TRANSMISSION IS TRASH

I bought my 2014 Nissan Rogue in March of 2017 with roughly 60k miles on the vehicle. Nissan has been the only company to service my vehicle since this purchase (with the exception of the body work done due to being hit). Today, July 13, 2020 Nissan calls to tell me my whole transmission needs to be replaced. This car only has 118k miles. Back Story: I took my vehicle in on Friday, July 10th for an oil change, and for my back breaks and rotors to be replaced. The report said I was missing a coolant cap (I approved and paid for this to be replaced) and that all my fluids were great, including my coolant and auto transmission fluid. When my car broke down on July 12, we found out that my coolant was completely dry and that the coolant cap was non-existent. Back to the present, Nissan tells me that they had to order the coolant cap, that they didn't actually have it in stock... I WAS NEVER INFORMED. They also advised that they DO NOT CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID BECAUSE IT IS SEALED BUT they do recommend it being changed every 30 thousand miles!! Please keep in mind that EVERY SINGLE report states that my transmission fluid is great! SO WHY WOULD THEY INCLUDE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ON THE REPORT IF THEY DON'T CHECK IT!!!! They never once made the recommendation to have the transmission fluid changed NOT ONCE!!! (I have every report) WHY WOULD THEY NOT TELL ME THAT THE COOLANT CAP NEEDED TO BE ORDERED? I am done with Nissan! I will never own another. The manager is trying to tell me that due to the high heat index during the summer months, they see an uptick in transmission failures. He continued due to the heat, the transmissions it's likely that the transmission will have issues pulling. Okay, so now our cars aren't made to drive in 85 degree weather?? In the foreseeable future, Nissan will have a law suit on their hands will how many reports I am seeing with CVT issues!!! Watch and see. I would also like to add that the 2014 was the year of the design change. Could this be why this year model is having more problems?

New transmission - Less than 60k miles

The transmission died when I was four hours from home on a road trip. I was just under the 60k mile limit for the warranty. While I'm glad Nissan paid for the tow, rental, and repair, I have a hunch from other online reviews that I'll have to replace the transmission again eventually and that time, the cost will be on me. I would never buy another Nissan. There is no way a four year old car with 59k miles should need a new transmission, especially since I was keeping up with maintenance on this car. Not to mention, it's a huge safety concern when you're on the highway and unable to accelerate properly with semi trucks flying past you. I look forward to getting rid of this car eventually!

2014 Nissan Rogue SV - AWD - Owner's Impressions

Just bought my 2014 Rogue SV with AWD a few days ago. Overall I really like the vehicle and think styling inside and out is much improved from the 2013 version. I am a pretty dedicated Nissan owner but also checked out the Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, and Chevy Equinox. I was sold on the Rogue's interior - looks and feels very upscale, better than its competitors, and the cabin is huge. The Sirius XM radio is awesome and Nissan gives you a 90-day trial to test it out. Mine came with dual climate control (have never had that before and love it!), pushbutton start, backup camera, and an extended power moonroof and it listed for just over $28,000. So, I feel the value was great.

I've bought this SUV in July 2014. I am impressed with most of the features, except the claimed mileage! I do not get over 18mpg driving mostly highway. Also, the lift gate has stopped functioning, GPS unit turns off by itself. front passenger seat vibrates while on ideal. Passenger airbag turns on by itself.

You’re Rouge will need a new CVT at 60k-80k miles, so prepare to drop $3,500 on that as it will be out of warranty by then. Nissan will not help you out. You are better off with a different SUV make. Nissan’s CVT issues are notorious. I will not buy Nissan ever again.
