260,000 miles and still going strong

I am the second owner of this Titan and I have put a bunch of miles on it. I have put headers, intake, throttle body spacer and full exhaust from the headers back and still running my cats. It tows my 20ft toy hauler without any issues and has towed many other things with no issues at all. I bought it with 107,000 miles on it and never had any serious issues go wrong with it in regulated to a design issue. I had to replace the tranny once but it was covered under a warranty and it was just due to a transmission cooling line came off under the truck while I was driving and I didn’t know until it was to late. And all that happened was I lost 5th gear. The rest of the gears were fine, I just finally did an oil pump in it at 258,000 miles. Other then that it’s just been normal wear and tear items. I had to do an alternator around 180,000 miles. The exhaust manifolds kept cracking so I got rid of them and put a set of jba shorty headers which made a big difference in power and drivability. The titans right out of the box are a very strong truck and the Motor VK56 is used in a lot of different racing setups. Because of this truck I’m going to be buying the newer titan model with the same motor in it.

worst truck i have bought by far. 2nd owner of 73k miles. drove it about 5k miles before putting over $5,000 in repairs into it, first problem was my drive shaft came out of my rear axle and transfer case. new axle and transfer case rebuild.. then my ECM went out, it was a safety recall, but nissan refused to pay for damages and my recall. i will not recommend this truck to anyone. then i needed a whole new front suspension (ball joints, shocks and springs) cause they were old and bad. but that comes with age.

After reading a ton of great reviews on the truck I finally test drove one and purchased it. It had all the bells and whistles that one could ask for in a full size truck. However that was short lived. After a month the truck was in the shop more then I had it. 7 trips in less then 3 weeks. Total of 12 trips in 3 months before I got rid of it. Be aware of the major brake judder problems. Gas mileage never got to what the sticker suggested. I usually only got 9mpg city and was lucky to get 11 on the highway. Pulling my 5000 pound trailer I got 8mpg.

Since getting into a Titan I actually enjoy driving again. I can't remember the last time I have gotten into any vehicle and started smiling as I was driving. Even the congested roads of western Washington don't get me down anymore. The power and smooth response of this truck is like that of a sports car but with the capability of driving off road, pulling a tree stump, and hunting. Everything from the BF Goodrich tires to the XM satellite radio is just a joy to have. The engineering is excellent and nobody can touch the utility track bed. All I want to do is drive. I want to go on a road trip so bad I can't sleep at night. However, this weekend, Mt. St. Helens, "Baby."

I have been bragging about my Titan up until this weekend when I heard a loud clunk coming from the rear axle. The noise got a little worse yesterday & today the truck is almost undriveable. It sounds & feels like something is slipping in the rear end, BAD, the slipping got so frequent & bad on the highway today that I was expecting to go home on the back of a flatbed. The truck will be going into the dealership where I bought it in the morning. They better not call me & tell me that they can't duplicate the problem or there are no "error codes" showing on their diagnostic equipment like service departments are prone to say! I expect them to blame the problem on abuse or some other excuse.
