SERIOUS HOOD FLUTTERING ISSUE
Many similar issues with other customers. Once hit 45 MPH hood shakes violently. wife won't drive it on highway. A technical service bulletin fix was performed prior to my August purchase. Have brought car in twice for repair. Time #1 all they did was check to see that Technical Service was performed properly. Did not do anything else. Brought it in today. They called manufacturer and was told to install weather stripping. They have ordered it and I will bring it in a third time to repair. Many other owners have stated that this fix has not solved the problem. I am not confident it willl for me either. A design issue of some sort of design issue that manufacturer has been aware for months now yet no fix. Perhaps hood is not strong enough? Does it need a new hood? I am not a car engineer but I do know there is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. From what I have read it appears that that at least 3,000 cars are affected. Is it a matter of cost? Very sad to pay over $35,000 for a car to have this problem.

Runs like a champ.
Love the looks and feel of the Outlander. Only issue I have is the hood blowing when on high speeds. The reason isn't only the aluminum for most cars use aluminum but the hood is one piece to include the grille. Most cars is just the hood that is one piece but Mitsubishi has attached the grille also as one so when the wind blows on high speeds it pushes the hood up. Need to reinforce the grille or make it two separate pieces.

Test Drove for Future Consideration
Decided to test drive the ES version of the Outlander to see if it's a vehicle I would consider for a future purchase. Test drove this with my son-in-law as the passenger. At 5'10", he seemed a bit cramped in the passenger seat. I felt comfortable once I got the seats, mirrors and steering wheel adjusted. Cloth seats on the ES model seem somewhat cheap. Interior on the Outlander is cavernous; can't see anything out the rear window with the head rests in the third row up. I think a lot of people who opt to purchase this vehicle will leave the third row down for more storage space. As for my driving experience, I really couldn't tell this was a CVT transmission. I'm not one to floor it to speed, but got to 45mph fairly quick. Did not drive the car over 50mph, but like someone else mentioned I did notice some hood vibration at this speed; this is something Mitsubishi will need to address ASAP. Ride was quiet and comfortable; no complaints there. With both rows of rear seats folded down, this would be an excellent "car camping" vehicle, although it would be better if seats folded completely flat in the second row. Sat in the SE model as well but didn't test drive. Like the seats better in the trim level, but don't think I'd purchase unless I could get the SE at the ES pricing. The extras between the two trims are inconsequential for me as a buyer, and as a long-time Honda buyer it's going to take some convincing to get me to part ways with my money to purchase a Mitsubishi. I need more convincing and reassurance that Mitsubishi is going to take care of me as a buyer. The 5 year/10 year warranty on this brand is reassuring...so long as you can find a service department and dealership willing to honor their end of the warranty. Too many people leave a review after a month or so of ownership. I'd be more interested in hearing from long-term Mitsubishi owners and their ownership experience.

Step up from the Outlander Sport
Back while my wife was in school (2013) we purchased an end of lease outlander sport and 120,000 miles later besides a bad TMC module that thing is still going strong. Loud road noise, bad acceleration but it pulled itself through several snowstorms. So since we had such great luck she wanted a Outlander. We've owned the Outlander for several months now and the only issue so far was a faulty backup camera, had to wait a month to get that repaired. The interior, ride, acceleration are all a huge improvement over our old sport. Lane assist works well, blind spot indicators are great (but I still double check). The interior room is perfect for 4 adults, the 3rd row imo is useless. Wish there was an option to have a full size spare tire in the trunk instead. Any of our long trips we now take the Outlander, from looks to comfort honestly it's hard to beat for $30k.
