The 2025 Ranger Rover upholds its reputation as a premier luxury SUV. It boasts a powerful engine and a classy interior packed with features. It's expensive and there are some disappointing bits, but if you're looking to impress yourself and others, the Range Rover's presence is nearly unmatched.Read full review
The Land Rover Range Rover combines an excess of capability, luxury and style to situate itself as one of the best SUVs you can buy. And rest assured: The price is steep. Land Rover redesigned the Range Rover for 2022 and tweaked the engine lineup. The biggest change for 2025 is a new, (relatively) lower-priced version of the plug-in hybrid. Otherwise the big Range Rover is mostly carryover, and considering its bold style and wide-ranging customizability, we think that'll be fine for most shoppers.
According to GeoTab’s data, if the observed degradation rates are maintained, the vast majority of batteries will outlast the usable life of the vehicle.

Edmunds spotlight: The Range Rover's impressive interior
As impressive as the Range Rover's exterior may be, it's the interior that really sets this British SUV apart. The automatic-lowering suspension makes getting in and out of the SUV a snap, and there's NBA-center levels of legroom and headroom for both front and rear passengers. Huge windows provide excellent visibility, and it's easy enough to find a comfortable driving position. Topping it off are high-quality materials such as premium-feeling leather that you'll find throughout the Range Rover's interior.
Competitors to consider
This ultra-luxury SUV spans a wide price range across its various trims and options. At the lower end are vehicles like the Lexus LX 600 and Cadillac Escalade, but move up the ladder and soon you're competing against vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS. At the top end the Range Rover even goes head-to-head with vehicles like the Bentley Bentayga. On the other hand, if you're willing to sacrifice some luxury and refinement for a notably lower price, the BMW X7 is an excellent "budget" alternative. Read our Expert Rating below for more detail on what makes the Range Rover stand out.
Edmunds Expert Rating
edmunds TESTED
Driven, tested, rated by automotive expert Reese Counts
Good
6.6
out of 10
We drove the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.
Driving experience
7.1/10
How does the Land Rover Range Rover drive? We tested the three-row Range Rover SE with the P400 six-cylinder engine. It weighed in at nearly 6,000 pounds, which makes its 6.1-second sprint from zero to 60 mph slightly more impressive. Still, it prefers to be driven leisurely and delivers an extremely comfortable and refined ride (admittedly with some body roll) even with our test vehicle's mammoth 23-inch wheels. The smooth gear shifts are especially notable.
Steering and handling are another issue. Those soft suspension motions equal noticeable body lean when cornering, and the steering feels light and artificial. The brakes are strong, but some three-row luxury SUVs can stop from 60 mph in a shorter distance. On the plus side, all-wheel steering is standard, meaning the rear wheels will turn in the opposite direction of the front wheels to aid your turning capability at low speeds. It's especially helpful when parking.
Speaking of which, it's hard to beat the Range Rover's visibility. There are huge windows all over, you sit high, the mirrors are big, and a 360-degree camera system is standard. The rest of the driver assistance tech suite isn't robust in terms of features, but what's there is well executed.
Comfort
7/10
How comfortable is the Land Rover Range Rover? The Range Rover interior has many high highs but also some low lows. First, the good stuff. The optional 24-way power-adjustable front seats are extremely comfortable and provide a superlative driving position, while all three rows enjoy supple cushioning and a supportive structure to keep passengers happy. It's easy to climb in and out of thanks to massive door openings and helpful steps, not to mention an automatically lowering suspension. Neat stuff. Inside it's very spacious in the first two rows (again, we tested the long-wheelbase model), but the optional third row is one of the smallest out there.
Now the lows. The interior controls are found predominantly in the touchscreen. That can make some controls and settings difficult to find if they are buried in one of the many menus. That includes the climate control system, which also suffers from being seemingly underpowered. The fans are loud and struggle to cool the cabin. We were also disappointed by the creaks and rattles that betrayed an otherwise whisper-quiet cabin.
In-cabin tech
8.4/10
How’s the tech? The infotainment system's graphics look high-class in both the touchscreen and the instrument cluster, adding to the Range Rover's upscale aesthetic. But the functionality of the overall system doesn't quite match that of systems in luxury rivals like BMW and Mercedes. Device integration is a strong suit, with many USB charging ports (USB-C, USB-A) and a standard wireless charging pad. Wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration is standard. There is an app to remote start and unlock and lock the vehicle, but no digital key is offered.
Buying Tips for the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover for February
Looking to get behind the wheel of a 2025 Land Rover Range Rover? Here’s how to get a great deal on this luxury SUV.
Buyers find savings between 1% to nearly 2% off MSRP, with trims like the P530 Autobiography offering up to $2,904 in savings.
No cash rebates are available, but a special APR offer as low as 3.9% beats market rates by up to 2.9%, saving you money over the loan term.
There's ample new inventory with 263 models available, though trims vary—consider the popular P530 SE with 475 units for easier negotiations.
Leasing is a viable option with typical monthly payments of $2,751 and $7,751 due at signing for a 36-month lease on popular trims.
For used buyers, the lowest displayed dealer price starts at $106,990 with 165 units available, offering chances to negotiate if buying a less popular trim.
Newer models take an average of 153 days to sell, providing negotiating leverage for savvy shoppers.

Storage & cargo
5.9/10
How’s storage and cargo? A three-row Range Rover like our test vehicle has minimal cargo space when that third row is raised. There's substantially more in a Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator, but the difference between the Range Rover and the Mercedes GLS may not be as extreme as the official cargo volumes suggest. Folding the third row down or forgoing it altogether with the two-row model results in average cargo space for the segment.
Towing capacity is a strength, at 7,715 pounds, which is plenty for most trailers and boats. (The V8-powered Range Rover has a higher max capacity, at 8,200 pounds.) There is enough space throughout the interior for personal belongings but only just — nothing goes above and beyond what you might find elsewhere.
Value
6.9/10
Is the Land Rover Range Rover a good value? The Range Rover features eye-popping, bombastic features — including a marvelous air suspension and loads of off-road equipment. It also has impressive interior materials with fantastic leather throughout, large open-pore wood panels, and metal trim in all the right places. Too much piano black trim makes it look a bit cheap in places, though, and our test vehicle's build quality was suspect, with lots of rattles and creaks. That lessened our enthusiasm, especially given a price tag that greatly exceeds that of rivals such as the Mercedes GLS.
Land Rover offers warranty coverage of four years/50,000 miles for both the basic warranty as well as drivetrain protection, which is average for the class.
How’s the fuel economy? While the Range Rover is available with a plug-in hybrid, the gas-only versions we're considering here are available with six-cylinder or eight-cylinder mild hybrid powertrains. Six-cylinder P400 engines like the one in our test vehicle get an EPA estimate of 21 mpg combined. We got exactly that in our real-world evaluation. The V8-powered P550 has an estimate of 18 mpg combined. Either way, that's below-average fuel economy on our standardized MPG scoring rubric.
X factor
10/10
The Range Rover isn't exactly fun to drive, but boy oh boy, does it ever have presence. The elegant exterior styling appears to have been carved by a glacier, and its standard air suspension dramatically lowers the vehicle upon your approach. Few vehicles can command attention and admiration on sight like this one. Take our advice and experience it at night when the glowing ambient lights amplify an already palatial experience.
Moreover, should you attempt to take your Range Rover off-road, it's hard to beat this SUV's capabilities thanks to two locking differentials, standout maximum ground clearance of over 11 inches, and five terrain driving modes, including the Wade one for traversing rivers.
2025 Land Rover Range Rover trim level differences
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover is available in two basic configurations: standard-wheelbase (SWB) and long-wheelbase (LWB) models. Both come with standard seating for five, but the Range Rover LWB offers more rear legroom and is available with a third row of seating. There are three trim levels to choose from: SE, Autobiography and SV. Read on for more details on the Land Rover's engines and features. Compare the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover trim levels in-depth.
Which Range Rover trim does Edmunds recommend?
The Range Rover SE may be the base version but don't be fooled: It comes well stocked with luxury features. Standard equipment includes an air suspension, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, a Meridian sound system and automated parking. Stand-alone options let SE buyers customize their Range Rover without requiring the significant buy-in of the pricier trims.
The overall sentiment for the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover is mixed. Owners appreciate the luxury feel, smooth ride, and great design but are very frustrated with numerous technical issues including frequent trips to the repair shop, especially for brakes and software problems. Many say parts are difficult to obtain, and they feel customer service is lacking. Some owners are happy with the vehicle's comfort and style, but the negatives have left many others disappointed and upset.

2025 Land Rover Range Rover P550e SE 4dr SUV 4WD w/Standard Wheelbase (3.0L 6cyl Twincharger gas/electric plug-in hybrid 8A)
I just traded in my 2021 rabge rover with 2025 plug in hybrid, simply amazing quite ride with a great pick up. Very smooth ride. I hate two things, one is the price of new vehicle is ridiculously high and terrible residual value for the old one.
