The Car that Won't Die.
This was my first car, back in '05. I was a teenager, and I came with all the neglect and rough riding that teenagers do. With that said, I have abused this car. I have driven it in to ditches, driven without an oil pan plug (25 miles with oil spewing the whole way!), gone almost 2 years with no oil change, and ramped the thing off a hill doing 90mph. The last one flattened the oil pan. And yet, the car put up with my retardation. The worst it has ever needed was new CV joints. Repairs are few and far between, and cheap when you need them. I still have the original engine and tranny, and both are somehow still going. This car will never let you down.
couldn't be happier
I purchased this car in thinking it would only last me a year, ha, was I wrong. I started with 88k and it currently has 173k and still running strong. My only major repairs were a clutch replacement, front driver wheel bearing, and water pump. Aside from normal maintenance this car will not give up! It is my daily driver (gets around 30mpg on the highway) and if I could buy another one with low miles I would do it in a heartbeat.
Great First Car
This was the first car I ever bought, and it was a great choice. I have had to repair a lot of things on it, including the clutch, paint, alternator (more than once), locks and a door. Most repairs were needed due to previous owner's neglect, so not all require so many repairs. This car has gotten me through a lot and the gas mileage is by far the best thing about it. I average 35-40 mpg. This is a great car for a teenager, because it can withstand a lot of use and abuse with relatively low repair costs and affordable insurance.
Great little car!
This older model Sentra has been such a reliable car. I bought it when I was in college at 110k miles on it and drove it the 300 miles back and forth between my hometown and college for 2 years, and at that point it was already 13-14 years old! Does great on the interstate. The only thing I didn't like about it was it doesn't have a lot of "get up n' go" when accelerating and it tends to lose momentum/power when going up hills, especially when there is more than 2 people in the car. Like every car, there's mechanical work to be done. I have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump 3x in the 5 years that I have owned it. Nothing else major. Overall, super good, reliable little car. Loved it.
I Love My Sentra
This car was handed down to me from my father. We purchased it 6 years ago and we couldn't be any happier with the car. I am a teenager and I drive the car to its limits. I enjoy it because it gets me to and from school and work. It does have a lot of rust though, the person before us didn't take very good care of it. I also enjoy the great gas millage I get with it. I'll take 34 mpg over anything else. I get better gas millage then most of these new cars on the road today. I have had some problems with sensors and my clutch switch. But they were cheap and inexpensive items to replace. I expect to run this car until the day it dies. And I have a feeling its going to be a couple more years be 4 it dies.
The Energizer Bunny of cars
Mine has 170,000+ miles on it. It has taken me across the U.S., up and down mountains, across snowy rural roads, through narrow city streets... everywhere! Paint is peeling off, visors torn. What can you expect. It's an older car. I had to replace the alternator, had some brake work done. Transmission fluid leak gave me a big scare but it was only a $300 repair for that. AC doesn't work anymore (in the northwest though, it's usually fine). We'll get a new car eventually... we are waiting for this one die. But the Sentra keeps on going. We might go another year with it.
Great Car
I purchased this car back in Nov 2007 with 185,000 miles on it. I now have 223,000 it and the car is still running great. I am the 2nd owner of this car the 1st owner took great care of it and I have also been taking good car of it also. I paid $1100 for this car but the car easily paid for itself when gas price got high in 08 this car was still getting 35 miles to the gallon. I have had to replace a couple parts such as the alternator, front disk and pads, thermostat, tires. But I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable work car. I drive it 64 miles total round trip everyday 5 days a week. I look forward to seeing at least 300,000 miles on this car. Best car Nissan ever built.
Good little car
I have had my sentra for 6 years now and its a good reliable car. Major repairs was a rebuilt engine my fault there I had an oil leak and I did not fill it or got it fixed like I should have. And I had to have the tranny rebuilt a few years ago again due to a tranny leak.. 116,000 when I bought it and now at 154,00 running goo...Just have to make sure its properly maintained. I'm 6'2 tall and the car is not made to accommodate tall people.
reliable transportation
Great gas mileage . fun too drive and reliable.

Love my Little Red
My 94 Sentra E 1.6 5spd manual with 150,000 on her. She will not die. I bought it used 4yrs ago as a second car. She might sit for weeks and still fires on the first crank. I've done the brakes and alternator as well as the clutch cable when I first got her but other than that nothing. It's 2017 and I don't want to let her go. Unfortunately the previous owner was unappreciative of her and she went to rot. You see prior to this one I had a 93' with 180.000 that I bought for $400 and put 60,000 mi on over 6yrs delivering pizza. That too was rotted when I got her. Some paint and bondo and good to go. Sad to say that the frame has seen better days and unless I can get some welding done then it's only a matter if time. It's hard to find these anymore. If you do they are probably automatics and that aint for me.

best car i ever owned
besides normal maintanance ex. (tires, brakes, oil change)I've had no problems with this car. I bought the car with 11,004 miles and now it has over 165,000. great car!!!!!
I love my sentra
I had 98000 miles before I had any major work done. and then I had to replace the clutch. yes, 98000 miles on one clutch. this is the most reliable, fun to drive little car. Great value for the price of this gem
Wonderful Car
I bought 1994 XE new and have had practically no problems with it now that car is a little over 80,000. Replaced front brakes. Now there's a leak in trunk which I partically fixed and found out more information about on this site somewhere.
1994 Nissan Sentra
I bought my car almost 4 years ago after never finding a good replacement for another Japanese import. I have put ~$1500 in some repairs (starter, oil seal, struts, brakes, battery) in about 3 years, but the car has been very economical. The car has been very reliable even when fancier cars couldn't start or go in bad weather. You are a smart person to get this car. I will look for a comparable vehicle when this one gives up... if it ever gives up!
Great car
This car was purchased used 123000 miles now has 218000 miles and still going strong. Tough little car.. My family said if it still runs with me driving it has to be a great vehicle. Only one problem since purchase, alternator problem. Other than this, can't complain about this little jewel.
Tampas finest
My Nissan has been an exceptional investment with a great history of performance. There have been zero problems and this car could out last me.
Great Dependable Car For the Money
This is my second sentra. I get approximately 38 MPG on the highway. I recommend this car for anyone looking for a dependable no frills ride. This recommendation is for the manual 5- speed transmission only.
Reliable & Fun
I have had this car for four years now. I have taken it on my long distance trips, including Texas to Ontario, Canada and back. It has required little maintence. The car responds well and has a peppy engine. After owning this car I plan on buying another Nissan.
Nissan Sentra
I love my car. I've had it for 4 years and it runs beautifully. I have never had any serious engine trouble, just upkeep.
Just wont die
This has been a relatively low cost car to own. It gets 30+ mpg when driven normally. The smaller engine makes it tough especially when the car looses quite a bit of speed when climbing hills. It just keeps going. Ours has 183k miles and a cousin has one with 250k miles.
10 year max life
After my car was almost 10 years old, the paint began to peel and my visor had a worn spot. I was very attached to my car, but no more! The last 4 months have cost me about $300 each month! That is a car payment. I keep thinking "after this is fixed, I have another year" but that is WRONG! I am heartbroken after the care and maintenance I paid for!
great ecno car
I bought the car new, have had nothing to it done except tune-up and oil changes.....over all great car, for its orginal price.
Perfect Car
Bought my Nissan new as a commuter. Went through two Saabs, two fords, and a Nissan pickup as my second car during the past 8 years - but the Sentra has been all but perfect. NO NONE ZERO repairs in 165,000 miles! Timing chain means no expensive belt replacements. Just tires, oil, couple of sets of break pads, and thats it. Aircon still cool, seats survived my children, can't say enough good things.
keeps on humming
a great car for a single person on a budget
Amazing Econobox
I love this car. Best used car I bought after 1980. This 118,000 mile sentra just goes and goes and goes and.... It still feels very solid and handles well. It starts instantly. Great low speed acceleration-beats most econs at stoplights-ssssh. Mash it at 23 mph and it scats surprisingly. Car was stolen, thieves took great aftermarket stereo and catalytic converter-replacement converter made car even peppier. Ac still ice cold, excellent heater. Automatic transmission is responsive and well designed. Burns no oil, only significant repair was alternator replacement. Roomy, comfortable, durable interior. Great visability. Large trunk. Decent ride. Good vehicle and purchase, highly recommended!
FUN, reliable and economic
I have had some good references about these little cars, so I decided to try and buy my own. Even tough the previous owner didn't knew a thing about maintenance (treated the car as if it was just gas, water, yearly inspection and go) I got it.. put an additional 200 dollars on good service and is running great. Still gives me a little more than 40mpg... great buy
40 mpg is Fun!
My 1994 GXE Sentra is the most reliable car I've ever owned! It now has 85,000 miles, and only the alternator, and starter have been replaced, aside from the usual, tires, batteries, and brakes (it eats front disk pads). I have the smaller 1.6 liter, which is adequate, but the 2.0 would have been better in my Rocky Mountain area. 32City/41Hwy without a/c at 65. With a/c about 38mpg highway. Paint still looks great after 12 years. Transmission is smooth. Tip: keep auto in "Drive" for city use (off freeways) for better acceleration, and engine braking if you live in hilly areas. Back seat in/out is very poor, but comfort is OK considering it's a Sentra. My next car will be a newer Sentra!
Excellent car
My mother gave me this car when I started college. She bought it new in '94. With regular oil changes, this car does not have any mechanical problems. I plan on getting a new car later on this year and was considering trading it in. But I'll probably get ripped off b/c of the miles -- 160000. So I'll give it back to Mom or to my sister.
Keep walking!!!!
Front crankshaft seal, CV joints, alternator (that failed with no warning light, leaving me stranded), brakes that refuse to be fixed, shifting linkage, possible transmission failure in the making, terrible injector problems...No more Nissans for me. So much for Sentra reliability!!!
Wonderful, reliable car
I bought my 1994 Nissan Sentra in 1998 with 69,000 miles on it. It now has over 145,000 miles. I rarely ever have to do any maintenance on it, other than the regular oil changes, etc. I've had to replace the battery (after owning it for 5 years), and I did have to replace the CV joints, but other than that, I just put gas in it and it goes and goes. Also...about the gas mileage...I get 32 miles to the gallon. I think that's pretty good! I have thought about selling it for a newer car (mine does not have PW or PL), but I'm afraid that I could never find something as reliable as this one has been for me.
money in the bank
Back in 1995 just married and new child this car came at the perfect time. It delivered fuel economy, comfort and four doors for baby. I've been a fan of Japanese dependability and this car has been a main stay in our family now for almost 10 years. I drive in heavy traffic daily around 80 miles. This Sentra has the pep to hit the passing lane with no fear. Last checked I was getting 38.5 MPG with 190,000 miles on my workhorse. There is not the space of our minivan but for a small family in moderate shape we fit comfortably in this car for small trips.
Good Car
I am the sole owner of this car. Although I don't view her as spectacular, I am having trouble parting with her. It's hard to beat low maintenance/no car payment. I have a mere 95,000 miles on her and the only significant mechanical problem is that something has been amiss with the transmission - so she slips out of 5th gear - making it virtually a 4 speed car. At this point I figure I've been able to live with the defect for 20,000 miles I might as well let her be.
I bought my Nissan by accident
I planned on getting a protege but accedently went to a nissan dealership first and got a sentra. After 10 years of driving I have keeped up on my maintence and the only problems I have had has been starters that wear out, torn cv boots the other repairs I had have done did not happen until I reached over 190,000 miles, emmision controls and transmission repair, I have found the reliability of my 1994 sentra as a welcome surprise after all I bought it on accedent. I would recomend this model year to anyone who can find one with low milage as a good choice.
1994 1/2 Nissan Sentra-LE
I have enjoyed my Nissan Sentra LS so much that for the first time in my life I have kept the same car for 11 years. It is fun to drive, comfortable, and has a very small turning radius. The brakes had to be replaced sooner than I anticipated, but overall I had few problems mechanically. The refrigeration and heating systems are still topnotch.
Mr Reliable!
your boss has a 50,000 dollar car, u have a 2500 $ '94 sentra. boss seems to take his car to the garage every couple of months. u take yours for the regular oil changes. boss get 20miles per gallon. u get 32-5 miles per gallon...... you choose which one you would want. (but boss gets more girls looking his way and u dont! :( but what the hell, he's married) :-)
It just runs and runs and runs ...
This is by far the most economical car I have ever owned! My sister bought this Sentra new and sold it to me with 100k miles on it in 2000. I've driven it over another 100k and it just runs and runs. Always starts on the first try, will cruise comfortably at 80+ MPH all day long and gets 35-40 MPG depending on how hard I push it. It's unconditionally reliable. Give it regular oil and filter changes and it just runs and runs. I use it for work, driving 100-200 miles a day including driving up dirt roads to mountaintop radio sites and it just won't quit.
looks like a paper boat, but runs great!
I bought my 94 Sentra with 119,000 miles as a get-to-work car, and have had problems only with wearable items. The clutch was replaced at 125,000 miles, brakes cleaned and one slow leak in a tire but other than that no problems. Put some work into it to get better perfomance, but it only does so much for the little engine. Gas mileage is excellent. I get roughly 40 MPG in 5th. Handles good in the snow. I drive this car without mercy, it hasn't faltered yet. I've put over 17,000 miles on it in six months and it holds up good. Oil changes are very easy, many original parts still under the hood holding up great. Basic maintenance is all i need, i.e. oil change, coolant, etc. Awesome little car!
w0w!!
well i cant complain it is very sporty and it has a great look, i will keep you posted!!!
great safety
We purchased the car for the mpg since it was primarly used to & from work & shopping. Even after how old it was we still got on adverage 35 mpg. Coming home it was hit head on by a pontiac grand prix. The engine was still running and had to be turned off. The injury to the driver was a lot less than what was on the other driver with only a broken arm and ankle. We never would have thought that such an economical car would be built so well
It just runs forever
We bought this car with 55,000 miles on it, and now it has 167,000. It just runs and runs. We have a car to get us where we need to go and carry our packages. Nice big trunk, 4 doors, and we change the oil and that is basically it. If we could find another one, we would buy it. Practical, smart, reliable, and a great car. Before we bought it, we researched it and the reports said to expect 250,000 miles. I recommend this to anyone who wants a reliable and practical car and is not caught up with trying to keep up with the Joneses.
Sentra
My experience with this vehicle was terrible. I am almost positive I had so many problems because the people before me have no concept of car maintenence. There have been 2 different motors put in it other than the one it came with, burns oil, leaks oil, etc.
94 SE-R
Great, inexpensive car. A true pocket rocket. This was my first new car and I still enjoy driving it today. It's plain jane looking exterior is a benefit for a car that is this quick.
Long Lasting
My husband & I has had this car since they came out. & now I am still driving it with over 200,000 miles riding on it, and it is working great! We haven't really changed anything on it just regular maintence on it. And it runs great! I had a Honda Civic and it only had 80,000 miles on it and everything was going wrong with it, so I had to sell it and stay with old trust worthy!!!
Great College Car
I got his car when my last one died, so it was a last minute decision, and now i can't be happier that i did. Like every one else says you change the oil and it goes. I've had little things done, like a new altanator and seat belt motor, but that is expected with a car that has over 150000 miles on it and is 12 years old! I would reccemend it to anyone looking for a inexpensive car that needs to be reliable.
The Best Car I Ever Owned
I bought the Sentra about 8 years ago and it is the greatest car I ever bought! With 210,000 mile on the car with no major problems how can anyone not be impressed. I just get in the car, turn the key and go.
not a bad little car...
Not a bad little car for a kid who just needs to get to work and school each day. Great for the occasional road trip too! Good gas mileage, oil leaks are a problem however. This car has been through a lot and is still running great even through the neglect of a teenager! I highly recomend this car for a first time driver!
The indestructible Sentra!
I bought this car new and it currently has over 210,000 miles. Prior to this purchase, I had two Honda Accords neither of which could hold a candle to the dependability of my Sentra. This car continues to amaze me. I religiously have the oil changed and top off the fluids. The only other maintenance needs have been brake pads and rotors and replacement of the belts. The A/C and heat work as well as the day I bought the car. I've also had no problems with the power windows and locks. This is a tough little car that just keeps going. I couldn't ask for a more dependable automobile that's easy and fun to drive.
Best $400 car i own A/c Even works
Wonderful car great on gas 30 miles o the gallon with a/c on. Just put a wheel bearing on the front. I am the 3rd owner and the first owner include all the maintains records, car was serviced every 3000 to 5000 miles wih a new air filter twice a year. Second ower got car from a gift from her sister the first owner and did not maintain the car very good for the year she had it, but she put new rotors and brakes on it and drove it with a bad wheel bearing (ouch) and a oil change probly and that was probly it. Great used price $400.00 for 1994.5 Nissan sentra limited edition. With 175,000 miles and ice cold a/c, who ever heard of a working a/c on a 400 dollar car.
DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE
OVERALL A VERY GOOD CAR. BUY ONE WITHOUT POWER WINDOWS BUT WITH A CRUISE CONTROL. BUY A 4 DR OVER A TWO DOOR. TRANSMISION LASTED 110,000 MILES,($1700) ALTERNATOR LASTED 100,000 MILES ($425.00), STARTRR MOTORS DIE AT 60,000 MILES ($450.00), ENGINE HAS 175,000 MILRD SNF STILL RUNS WELL, ORIGINAL SHOCKS 175,000 MILES STILL DON'T NEED TO BE REPLACED.
Loved it!
This car was a daily driver for me for six years. Had to replace the alternator and fuel pump at 75k. Other than that, the brakes needed constant replacement, but I was still on the original clutch when I sold it at 120k! This car was peppy, responsive and a reliable drive no matter what the speed. I definitely will MISS this car. Even after I was broadsided by an Escalade, this car shrugged it off and kept going. Only significant problem was the electrical system at 95k - dash lights and radio kept shorting out with no real cure.
