Best car I've owned
I bought this car in 2000 with 14000 miles on it. The guys at the dealership put 3000 miles on it before I bought it. When I saw it had a 5 speed 6 cylinder engine, I bought it right away. Now with 130000+ miles on it it still runs good as new, with no major problems to report. The only problem I have ever had was a sensor that needed to be replaced & routine maintenance. I just bought an SUV and I didn't have the heart to trade the Maxima in. Hopefully I'll get another 100000 miles out of it!
Why get something more expensive
I have driven a Nissan Altima and a Nissan Maxima which I still own. These 2 cars have proven to be very reliable while they offered a lot more options for the money (more value). I don't understand people who buy a Honda Accord instead of a Maxima. They probably don't do their homework before buying. For me and my family it is Nissan...nothing else. And to prove my point, my son just purchased his first car...a brand new Nissan Sentra EX R which he chose above such competitors such as Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Hyundai Tiburon.

99 Nissan Maxima SE Limited
I have really enjoyed my Maxima. It's got one of the best, if the not the best V6 there is (or was in 1999). I've only had minor problems with it. These problems were: Air Blower in car makes a whistling noise, drivers seat creaks a little, and the micro-chip keys can be erased if put on the counter in a store like Target or Walmart (which then requires a tow($75)and key re- coding at Nissan($40). I never had any major problems. Overall, it's a great car that I'm going to keep even after it's paid off.
mostly a great car
I bought this because I got a good deal on it. It has been a great car overall. I have had only a few problems that seem to be common for this car. I had the Oxygen sensor go out at 40,000 mi., tires prematurely needing replaced at 25,000 mi., and my cd player is dead. Not bad compared to most cars. I just got spoiled with my Toyota that I had previously.

THis is the best V6 you can get out of a car before the millenium. It also has a great bose system and you can go cross country with this baby.
99 Maxima GLE
I bought the car in 06 with 54k on it. It was perfect for two years. Now there is 90k miles on it, and all of my coils need to be replaced, along with all spark plugs. At the dealer they charged $1400.

Best Car I've Ever Owned!!
I have a 99 Maxima SE 5-Speed Manual transmission, this car has been great to me. I bought the car in 2012 with 160,000 miles and now she has 289,000 miles!! She still runs great!! The 3.0 engine runs smooth and accelerates nicely. I have had to replace normal wear and tear parts like CV axles, balljoints, tie rods and struts. Ive also replaced the coil packs with "Hitachi" brand ones and have been working great for years. I must say this is the best car Ive ever owned!!! And would buy another!!!

My review of my MAX- 1999 Nissan Maxima
This is a roomy, comfortable four door sedan with power while remaining economical. It has been reliable for 117,000 miles and is still quiet, comfortable and reliable.
1999 nissan rocks
Original owner. The only 2 complaints are rear caliper froze with 18,000 miles??? IGNITION COILS will go . Mine went after 4 years 3 months. 3 months after warranty. After calling around found it to be a major problem on all 1999 maximas. Beware if you buy used .
