The most reliable car i've ever owned
I bought my car used in 2001. I've now had it for 8 years. This has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Has 133k miles now and still gets 30+ mpg hwy. No Major repairs have been needed, only routine maintenance. I've seen identical cars with well over 200k miles on them and still run fine. Would definitely recommend an altima to anyone who wants a reliable, economical car that is easy and inexpensive to maintain.
Just a Champ
I have had this car now for 7 years and I'm at 150,000 miles. The car still runs strong and is ready to go every time I get into it. I had some major service done at 120,000 (seals, exhaust, clutch, tires) and now I'm going to take it on a cross country trip. With a new job lined up in sales the car is going to push 45k+ miles a year...I plan to get 250k - 300k on it!!
Altima is "best in class"
Bought mine used 4 years ago (my 4th Nissan) and it's now got 80k on it. Only normal maintainence has been needed except for alternator replacement. This is an excellent used car buy! The car is "rock-solid" reliable with plenty of power for its class coupled with decent gas mileage. One of the best things about Nissans in general is the durability of their suspension parts .... and this car is no different. The car still rides like new with no thumps or rattles and nothing underneath has ever been replaced. 15" wheels in 1995 was a nice touch and gives a nice stable ride. The car is just very "comfortable" to drive.
Had it since it was new
Just got done replacing the auto trans tonight. About 250K total. Replaced the engine at ~140K. There was a noise coming from the timing chain area, and it was going to cost the same to replace with a used motor, or replace the chain. Also have gone through 5 distributors, 6 O2 sensors, and can't solve the leak in the P/S system. I find the front seats to be pretty much unbearable on long trips. Even with all this trouble, at least I don't have car payments. I would not buy another one, thats for sure.
