day and the only real miles I have put on this vehicle is taking it to and from the dealership to be worked on(36 miles one way). Back in there for the past 4 days... SCARED about the reliability of this vehicle. I know it's old and has miles... But I truly like it and only drive a few miles a day... Winter is coming.... Do I let it go back or keep it????

it 's ok
Overall I love it very much. It's a nice looking truck. But so far I had the problem that make noise under the hood.I brought it to the dealer and they fixed right the way.But I don't know later it will coming back again or not.Do they will cover it when it was out of the warranty . The brake kind of vibrate and make noise really loud on especially on wet weather everytime you brake or stop at the traffic light .I don't know if outside the people could hear it or not, but inside it's very loud and vibrated, feel the car is shaking. When you ran over the bump don't try to step on the brake it seem like it loose or something is out of place. I notice dealer they said It maybe the ABS sys.
junk
My daughter bought a 2007 Xterra brand new in 2007 which I now drive. As far as I am concerned Nissan made a piece of junk. The fcu went out at 29,000 then the battery had to be replaced at 32,000 now the fuel line pops off the fuel pump. This has happened twice.Nissan wants 450.00 to replace a 1.97 plastic piece. You couldn't give me the keys to 20 of them.
Sturdy, Reliable SUV
Just returned from a 3-week Colorado vacation. The S Trim XTerra performed admirably and was a pleasure to drive. Handled easy back roads with some rocks, pot holes, ruts and washboarding well -- was reluctant to try anything seriously challenging due to inexperience. Best gas mileage was 26 mpg. Mileage varies depending on driving technique, etc. Best to have a "light foot" on the accelerator. Had to replace in-cabin air filter upon return -- very dirty from dust. Since purchasing, have added skid plates, fog lamps and wind deflectors. Good investments. Happy XTerra owner.
Great Truck!
This is a great truck. I traded in a Chevy Trailblazer. I don't do much off-roading, but I like have a truck for the versatility, occasional towing, and I'm a truck guy not a car guy. The get-up-and-go is great, gas mileage is good. The previous owner had upgraded to a touchscreen Pioneer Navi/Stereo/Bluetooth & a Viper alarm w/ remote start. So the toys are fun and functional. Never wanted a navi before, but now I'll have one in every car I own! The armrest stinks :( too low and too small. Otherwise, extremely happy, great truck.
