Well priced family luxury

Rachel Harris, 11/30/2019

This is my second Rogue SV with premium package. It has more bells and whistles than anything else in class and they all come standard. Test drove the Honda CRV which has horrible body roll, is noisy and an uncomfortable seat if you butt is a little larger. Test drove Toyota, Rav 4 which is more peppy but has fewer features as standard and the warning light for a nearby vehicle is in the mirror so not easily caught in periphery vision the way the Rogue is. Like the high stadium back row - much better for stopping car sickness in kids, the adaptable trunk lay out - hold a week of groceries, a stroller, and some general junk without any problem - and the birds eye reversing camera stops me hitting the garage door when I park. New features on the 2020 include automatic emergency breaking when the kids are running behind the car. Perfect for family living.

This is my first new car purchase, it replaced a 2004 Trailblazer so the driving dynamics are very different. I have driven the comparable Toyota and Honda offerings, and genuinely feel this is a great value. The tech and safety features are excellent for the price point. Some people complain that it feels sluggish, but my daily is an F-150 with a 5.0 v8 pushing 380hp, and I have never felt the Rogue to be sluggish. It has plenty of zip for my needs, the handling feels like a much smaller car, it’s responsive and tight. This is my first car with a CVT and I have no complaints so far. I know the old complaints about cvt’s and have experienced them in other cars, but this one feels more like a proper transmission, and I’m super impressed. We’ll see how it holds up long term, but I think they have come a long way since their inception. Anyone in the market for a compact crossover should definitely consider the Rogue, so far it seems to be a great value in it’s class. Update: After three years and 27k miles of daily use and minimal maintenance I can report that the Rogue has continued to be an excellent car. No major issues, just oil changes and basic maintenance. I do plan on getting the CVT fluid changed at 30k miles, it’s sooner than Nissan recommends, but from what I have read if the fluid is changed every 30k miles significantly increases the lifespan of the CVT.

I bought my Rogue 4 months ago and i'm fully satisfied. Special mentions for the Zero Gravity Seats which brings outstanding comfort. Also Great fuel economy almost the same that my previous 2007 Honda Accord 2007. Fully recommend.

There's nothing to dislike

When the lease on my 2017 Rogue was up I wanted to upgrade to the 2020 for the safety features. Because it has the lane departure warnings and other newer safety features, my car insurance actually went down. I also think my new Rogue handles better and rides smoother than the 2017 model. This car is the perfect size and has all the cargo room and versatility I need. It may not go from 0 to 60 in 2.0 seconds, but it has enough get up and go to smoothly get on the highway and has a comfortable ride at 80 (which is my normal cruising speed). Honestly, there is nothing I don't love about this car.

Spacious interior with neat tech features.

Excellent tech features with the birds eye view, lane departure and blind spot warnings. Lots of space inside for both long legged passengers and luggage. A reliable car even on a long drive. Cheap interior materials - including the plastics and steering trim. Paint on the door ledge completely wears out with normal use in a short time. Not something you expect in a quality brand. Mileage about 23 mpg only. Goes as high as 33 on the highway but without AC and with lots of downhill sections. Seat power panel poorly designed and needs replacement regularly. Unnecessary maintenance recommended by dealer.

I have owned several CVT transmissions and never had a problem. A CVT works very smoothly if you adjust your driving style. I have a 2020 Rogue SV and it has useful features and the design team have made some sensible design choices. Good all round vehicle packaged with features.

The car is nice but the engine is sluggish and the cvt transmission from Nissan seems to have a habit of failing from all the research I have done. I have had one cvt fail five months after warranty expired of course. I will NOT use a cvt again.

The best about that car are features. And you won’t get anything near it for the same price. The important ones. Bought mine 2y ago. Electric, heated mirrors, heated steering wheel, all around camera system is very very nice, large screen, electric heated seats, driver electric seat multipoint adjustment, seats are comfortable, split AC, gps, I mean you name it, this car has really nice features. I bought it with I think so called winter package. Roof racks, led lamps, shielded bottom of the car! I’m still impressed, and you won’t be disappointed in this department, it excels. AWD! Electronic driving aids, blind spot, all that is really really nice, it’s really packed with features like nothing on the market, you won’t find anything close for the price, trust me. And there is many more pros. Now two cons. I’m driving Altima now, rental for few days. The acceleration in Rouge is a joke in comparison. Altima feels like a catapult, Rouge feels like turtle. Rouge can go fast but acceleration is weak. CVT contributes to overall bad acceleration experience, to me it’s downgrade from regular transmission. For everyday commute it’s perfect. But if you in rush on the road, I smoked traffic today in Altima, I couldn’t do it in Rouge, forget about it. Second, trunk is not so big as people say. I say it’s actually small, it feels like Altima’s trunk is twice the size. So go for it, this car will give you lots of comfort on all levels, no doubt about it, but it. On other hand if the only one thing you look for is the engine acceleration then Christ stay away, this car is made for comfort not for speed. Ok good luck.

3rd Rogue Review

Rogue Guy, 11/09/2020
2020 Nissan Rogue SV 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)
19 of 22 people found this review helpful

I've been a Nissan guy for years and this is my 3rd Rogue. I've always leased my cars, but I thought the great discounts of the outgoing model 2020 would present a great opportunity to buy a vehicle. PROS: Great price and incentives, great safety features, spacious, (Tan interior makes it feel even more so) smooth CVT, comfortable seats, quiet ride, great cargo storage options, heated seats, memory seats, great A/C, decent stereo, CD player for old heads like me, good looking wheels with Premium Package, and a great A/C. CONS: The electric power steering on the 2020's has more play than my 2018. So much so that I took it back to the dealer to make sure it it wasn't out of alignment. I recommend driving in sport mode, but it still has more play than I would like. The steering wheel itself feels slightly thinner than the 2018. That also adds to the steering feeling more loose than before cause I liked the extra weight of the steering wheel. When closing the door it sounds more "tinny" and not as solid as my 2018. The body feels lighter, but more flexible; like the old Saturn Vue's. I'm concerned about the long term reliability of the CVT, so that and the loose steering are the reasons for 4 starts instead of 5. The new Rogue's look great, but I feel like the 2020's still offer a decent looking SUV at a great price.

Faulty dashboard/Android Auto

There is a feature on this dashboard called Android Auto, an app that connects your phone to the dashboard. It worked for a couple weeks then stopped. The dealer can't fix it cause it's an app issue and the app people have been trying to fix it over a month with no luck. I tried buying a new phone and it still doesn't work properly. Now I am stuck with a vehicle that I bought for certain features that do not work.

Nissan Miles per Gallon

I have a 2019 Nissan Rogue, per Nissan one should get 26 to 33 miles per gallon. I get no where near those numbers. On average around town and some highway driving I am averaging 19 mpg. These numbers are terrible and not even close to what Nissan states. I am very disappointed...

Anyone else having this issues? Front camera had to be replaced because it was defective. I am now losing coolant and Nissan can't figure out the problem. Steering wheel grinds and smell from engine. The dealership told me I should be happy that I am not stranded on the side of the road. I guess that is Nissan's measure of success: as long as your new car doesn't leave you stranded you should be happy?

I was in the 2017 Nissan Rogue before this and it was a bit of an adjustment for me going from a 6 cylinder to the 4 as it did feel a bit sluggish. I have to say though, I got used to it quickly and didn't find it an issue, pretty much ever. I just got into the 2020 Rogue and Im in love with it. Its a great car, don't let the reviews of a slow transmission deter you. You'll like it

Needing a third car for my growing family, I bought a used 2020 Rogue from Fox Ann Arbor Nissan, where the salesperson (Terra) was like a buyer’s agent who went way above expectations. It is the base model with Special Edition package, but it has so much room and features that it feels like a high-end version of larger model. Looks clean and dignified like a traditional SUV, I prefer this over the “adventurous” look of most CUV’s. Interior looks equally sensible with a cool pattern on the seats, sporty shift lever / steering wheel, and cushy armrests. Back seats and trunk are full of space, features, and quality feel. Under the hood, it is easy to check the fluid levels without opening the caps, and cabin filter behind the dash is super easy to change. Drives quietly with a medium-firm ride that feels great. Build quality is excellent, without a single rattle, paint chip, or mis-aligned panel. On the downside, some pieces in front fascia are loose when you wiggle or tap them, driver’s footrest looks bare, and it is not very engaging to drive, but I had luxury cars that are worse in these regards, so no big deal. Bottom line: An affordable SUV that is spacious and well-built, it is equally appealing to youth and their parents (including myself). It is my first Nissan, and there is a pack of delighted customers at home fighting over the keys. May 2022 Update: Impressions after driving 3/4 of the way across the USA to help a youth move into Bay Area. PROS: - 31 MPG on highway, much better than V6 SUV’s yet almost as roomy inside, very useful when hauling large furniture. - Manual mode provides engine braking when going downhill at high speed. - Smooth and quiet around town, where CVT feels like a refined automatic, rides firmly without being harsh, surprisingly fun to drive. - Not too tall, easy to get in and out, perfect eye level when driving. - Rear cross traffic alert system is genuinely useful when reversing out of parking spot. CONS: - Engine is weak at high speeds especially going uphill, where CVT constantly shifts around. Flipping to manual mode stops the hunting, but car won’t accelerate until you shift to lower gear. - Large blind spot by the side mirrors. NIT-PICKS: - Maintenance minder pops up with no warning, so you are already delinquent when it appears. - ECO button is difficult to access while driving, no detectable difference from SPORT mode. - You can only open the fuel door from inside the car, using the button on dash. - Once outside the car, you can only lock the doors using the remote, where it always honks. - Removable cargo floor rattles depending on the position. - Cheap interior plastic scratches easily. VERDICT: - Arguably the best all-around vehicle in the world, unless you cross the Rockies every day. Nov. 2022 Update: Trouble-free at 26k miles, I continue to be impressed by the quality and features for the money. Drives very well at ordinary conditions, although it feels strained over mountains. Love the illuminated speedo / tach gauges, digital display between them, and piano black trim. No gimmicks or tricks, just genuine goodness that grows on you.

We rented a Rogue for a 4600 mile cross country trip. It is very comfortable and great led room in the back but that is about it. Fuel consumption was so so - got around 24 mpg and the engine is just too weak. Struggle on mountain roads. Wipers was horrible. No fast speed for the wipers like other cars.

Don't buy a rogue from Greenville Nissan. My leather seats in front developed a wrinkle in the seats. They blame me, something in my back pocket or the way i sit in the seat. I am alady nothing in my back pocket and definitely not over weight. One says this is a common problem can be fixed another says they have never seen this problem. Keep it a week tell me its fixed bring it to me and it looks exactly the same. Then say its not their problem its a Nissan problem. Anyhow Im stuck with a wrinkled front seat. Won't buy another Nissan or reccomend one to anyone.

The Nissan Rogue SV is great. The interior is quiet from outdoor noise. Great gas mileage. The driver seat has lots of features like lumbar support, seat adjust and height in a easy touch control. The sound quality is great for jamming out. Call quality is superb as well. Don't have to ask my caller to repeat themselves. The SUV also features driver and auto-pilot assist. Definitely essential while driving long distances. The blind spot warning feature is also great. It provides that added measure of security on the road. The reach trunk area has some cool features as well. The covers can be adjusted into various stages that allow for optimal privacy as well and better function. Overall it's a great vehicle and ride.

I love the way this car Handel's and the extra bells and whistles.... BUT.... I HIT 57000 miles. And the coolant fan stopped working my car over heated and I just spent 1200.00 to replace it. We have 2 more nissans that are at 43000 miles and wonder what is going to happen to them. 57000 miles is to low for things like this to have to be fixed. I am very disappointed !!!!

We were given a FULLY loaded Rouge as a loaner car while ours was getting some warranty work done. When I saw how fully loaded this one was, I was very excited...then I drove it. All of the safety features are overbearing and obnoxious. I messed with tons of settings and had to turn most of the features off just so my passengers weren't constantly asking, "Why is it beeping now?" "What's that ding mean?" Most cars use a subtle vibration in the steering wheel as a reminder when you get too close to the lines on the road. Not the Rouge, oh no, you get a loud audible notification from the speakers on the side of the vehicle that you're nearing the line. The display lights up and flashes the line, and it's super sensitive. You can't even get close. The infotainment center has a lot of nice color, but is really busy. Power driver's seat with 2 memory buttons, but the passenger? Naw, they get old school manual slide and recline, cause why would you want them to have it easy? One nice thing was the panoramic sunroof. It really let in the outside. Unfortunately, so did all of the road noise coming in. Holy smokes was it loud! While on the subject of loud, that engine, all bark and no bite. In all seriousness, this vehicle has a ton of options but still feels cheap and wanting in so many ways. I'd never consider actually buying a Rouge.

I don't recommend buying a Rogue if you want anyone in the car other than the driver to communicate using the Bluetooth feature for the phone. Apparently, it is by deliberate design that there is only one microphone over the drive. During a call, the listener will barely be able to hear any of the other passengers in the car. If I knew about this design flaw I would have skipped buying any Nissan vehicle. I know I won't buy another.

My second Rogue

I purchased the 2020 Rogue SV Tech to replace my 2013 Rogue SV Tech, both bought it from dealer for brand new. I also look for Rav4, CRV, CX-5, I can says Rogue equipped the most features than all other 3 brands, with at least $8K less, I knows it is mostly due to New model coming out. After 6 months with 6K mileges, I will say it is a good car for day to day city driving, gas is not great, but acceptable 10% less than my 2013 Rogue. My wife loves the safety features specially the sonar, 360 view and blind spot. Pro-Pilot assist is not really useful even in highway driving, only nice to have. However if you are looking for Power, this SUV will disappointed you same as my 2013 Rogue, slow acceleration on both starting and pass over in highway. Struggle when going uphill. Thats why I say it is a city car. My conclusion: Rogue is a very good SUV to buy because of the features equipped. However, due to the Nissan CVT reputation, I will only buy Rogue if the price different is more than 10% discount compare to 3 other Japanese brands SUV. Thats why I bought Rogue again.

I absolutely love my 2020 Rogue. It is the perfect fit for my family. It has the most amazing safety features, and you can literally Nissan's renowned quality when you get behind the wheel. Drives like luxury and is actually quiet.. I just cannot say enough about my Rogue. Has lots of space in the back and also you can leave it opn or build a little shelf if you need to. Has great get up and go power... I could go on all day about how awesome my car is.... I highly recommend the Nissan Rogue!!!!

Accessories Unreliable

I have several problems with my 2020 Rogue .. all of which are probably fixable with software upgrades, but none are provided. The back-up camera is very dim, and when adjusted to maximum brightness is almost passable. Unfortunately the brightness setting is not saved, so every time I get in the car, have to go thru menu system to reset it. --Terrible -- should be brighter, should save the brightness setting. When in reverse the radio cannot be turned off -- does not respond to the power button. So backing out of the garage, cannot quickly quiet the audio. And the radio channel selector just plain does not work. When selecting a new station, a selection-click occurs, but the channel does not change. Have to pound the new selection 3-4 times to make it change stations. VERY annoying. And I like the auto-high beam control that dims for oncoming traffic -- except that is does not restore high beams. And to manually restore you have to first turn OFF high beams (even though they are not ON), then turn them ON again. The car cannot even auto-adjust is clock to daylight saving even though it does connect to my home wifi network. The dealer is useless since they are unable to alter any of these defficiencies with the menu settings -- and Nissan customer service does not respond to repeated requests for software fixes for this stuff. Would not buy another Nissan. I much prefer my RAV4 -- does not have all the bells and whistles, but what it does have actually works.

73 years old had many new cars, lots of headroom I'm 6' 3" wife is 5 foot, fits both of us with ease. Had Kia Niro, Subaru Impreza, and drove CRV, Rouge beats them all for comfort. Easier to get in and out than my 1999 2wd Silverado. Only had for 2 weeks and 1000 miles, like it more daily.

I bought my 2020 Nissan Rogue April 2020. Within a week while driving the Malfunction light came on indicating I was in a crash which I wasn't. It's done it three more times. The light comes on as if something is wrong with the tires, the vehicle has revved up on it's own. This car is more scary to drive than fun.

Love my Rogue..HOWEVER

I’ve had my 2020 Rogue for about two months. Purchased it from dealer with about 8,000 Kms. Absolutely love it….HOWEVER. I drove it about 2 kilometres on a gravel road very slowly did not pass any vehicles and ended up with about 5 stone chips!!!! I couldn’t believe it!! I have driven my old Chevy Malibu on that road a million times and never had one stone chip! Went to talk to the dealer about it but of course warranty does not cover cheap paint. Very disappointed to say the least!

Like roof noise? Oh boy….

Ever feel like your hand is being forced to do something you don’t want to do? Bought a new loaded 2020 Rogue SL in fall of 2020. Traded up to what should have been our next 5-7 year vehicle. Within first month roof started rattling from right rear corner/pillar and never stopped. Dealership replaced sunroof interior framing and railing , huge job, changed nothing. Dealership had apart and attempted to fix 4 times in the last year, and we decided there won’t be a 5th time as each time had mechanics crawling all over our brand new vehicle attempting to figure out where this noise was coming from. And they were all now guessing if they could fix it all going forward. Never made noise while temps were hot out, but when temps dropped at night or cooled in mornings and during winter months , noise never stopped. Clicking and cracking coming out of the right rear corner. Grrrrrr….. Vehicle was really nice for us, since kids no longer coming with us. Power was ok, but low. Was good in winter. All around we were happy, except for lovely roof rattle which drove us crazy. Very disappointed in our first SUV in which we researched and felt we made a sound decision upon purchase, so we traded off much to the dismay of our financial situation, and to the excitement of the bank. Bought a new 2021 Rogue Platinum. We will see how this Vehicle stands up to our harsh cold climates with everything being so electrical , so time will tell. Here’s to hoping round two will be better for us. It’s a really nice vehicle, will see if we can get past the first month trouble free.
