Absolute pleasure to drive

Traded in my 2014 C250 coupe. This is my second C300 sedan. Wow! This car is so nice to drive. Quiet, composed, sporty when you want it to be. I've gotten so many compliments on how beautiful the car is. I didn't get the larger wheels because I wanted the ride to be as soft as possible. Added the $5000 package and it has all the luxury i need. Seats are extremely comfortable, Steering is concise and light. Gear shifts using the paddles are immediate. Fuel economy is pretty good. Averaging 27 mpg combined. If I had one complaint it would be the back seats. They are a bit uncomfortable. Sit a an odd angle and I didn't really feel comfortable in them. Not that I care, really. It's all about the driver seat and that is superb!

Honeymoon's Over

I purchased my C300 in July of 2017. Mercedes asked for a review right way, in the honeymoon phase of ownership. After 4 years of ownership, here is my feedback for Mercedes. You have over-engineered this car in ways that just don't work. 1. Placement of the radio swivel knob on the console means every time you grab a drink, you change the station. 2. Placement of the automatic gear shift on the steering column, if you have a 2nd car, means when you reach for the wipers, you risk putting the car in neutral at 65 mph on a highway. 3. Conversely, you can't move the car out of park unless the driver door is shut and your foot is on the brake; therefore, quick backups for an extra few inches in the garage or a parking space are a thing of the past. 4. Rear wheel drive is great for controlled situations, like race tracks, but not for driving in weather. I’d choose safety over JNDs in handling any day of the week. 5. The run flat tires last less than 20,000 miles, are expensive to replace and there is no spare, no jack and no place for either in the car. For a touring car like the C300, you should assume the driver will be more than 50 miles from a city (range for a run flat tire) and need a spare. 6. When I did have a flat and called for roadside assistance, they told me it was only available during regular hours. Car was marketed as 24/7 roadside assist. 7. HD radio has very limited stations; for another 80 cents, just add an AM/FM option so we can dial into local information stations or listen to a ballgame 8. The car is noisy. It seems the windows don't seal quite shut so there is a constant "whooshing" of air sound. We bought the car new and it was never in an accident, so this is a production issue. 9. The paint nicks/chips easily. My previous 3 cars looked better after 10 years than this one does after 4 years. 10. Bluetooth navigation for music players is not user friendly. 11. The car sits too low to the road so it is easy to hit even the lowest parking curb. 12. The glove box is too small. What I do like about the car is 1. Comfortable, luxurious interior. 2. Rearview camera 3. Split folding rear seats 4. Collision/blind spot assist warnings 5. Programmable memory for driver's seat, steering column and side mirrors. 6. Gas mileage is better than other gasoline powered cars I’ve owned.

Great but not so great

Steep learning curve for the instruments in general and navigation system in particular. Wish they had just used CarPlay, which has native smart phone integration. Programming the nav while driving is extremely distracting. Voice recognition is terrible. Lacks alternate route capability. No advice on traffic avoidance. I do like the freeway advices on services available at oncoming off ramps, but google maps or apple maps are much better. Headrests are superb -- all the other cars these days have head rests far too forward in response to recent federal standards, including the E-class, giving me a pain in the neck just sitting in the parking lot. But the seats are VERY firm. Park bench firm, and not comfortable for long drives. Steering and handling are very light and precise. Fold-down seats make for cavernous cargo capacity. I lost $10,000 in resale value the first year, which is ridiculous, as this car seems like it's built to last forever and is very high quality. After a little over two year, the car is worth half of what I paid for it new, even considering the $5,000 end of model year discount.

Good but not Great

Could improve technology features, should have more bells & whistles for price. Sport package should come with more features considering the price bump it adds. Like it but not over the moon about it and feel that I'm paying much more than I should be for what I got. Was also pushed into this specific vehicle with a lot of false promises and inaccurate information which is extremely upsetting and I will never go back to that dealership again.

Over rated Mercedes

It has excellent acceleration & is very comfortable to drive, but the interior of the car is poorly designed. The center console controls many functions of the car. But if you slightly touch or bump the round knob on the console, you can unintentionally suddenly change the radio station, or the navigation, or the phone settings. Basically, many of the controls for the car is located on the console. Also, the turn indicators & windshield wipers are on the same lever handle. Often you accidentally turn the wiper on when you wanted to turn left. The gear shift is located on the steering column which are not in many cars . I just found that the placement of some of these features were very frustrating to relearn. When I automatically reached for something I realized, uh oh, I just bumped my hand on something & now the radio station suddenly switches or I would grab one of the handles on the steering column & all of sudden the wipers would start. It's just annoying & for this reason, I would never get another Mercedes unless they change the interior design of these controls of the car.

One major flaw

The one big flaw on this car may seem petty to some, but to me it's a big deal. You cannot adjust the sun visor when using it on the side. For some ignorant reason, Mercedes removed the "sliding" feature which allowed one to move the visor forward or backward based on the sun's position. To me this is a safety issue and a big mistake. I hope they correct it or I will look for a different manufacturer next time.

This is my very first Mercedes Benz. Rides really smooth and all of the technology makes driving a breeze. I don’t think I’ll every want any other brand of car. Just try it and you will be Locked in!!

This vehicle has a very smooth ride in the city as well as the highway. The LED lights are the best for night driving. Never want to drive another car without them.

This is really a nice car to drive. My favorite feature is the coffer cup that comes up and remind s you to take a break. Bought it new, and the only issue we've had is the ruin flat tires don't seem to really last. Highly recommended if you're in the market for nice small luxury sedan.

Great car, engine is quiet. One negative, I do not like the position of the navigation system. Some of the questions is N/A as I only have the car three weeks and am only driving 5 miles to the bus station.

Slow overpriced junk! I can’t believe I leased this box on wheels. Ugh. This is my third and most likely last Mercedes. The gears change too easily also and it’s dangerous. It barely fits in my garage. Why is it so much longer, slower and wider than my old one? It’s too bad I leased. Maybe someone will steal it!

This car is super outstanding in every way. It’s extremely powerful and fast for only a 4 cylinder but the turbo makes certain no power is lost. This car is good on gas mileage it will run forever. And is small but roomy, simple but luxurious. If your older and want style you got it, if you are younger and want fun, fast and furious you got it. It is easy to maintain, easy to drive and pack a punch. I would get this car again and again. I have almost 140k miles on it and it has never seen the inside of a shop. Do the routine maintenance, and this car will go forever!!
