John's 2018 Titan Platinum Reserve 4x4 Turbo-diese
I really like the truck. I wanted a half ton truck that could pull a heavy load. I reviewed Ram 1500 diesel, Ford F-150 diesel, Colorado diesel, Canyon diesel and Gmc 1500 and Chevrolet 1500 5.3 gas and 6.2 gas. i also wanted a truck that had all the amenities, and one that was easy to get in and out of. l looked at all the above truck towing capabilities, and this truck was the best, at approximately 12,300 #'s. it has all the options on it, platinum reserve, 4x4, rear step, cargo boxes inside the bed, utility track system in bed, halogen driving lights up front, and it also has the factory DVD players in back of headrest of driver and passenger seats. the truck has a 3.91 rear end and I was concerned about the mileage, when not towing. I do not drive fast, about 62MPH. At that rate of speed on a straight away I am getting between 21.4 and 24 mpg. when I pushed the truck to 70mph, my mileage dropped to 19.2 to 21.4. I am adding a K&N 100,000 mile air filter that will not void the factory warranty and I am adding a Undercover Flex Trifold tonneau cover to the truck. very pleased with the truck, has great storage in bed, comes with gooseneck ball and safety chain connectors. it also has great storage inside the cab, and under the rear seats with fold out racks for additional storage and lockable under seat rear storage. Birdseye navigation system, front and rear and side. The only thing I think Nissan could make an improvement on the placement of seat belts, They are a little hard to get too. other than that the truck is perfect.

You won't regret buying a Titan XD
I purchased my Titan XD in January of 2018. I have the 4X4 SL Crew Cab with the 5.6 gas V8. The truck has been great. It rides as smoothly as any family sedan and it quiet and comfortable inside. My old Titan had 180,000 miles when I traded it in, and was an incredible truck, so I have high expectations for the new model I bought. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. It gets good mileage for a truck its size and tows my 7,000 pound RV with no issue. The truck doesn't even sound like its working when pulling it. The whole truck feels sturdy and well put together. The doors have a solid "thunk" when closed and the materials are high quality inside. People are amazed at how nice the inside is. The only complaints I have is the infotainment screen is on the small side and the gas tank could be bigger. I get around 16 to 17 MPG in the city and around 20 to 22 on the highway with the gas V8. I am very happy with my purchase. It is also nice to drive something that looks so cool and isn't the same truck that is on every street corner and traffic light. It definitely draws attention.

Best work truck
I bought a 2017 XD S single cab gas engine truck as a retirement gift to myself. I could've bought the high end Titan but I wanted a solid work truck to tow and carry light to moderate loads. I couldn't be happier with my choice. Plenty of power and very comfortable for a large truck. I looked at all makes and models and found exactly what I wanted and needed with this Titan XD S. Priced much lower than comparable Ford, Chevy, Dodge and Toyota and the warranty is the best in the business. No regrets. If you're in the market for a truck you should look at Nissan.

Just buy one!
Best value on the perfect truck for the average truck user. Hauls 27’ travel trailer like a dream and comfortable ride and driving without a load as well. I researched forever before pulling the trigger on purchasing. Love the truck and the warranty which I haven’t needed, but peace of mind is nice to have.

Perfect.... except!
I owned a 2004 LE Titan and sold it with 220,000 miles. All trouble free. Bought the diesel fully loaded. Sticker price $66,000 and got it for $47,000 (no trade). I LOVE this truck with 3 exceptions; for the price, it should have power folding mirrors, the info center needs to be user 'programmable' (by this I mean you should be able to select where some things display such as outside temp. The driver can see it but no one else. My family likes to see it. It should be on the console screen where the GPS is or back on the rear view mirror) and lastly I think the throttle lag on acceleration is going to get someone hurt. As an example, when you slow to merge onto the highway then punch it to merge in, the truck sits there thinking for a second before actually accelerating. This allows on coming traffic to be on top of you.

Checks the boxes.
Great truck. Great value. Very comfortable, heated seats are not hot enough. Stereo best ever. Engine and tranny work great. Falls below 55 MPH on steep grades towing max rated load of 12500lbs. MY wife loves the running boards and smooth ride. Resale not so good, have no idea why. Will continue to roll it no plans of selling.

Totally regret purchase
Purchased with Cummins diesel brand new. Multiple returns to the dealership for warranty work. Latest issue caused major engine shut down and white exhaust. Turns out issue was DEF sensor, system was consuming DEF abnormally fast. Only 4 days after DEF sensor warranty repair, engine light turned on. Returned to dealership who is telling us we need to cough up $8k to replaced a failed catalytic converter because we’re over the 50k emissions warranty (we’re at 77k). We are disputing this with Nissan corporate but strongly believe the DEF sensor directly contributed to the cat failure being that it’s a major component of the emissions system. Nissan just started incorporating Diesel engines in their line of vehicles around 2015/2016, based on that alone we should have never purchased. However this BS warranty issued is settled, after the truck gets fixed by a REAL diesel repair shop, we’ll be getting rid of it. Update two years later: Wish we would have followed through getting rid of this truck after Nissan agreed it was their fault and ended up paying and performing the repair. Now four of the eight fuel injectors failed. Dealership wanted $10,000 to repair a 4 year old truck. Traded this lemon in and took a loss. Worthless truck, worthless company. Shame on Nissan.
Titan Number 2
I owned a 2009 Titan LE. I sold it with 152,000 miles on it. I am now the proud owner of a 2018 Titan XD. I use it daily for work. I have put 15,000 miles on it this year. My daughter and her husband use it to pull their camper. I really don't understand the bad reviews. I would buy this truck again. it does everything I ask it to do. As I update this I must say that I can't believe I can not get a new one. Mine now has 100000 miles without any problems. Maybe in another 50000 miles I can find a low miles one to buy.

Over 10k on Gas V8 with long trips
Great truck with flexible bed tie-down system. Two long-distance trips, one loaded to maximum hauling capacity and one nearly empty bed and both trips were very comfortable. Very good passing power from V8. Local driving also good - some minor inconvenience from turning circle, but on par or better than the heavy duty trucks. No maintenance issues to complain about yet (better track record at this mileage than our most recent Ford truck). Navigation screen may be small, but system responds well to voice commands and is very easy to use.

2017 Platinum Reserve sled
Overall this is a nice truck. The interior is very nice, but the truck lacks a few amenities a “platinum” should come standard with. Not having power folding mirrors is a big disappointment. Leg room is also poor if you’re over 6’ tall. My biggest complaint is the throttle response and the transmission. There have been several instances where either the slow throttle response or turbo lag has nearly gotten me broadsided. The transmission (which is the same POS that dodge once used) shift erratically when driving in stop and go, in town traffic. I have owned Ford, Chevy, and Dodge diesel trucks, and the 5.0 Cummins in this Nissan has the worst throttle response and turbo lag of any of them. Going to try a programmer soon to see if that helps with these issues.

Great Truck
Buy the gas version, don't buy the diesel! I purchased the gas V8 in 2017 and I could not be happier with it. Excellent acceleration and power. Nissan reliability. This is my 4th Nissan truck over 25 years and they have all been great. The diesel however is plagued with problems. Nissan is still too new to diesel and the extra $5000 is not worth it. GET THE GAS VERSION!!! You won't regret it. It tows 11,000 pounds versus the diesel 12,000, but has much faster acceleration, is more reliable, and has a higher payload capacity. With the diesel you lose more than you gain in towing capacity.

My First Titan 2017 XD platinum 4x4 turbo diesel
I've had Fords my whole life.......loved them all; but wanted a diesel. Ford wanted $15-$20,000 more for their diesel so I went with the Diesel Titan XD Platinum 4x4. Love this truck. Pulls my 24' trailer with ease.......just like it's not there. I get 15-18 miles to the gallon with normal around town driving. One time I got 30 miles to the gallon driving out of the mountains; 35 miles on highway mostly downhill. I have to put 2 1/2 gallons of DEF in every 3-4000 miles. The Cummins Turbo Diesel is the quietest diesel engine I've heard and has plenty of get-up and go. 5 STARS FROM ME !!!!!!!!!

Love this Nissan Titan XD Diesel
If you need a regular ole half ton truck that you are not planning on pulling anything with do not get this truck. BUT, If you need to pull a 5th wheel camper or around 10k lbs for miles and miles....This is a awesome truck. The platinum reserve has it all. FANTASTIC truck. I have been coast to coast in it with all of my gear and I just love it.

Last truck I will ever" own".
I have followed this trucks development since I read a story about it. We were about to retire and needed a tow vehicle to pull our 33 foot travel tailor. Purchased from Montana dealer and loaded car on trailer and headed home. Impressed with power right of the start with 14.5 towing at 80 mph..I do most or all my maintenance and oil changes. To date we are at 13000 miles, trip to Florida where we averaged down and back to ND 18.3 ,mpg...Worst fuel economy was in Georgia account lower C-tain values but overall grate cruising. At 12000 miles fuel economy gained about 2.2 mpg either cruising or towing. I average now about 8.7 towing TT at 70 mph now and am satisfied with this. Fuel filters are easy to change and reasonably priced if you buy from Cummings.I carry spares, oil and fuel filters since cold starts can blow oil filter seal and develop leak. One trip to Florida and three towing trips to SD and all is great..
Best truck I've owned!
Great truck....period! 100,000 mile bumper to bumper gives lots of peace of mind. This truck has done everything I've asked of it and then sum. I've put a 1300 lb Club Car Onward in the bed and a 10,000 lb 35 ft travel trailer behind it and up the mountains of NC every other weekend and could tow plenty more with the Cummins 5.0 Diesel and still have fuel for 300 more miles. Roomie, great looks and as quite as a gas engine. Handling is great and the ride is super. The only con I have is that it has to wait for the turbo to hit 8-10% for it to really show its "ump". I'm really pleased with this truck and would no hesitate to purchase it again.

A Worthy Alternative to The Big 3
I bought my '18 5.6 SV 4x4 new in February 2019 as a leftover model. Having had several Nissan's (9) currently and in the past (including a regular 06 Titan), I was very familiar with the manufacturer's product. The truck doesn't serve as my daily driver, but does see plenty of use for projects around my property. I probably could have made do with the regular Titan, but I was able to pick this one up several thousand dollars cheaper than any of those available within 300 miles. The truck has more than enough power to tow or haul, provided that you stay within the limits specified by Nissan. I have towed the same 8k trailer behind this and an F-150, and would choose the Nissan every time! With a nearly indestructible spray-in bedliner, Utilitrack cleats, and LED under rail lighting there isn't much you can haul that will create any real worries. The elevated load height of the bed is slightly cumbersome but it is a fair trade for the increased payload capacity. The ride is pretty stiff and jittery over rough pavement, but within tolerable levels given the "XD" capabilities. I knew going in that the gas mileage wouldn't be spectacular. Unladen, I usually average 15-16 mpg in mixed city/country driving. I know Ford/Chevy/Ram all advertise higher ratings for their half ton trucks, but I'm willing to bet this is within spitting distance of what they actually see on a daily basis. I guess if I had to identify my biggest complaint, it would be the paint quality on the vehicle. There are areas where the clearcoat and paint are so thin you can actually feel a difference. Though you can't physically see the thin spots, they scratch to the metal with minimal contact. I have spoken with Nissan, and they assure me the finish is within their paint thickness specifications as tested at a local dealer (which I find hard to believe). None of my previous Nissan vehicles have exhibited paint quality issues in any manner, so perhaps this is one of the very few exceptions to their normally high standards. Regardless, I will have to pay someone to detail and apply a ceramic coating if I want the truck to stay looking decent (admittedly, I am slightly more OCD inclined than most normal people in this realm). Overall, I would highly recommend giving the Nissan a look if you're in the market for a new truck. It won't compete with the usual domestic heavy duty versions, but that was never the intent for this truck. It was designed to haul and tow in a more stable fashion than half ton trucks, and it does this very well. If you stay with the S and SV trims, they are a relative bargain.

Pleasantly surprised
What power V-8 ! Roomy, spacious smooth ride! It turns on a dime like a luxury vehicle. To top it off comes with a 100,000 mile warranty! I travel mostly highway miles 500 to 600 miles both times I got 22.8 mpg.

2017 Nissan Titan XD Crew Cummins Midnight Edition
I owned a 2006 Nissan Titan for 9 years and never gave me any issues other than some slow windows. So I bought the above 2017 with 6k miles for 44K at a Ford Dealer. I pulled a Travel Trailer up hills over 1000 over max weight 14K and couldn't notice any hesitation. I drove 1000 miles and my butt never fell asleep. The truck has plenty of power and the turbo allows you to get out of any situation. The only negative I can report 2 years later is when using defrost diesel smell enters the cabin. There is an adjustment for this, however if you fix this you will feel a hesitation in stop and go traffic. You have to choose which is worst. I have heard many other makers diesels make this smell. When people do comparisons remember this truck is in a field by itself. Its not a half ton or a 3/4 ton but right in the middle. I have owned several models of both. Chevy, GMC, Dodge and Ford. This truck offers the comfort of a half ton but can push the towing close to a 3/4 ton. Cummins makes the best diesel engine by far. Very reliable that will last for many decades. I am sad that they stopped production of the Cummins in 2019 I am guessing because people didn't know how to compare with other trucks. I love this truck!

I really like this truck.
I liked this truck when I first saw it in July of 2018 but I wasn't ready to buy and I have always been a Ford person. I traded in my 2010 F150 which I purchased new from a local dealer and had numerous issues with the trucks paint and speaker system. The items were fixed by the dealer but not until I made appointments with the owner. It shouldn't have to be this way and I cannot comment on Nissan yet but I do hope we have a better relationship. I have to be honest and say I tried hard to buy another F150 but I just could not get them to come to my price. So I went back to look at the Nissan one last time, the trim package that comes with the truck is far superior to what Ford was offering at 3-4 K higher price. Nissan gave me Lariet options less than the XLT price! The interior is great and roomy, I love the storage system under the bed and toolbox and tie-down system in the bed. Ford didn't even offer any of those options. I only have 2 complaints the electronics are needing. (1)Pretty basic Bluetooth and the GPS system. (2) It is thirsty, but what can you expect from a 5.6 V8. The web says to expect an average of 18 between city and highway driving. I will be happy if I see 15! I have had the truck 6 months now, the gas mileage is still an issue 13.0 City and 15.5 highway, not very good. The "apps" like I heart and google search don't work and the Customer support tells you if they don't they just don't!.

Towing is where she shines
The only draw back is the price of the fuel filters. From the Dealer about 80 bucks, every 10K. I live in the country so not much city driving, but I get 23mpg . Towing she pulls like an ape, and still gets 12mpg with 5K load. Diesel's are sluggish out of the hole, but I-Drive took care of that, and warranty compliant. Best bang for the bucks in diesel world.

Problem with the milage computer
This appears to be an unquie problem. I can average between 18 to 20 miles per gallon when the milage computer is not malfunctioning. Periodically it will show I am averaging 5 to 7 miles per gallon. I did video tape the instrument panel when the milage indicator was acting up and when it is fine to prove the am not driving rough. I was able to convince the mechanics at Car Max it does have a problem they cannot figure out. I took it to Nissan 1st and I they told me everything was fine, it must be the he way I am driving. I have not shared the video with Nissan yet. It acts up about 25% of the time. Due to the problem the milage indictator averages 14 MPG.

NICE TRUCK
The Turbo lag is a problem, one day this lag is going to get someone killed or injured. Other than that my Titan XD Texas Edition is probably the best overall truck I have owned
Titan XD Long term review
The Titan XD is without a doubt the best bang for your buck in the diesel market. The resale value on these trucks is extremely poor but for the consumer, that means you can go pick up a lightly used one for half what it was new. Fully loaded Titan XD's with the diesel are floating around the $30k mark with 10-40k miles. You just can't go wrong. Not to mention the trucks come with a 100000 mile 10 year warranty.

Poor quality
I purchased 2017 Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve and it was great for 6 years, but then the transmission had to be replaced (I don't use it for towing or hauling heavy loads) it cost $8000 to replace, now 7 months later another part went out and it's costing another $1500. I've owned several trucks before and by far Nissan has been the worst!

one drawback. Gas milage could be greatly improved
My 2018 Titan XD Sv has 265 60 R 20 tires. one drawback is the clearance between the front tires and fender liners when making sharp or left hand turns. The tires will Rub on the inner part of the mud flaps/mud guards. I wanted to put longer mud guards on it and wider, Not able to do so due the rubbing issues. If I pick up mud or snow on the tires they really rub. Anyone else had this problem or issue please [contact information removed] with suggestions. Hard on fuel cost

Do you even Xd Bro??
Have owned my 2017 titan xd 5.0 PR for over 4yrs and have put 77k miles on her, and have only had 2 issues. The first was a coolant sensor that was making the truck think the coolant was empty a d the second was the turbo actuator, both were warranties and fixed by Nissan. NOw I did lose a week each time an issue occurred, but the problems were fixed without my having to pay so I cant complain too much. The truck is more than I need and has never failed me in any way, plus I love having a truck nobody else has, the uniqueness of the truck is evident from the 1st time you drive it by the number of eyeballs you'll notice staring as you drive by.
