Nice Car
Bought my Maxima new 4 years ago. I'm pretty tall and this was one of only a few cars with moon roof where I sat comfortably. Found out the alignment was bad after 25,000 miles. Replaced the Goodyear Eagle tires with Michelin's and significantly reduced road noise. No other real maintenance issues other than warranty repair on a bad air bag sensor.
Highly recommended for durability
I have always wanted this exact year. When I first purchased used. I had done all my homework and have not been disappointed since. It is the most reliable car so far that I have owned. For a v6 it is quite responsive. Like any car it has had some minor mechanical work but if you change your oil regularly and do its scheduled upkeep it will give you years of satisfaction. I currently have 145000 kms and bought it with 88000 kms. The engine on this car is solid. it corners on rails and is a treat on the highway. The seats are comfortable. Buy it!!

Extremely reliable car at 169K miles
I bought my Maxima GLE used in '02 with 35K miles, and it was the best used car decision I ever made. It is now at 169K miles and still going strong. It has never needed a major repair.
Nissan's Best in a reliable family sport sedan
Accelerates like a scalded cat, corners like it's on rails, stops on a dime with good tires, even 18 years later. Reliability - it's 18 years old and I've spent about $3000 on repairs other than basic wear and tear. Sunroof has never leaked, still silent as it opens and works well. Bose stereo has never had a problem other than the tape deck died about 2 years ago, but I don't have many tapes anyway. Update: 7/2018 - Shortly after writing this review, had some expensive repairs. At 20 years old from date of manufacture, had several electrical system failures (alternator died, then distribution connections, then the starter), then the transmission had issues with reverse. Finally, the air conditioning system died in July in NC, it was time to retire her. Still miss shocking expensive sports cars with that old but quite fun Z engine.

3 year review
This is my second Maxima. The first I kept for 12 years and the engine ran beautifully until the day I traded her in for my current Max. The smoothness of the engine with all its power is my favorite perk. The car has never failed to start. I have the Bose sound system and it is great. The black color still comes up with a great shine. Interior is a bit spartan, however but instrument panel is easy to locate.
