Used 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUV Consumer Reviews
Pathetic reliability
I purchased this vehicle when the odometer read 117,000 miles and have driven it an additional 28,000 miles over the past two years. During this period of ownership, I have encountered numerous issues, including problems with the ECM, fuel pump, rack and pinion, Airmatic suspension, oil leaks, and secondary air pump failures. I have spent over $10,000 on repairs, but the problems seem never-ending. The cost of parts and services is excessively high and very frustrating. I strongly advise against buying a Mercedes, as their vehicle reliability has significantly declined. In my experience, European brands do not meet the reliability standards of Japanese vehicles. To elaborate further, the ECM (Engine Control Module) issues have caused significant disruptions in the vehicle's performance, leading to unexpected stalls and poor fuel efficiency. The fuel pump failure left me stranded on multiple occasions, requiring costly towing services. The rack and pinion problems have affected the steering, making it difficult to control the vehicle safely. The Airmatic suspension failure resulted in an uncomfortable and bumpy ride, and the oil leaks have been persistent, causing a mess and potential engine damage. The secondary air pump failures have triggered numerous check engine lights, adding to the frustration. The financial burden of these repairs has been overwhelming. Each visit to the mechanic seems to uncover a new issue, and the high cost of parts and labor has made it difficult to keep up with the necessary maintenance. The constant need for repairs has also disrupted my daily life, as I have had to arrange alternative transportation and take time off work to address these problems. In conclusion, my experience with this vehicle has been extremely disappointing. The reliability issues and high repair costs have made it clear that this brand no longer meets the standards I expect from a vehicle. I would strongly advise others to consider more reliable options, particularly those from Japanese manufacturers, which have consistently demonstrated better performance and dependability.

Well built
Fun to drive. Front end not very smooth. It feels like it's missing rubber bushings in the front. I hope it is an actual Mercedes and not just a name change from Dodge Durango to Mercedes GL450. It will be very disappointing if that's the case. Otherwise, it is a good vehicle. Also, it's difficult to lift the middle row to get the 3rd row.

Outstanding
The comfort and convenience is exemplary. Best seats of any vehicle that I've owned. The vehicle was as steady as my SLK 55 AMG at higher speeds.
Great Truck
This is the third SUV I have owned and by far the best that I have test driven or owned. The options do run up the price, but all of the large luxury SUVs cost big bucks. The GL drives and feels like a MB, is fast quiet, and roomy. Backup camera is a must. Great sound system. Nav system is easy once you learn it.
very unhappy
bought mine 200 miles later air ride out. needless to say it is very pretty! rode nice. now yard decore. soooooo mad at myself for this purchase 😒
