Great fuel efficient car, but I outgrew it

I had my Kicks for just over two years, and just traded it in for a Toyota Tacoma. Overall, I was impressed with the car, and how reliable it ended up being in a few precarious situations. It was what I needed 2 years ago and at the right price point, but I traded it in last week as I was ready for something bigger for my family and something more rugged for all of the exploring we do in the backcountry. Pros: loved the 33+ mpg, how zippy and compact it was without feeling like a Kia Sol, how it had quite a bit of space for a compact SUV (I took the backseat out and built a camping platform for the pup and I for overnight car camping), that it had higher clearance than a small sedan so I could hit most popular hiking trailheads without too much stress, seats were fairly comfortable for longer trips, and I had no real maintenance issues at all over the two years I had it (see note about radio below). Cons: BEWARE OF THE BLINDSPOTS. This thing has so many blindspots that my partner who drives a Toyota 4Runner almost side swiped a couple people when she borrowed it for work one day. Get used to looking over both shoulders and double-checking. Even with the blindspot indicator, we had a couple close calls. Also as others have noted, the car tended to lurch a bit when at a stop sign. The first few times it happened, I thought it was my fault for slipping my foot off the brake, but it continued to happen even when I was holding the brake pretty hard. Also, the radio system glitches out a lot. The left knob was basically useless the last few months. Some times, the radio would turn off without warning or switch stations. It was odd. Although the seats were comfortable, I think Nissan leaves a bit to be desired with the interior. Also, the small gas tank was nice on my wallet, but a pain on longer trips in the woods since I really had to be aware of how much gas I had. Overall, I recommend this little car primarily for its fuel efficiency and reliability, but do be warned about the blindspots and odd radio issues! The stereo issue might have been an easy fix at the dealer, maybe a reset of some kind, but my local dealership service department was a struggle every time I went in there, so I never tried to get it fixed.

Kicks, more like a stumble

Overall this vehicle was fine. It got me from point a to point b without any issues. It has very cool features and accessories for such a moderately priced vehicle. However this car was very lacking in what I need in a vehicle. I bought this in a haste as i needed a good quality, small SUV after my vehicle got totaled(not my fault). Nissan is great for many things in the vehicle world and the Kicks is a newer model for Nissan. They got off on a good foot but this model needs some tweaks. For starters, DO NOT believe the gas mileage estimates. My kicks averaged around 23 city and 26 hwy. Not to mention it only has a 10gal tank so the range was not acceptable for me. I found myself filling up alot more often than I was used to. Also, since it only has 122hp, this car does not have any pick up a go. It's a slow crawl to speed. There is no punching it to get into a small opening on the freeway. This car will get you to speed but take it's sweet time doing it. I got the midrange model with the upgraded sound system and it was worth it. However, the speaker box in the back is not placed well and takes up 25% of your storage space. Makes for very awkward loading and its difficult to remove when you need a flat surffac.. The electronic display and touch screen up front needs some tweaking too as the screen pops on and off and gets frozen easily. Dealership downloaded a patch but it didn't do any good. Also the Collision alert system is very fragile and will come loose with any impact. I got tapped in a parking lot and my front sensor was dislodged and had to be reset at the dealer. As stated, overall, its a good vehilce. Just not for me. Traded it in 12 months after purchase for a vehicle I love.

I do like the vehicle. It was in my budget line. Some small annoyances, but I will enjoy it for the remainder of my lease. I would not buy it.

I liked the features of the Kicks, but a bit cramped for me!

Not a good car

The car is comfortable, it’s spacious on the inside, nice looking interior. Very unstable on highway speeds, road noises sound like you have the windows open, only one year of owning it and rust is already appearing on the roof. The crash sensors go off for no reason, transmission shifts hard in occasions, the dash speakers sound awful and the dealership does not want to replace them even though the car is still under warranty. The headset unit was replaced 3 months of owning it due to problems. Accelerating is abismal. Overall, not worth it.
